Luqman Ameen Abdullah, the imam of Detroit's Masjid Al-Haqq (Mosque of Truth), was killed Wednesday in a shootout with FBI agents. The agents were trying to arrest him on charges of conspiracy, receipt of stolen goods, firearms offenses and more. Agents also arrested eight mosque members; then Thursday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police caught Abdullah's son, Mujahid Carswell. Two other accused jihadists also fled, and have not yet been found. This is another example of how homegrown terrorism is a serious danger in Michigan, and note that Muslims like these in America continue in their refusal to cooperate with authorities in order to prevent crimes like Abdullah's from happening.
According to the indictment, in his mosque in Detroit Luqman Abdullah was preaching "offensive jihad" and the establishment of a Sharia state in North America. This sovereign Isamic state would be ruled by Islamic law - and by the apparent godfather of Abdullah's movement, Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin. Al-Amin is the former Black Panther and convert to Islam who gained fame under the name H. Rap Brown. Al-Amin is now serving a life sentence for murdering two police officers, while his disciples, like Luqman Abdullah, carry on the message he articulated so memorably in the 1960s: "If America don't come around, we're gonna burn it down."
In the spirit of his mentor, Abdullah has told his flock: "America must fall." He has encouraged the Muslims in his mosque to support Hizballah, the Taliban and Osama bin Laden. He exhorted them to bestir themselves to pious deeds: "We should be figuring out how to fight the Kuffar" - that is, unbelievers. "We got to take out the U.S. government. The U.S. government is nothing but Kuffars." Among the unbelievers were FBI agents, about whom Abdullah declared: "Deal with them, deal with them the way, the way they supposed to be dealt with.... It's not that complicated, man....If they are coming to get me I'll just strap a bomb on and blow up everybody." A law enforcement official wrote in an affidavit that "Abdullah and his followers have trained regularly in the use of firearms, and continue to train in martial arts and sword fighting" - in accord with Abdullah's dictum that every Muslim believer should "have a weapon and should not be scared to use their weapon when needed."

The man accused of being the ringleader of a carjacking that turned into the rapes and murders of a Tennessee couple was convicted of the most serious charges and now faces the death penalty. They would do well now to send the repugnant murderer who led the gang that committed this filthy crime straight to the electric chair, and rid the world of such disgusting lubricant.
The jury, which deliberated a little more than 8 hours before returning the verdict against Lemaricus Davidson, 28, Tuesday was hearing evidence Wednesday on whether to sentence him to death.
Davidson was tried on 38 counts, including premeditated murder, felony murder, robbery, kidnapping, rape and theft in the 2007 deaths of University of Tennessee student Channon Christian, 21, and her boyfriend Christopher Newsom, 23.
The only not guilty findings were on three counts relating to the rape of Newsom, and Davidson was found guilty of the lesser crime of facilitation on those counts.
Davidson showed no emotion as he heard the jury’s verdict. Newsom’s family followed the readings closely but showed little reaction, while Christian’s father rocked back and forth and occasionally pumped his fist as guilty verdicts were announced.

(IsraelNN.com) Intelligence Minister Dan Meridor (Likud) used his ministerial power Tuesday to hold up a bill that would require a referendum on any surrender of the strategic Golan Heights. His move set off a storm of protest among Golan leaders, who charged that the minister is trying to torpedo the bill because of his political stand, despite his expressed concerns for international relations.Sooner or later, the Likud is going to have to let Meridor go. He's nothing but a troublemaker on his part, parroting the very kind of propaganda the UN approves of.
As a minister, he exercised his privilege to force the Knesset committee that is considering the bill to return it to a ministerial panel. He argued that allowing the public to decide the international border with Syria, which claims sovereignty over the entire area, would “create an undesirable gap between Israeli law and international law.”
[...]
Katzrin regional council chairman Sammy Bar-Lev told Arutz-7 that he hopes Likud voters will settle a score with Meridor. “We are very disappointed and angry. He has all kinds of legal reasons…but the bottom line is that he caused a delay when we already had a majority.” He added that coalition leaders promised him that the bill will return to the Knesset committee for a vote by next month.

Well, in order to have the immigration issue go away for Rifqa's parents, Mohammad Bary's attorney, David Colley, cut a 'behind the scenes' deal in which the Florida court would drop the contempt of court issue regarding their immigration situation in exchange for an assurance that they would leave Rifqa alone and let her stay in foster care for the next 9 months until she is 18. This sounded like it was too good to be true, and it was! As soon as Rifqa was transferred into Ohio custody and the Florida court gave up their emergency jurisdiction over Rifqa and the immigration issue, Rifqa's parents fired their own attorney that made the deal! Simply put, now that Rifqa was in 'favorable' hands in Ohio, all deals are off!As far as I can tell, some really stupid steps were taken here, and even her own defense reps may have acted poorly. Read the entire post for more on how she may not even have proper communications access, and also go here and here to contact the children's services in Franklin County and the governor's office.
In my opinion, this was all part of a premeditated plan on the part of Rifqa's parents and the organization called C.A.I.R. who has been advising them according to the Florida department of law enforcement report released to the public. They have since hired a Muslim activist attorney named Omar Tarazi that is no doubt influenced by the mafia like C.A.I.R. organization whose sole agenda is to paint a positive picture of Islam in America at any cost. (The slander of the Lorenz family and the slander of 17 year old Rifqa's own character by releasing her prayer journals to the media are perfect examples of how C.A.I.R. ruthlessly operates to accomplish their agenda.)

CHICAGO – Two Chicago men who were schoolmates in Pakistan plotted terrorist attacks against a Danish newspaper that triggered widespread protests by printing cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad, federal prosecutors said Tuesday in announcing charges against the men.I'm not sure that's so accurate, because worshiping Mohammed as they do IS idolatry! Really, it's because they don't want anyone to know who Mohammed truly was, which is why they seek to suppress use of him in pictures.
David Coleman Headley, 49, took trips to Denmark in January and July to conduct surveillance on possible targets, including the Copenhagen and Aarhus offices of the Jyllands-Posten newspaper, prosecutors said in criminal complaints filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago. Tahawwur Hussain Rana, 48, helped arrange Headley's travel, prosecutors said.
Danish authorities said there could be more arrests.
According to U.S. prosecutors, Headley told FBI agents after his Oct. 3 arrest at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport that the initial plan called for attacks on the newspaper's offices, but that he later proposed just killing the paper's former cultural editor and the cartoonist behind the drawings, which triggered outrage throughout the Muslim world. He described his plans to contacts in Pakistan as "the Mickey Mouse project," according to the FBI.
The newspaper published twelve cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad in 2005. One cartoon showed Muhammad wearing a bomb-shaped turban. Any depiction of the prophet, even a favorable one, is frowned on by Islamic law as likely to lead to idolatry.
Headley, a U.S. citizen who changed his name from Daood Gilani in 2006, is charged with conspiracy to commit terrorist acts involving murder and maiming outside the United States. He could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted. He was arrested as he boarded a flight to Philadelphia, the first leg of a trip to Pakistan.I can guess why they'd think that - Rose is sometimes a Jewish name. This current case shows that the Islamists are still after the Danes for daring to defame their oh-so precious religion, and vigilance is still needed.
Headley and Rana are each charged with conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorism conspiracy, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. Rana was arrested Oct. 18 in his home.
[...]
U.S. prosecutors said Headley was carrying a data stick in his luggage that contained surveillance video footage of sites in Denmark. They said Headley reported and attempted to report on his efforts to individuals with ties to terrorism overseas, including at least one with links to al-Qaida.
Headley and Rana attended school together in Pakistan, the FBI said in court papers. Headley posted a message on an Internet discussion site in October 2008 saying he resented the Danish cartoons and adding: "I feel disposed toward violence for the offending parties."
According to prosecutors, Headley told FBI agents after his arrest that he received training from a terrorist organization, Lashkar-e-Taiba, starting in 2006. Headley told agents he had worked with Ilyas Kashmiri, a Pakistani based terrorist with al-Qaida links, and that Kashmiri helped plan an attack in Denmark, prosecutors said.
He said he had surveilled the paper's offices in Copenhagen and Aarhus "in preparation for an attack to be carried out by persons associated with Kashmiri and Individual A," prosecutors said. They did not identify Individual A.
Headley told agents he "proposed that the operation against the newspaper be reduced from attacking the entire building in Copenhagen to killing the paper's cultural editor, Flemming Rose, and the cartoonist who drew the cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed with a bomb in his turban, Kurt Westergaard, whom Headley felt was directly responsible for the cartoons."
Headley also told agents that he conducted surveillance of Danish troops posted near the newspaper, believing they might be a quick reaction force in the event of an attack. He also said he surveilled a Copenhagen synagogue in the mistaken belief of one of his contacts that Rose was Jewish."

Violent clashes erupted late on Sunday in the town of Fréjus (south of France) after Mohamed El Matari, a 21 years-old Moroccan national, living in the city killed himself while he was trying to steer clear of a roadblock. According to Simon Babri, the chief of staff of the Prefect, "initially, at 17h30, the young man turned back to avoid a roadblock at the entrance of Fréjus and he fled. He tried to bypass a second roadblock and by driving on the bottom side of the road it hit a tree".Of course, that's not good enough. If they don't send in an army force, this could continue, though they could consider cutting the electrical supply to the neighborhood as a way of weakening the thugs.
After his death, at least 50 youths took to the streets and started to break windows at the entrance of Gabelle, an outskirt of the city. The youths also burned garbage, tires, a motorcycle and five vehicles in a shipyard, said the police. When the Police and the fire-fighters arrived on the scène, protesters threw stones and Molotov cocktails against them. Then, the police retaliate by firing tear gas but it was unable to enter into Gabelle.
No wounded have been reported during the incidents. According to a statement published by the prefecture of the Var region, "at midnight the police were able to take position inside the area and to restore calm." However, police stay in the area during the night to prevent any other incidents.
Likud MK Ofir Akunis said Sunday that much of the trouble on the Temple Mount in recent weeks is the fault of Arab MKs, who are "fanning the fire of dissent in Jerusalem. They keep repeating the same lies about Israel's 'takeover' of the Temple Mount – how can they continue to utter the same nonsense over and over?"It's mostly due to their sick Religion of Peace, as long as they're under its influence. But I'm sure it's not just the Arab MKs who're behind this - even the Fatah is likely to shoulder some blame for these riots.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy, initially dubbed Sarko the American for his pro-U.S. stance, is finding it much tougher to deal with Washington than he had anticipated and is recalibrating his policies accordingly. As things stand now, France would be better off seeking ties with governments other than Obama's. So too in fact would a lot of European governments.
Stung by perceived snubs from U.S. President Barack Obama and encouraged by the growing importance of the G20, Sarkozy is increasingly reaching out to non-aligned states in an effort to extend France’s international influence.
He has forged especially close ties with Brazil, is seeking alliances in central Asia and is intensifying his activities in the Middle East, using multi-billion dollar military and civilian nuclear trade deals as his calling card.
These initiatives are being played out against a discordant tone in Franco-American relations. This lack of harmony does not constitute a crisis, but is nonetheless raising eyebrows.

Australian actress Nicole Kidman has been testifying before a House subcommittee on whether Hollywood contributed to violence against women:WASHINGTON (AP) - Nicole Kidman conceded Wednesday that Hollywood has probably contributed to violence against women by portraying them as weak sex objects. Not exactly. I've noticed in various movie productions that they might portray them as ineffective in combat skills, and only sufficiently effective if they're in the roles of criminals! That always struck me as stupid and insulting. Since this is the AP doing the coverage though, you can't expect them to go deep into this whole matter.
The Oscar-winning actress said she is not interested in those kinds of demeaning roles, adding that the movie industry also has made an effort to contribute to solutions for ending the violence. Not so fast. The United Nations? The very entity that's doing nothing as it is for women's rights under Islamofascism, and has even ignored modern day slavery in Africa?
Kidman testified before a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee that is considering legislation to address violence against women overseas through humanitarian relief efforts and grants to local organizations working on the problem.
Asked by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., if the movie industry has "played a bad role," Kidman said "probably," but quickly added that she herself doesn't."I can't be responsible for all of Hollywood but I can certainly be responsible for my own career," she said.
Kidman appeared before the committee in her role as a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. Development Fund for Women, known as UNIFEM, to promote the International Violence Against Women Act.
"In the real world, the laws go unenforced and impunity is the norm," she said.
The legislation has stalled in the past, but a sponsor, Rep. Bill Delahunt, D-Mass., said he and others plan to reintroduce it soon.
The Australian star told Congress that the U.N. women's fund needs more resources. "We need the money," she said.
Before the hearing began, a crowd of people lined the hall and around the corner to hear her speak.

When it comes to women in Africa, is the U.S. using too many of its values or too few? This is a prime example of how some women are complicit in their own victimization, as Phyllis Chesler has often spoken about.
There is too much apologizing for what freedom means. In Africa, you're told, "Oh, this is our custom -- polygamy is our custom, female genital mutilation is our custom, these are our values." Then you have the Americans and the Europeans being very shy and saying, "Oh, I'm really sorry, it's your custom."
Your own grandmother oversaw your genital mutilation when you were 5, even though your father opposed it.
That's why I keep hammering on principle. My grandmother was convinced she was doing something right. She was brainwashed. She was doing it out of love. She had done it to all her daughters; it was done to her, to her grandmother. She didn't know it was possible not to be, as she called it, "cleansed." Yes, education helps, but it had everything to do with the conviction that what she was doing was right.
I've asked other feminists this question: Why are women's rights always the ones up for negotiation? You know what western feminism might not define as oppressor among white men? Leftists. But then doesn't that figure that for left-wing "feminists", they may not dare to turn against their "own"?
Yes, isn't that interesting? Women are mainly oppressed by their own fathers, their own brothers, their own mothers-in-law, their grandmothers, so it's the most intimate kind of oppression. Another thing: Western feminism still defines the white man as the oppressor, but right now it's the brown man, the black man, the yellow man. When you tell them, "Stop oppressing your women," they'll tell you, "Don't impose your culture on me." It would have been fantastic if, when [President] Obama went to Cairo, he [had said], "We have taught the white man that bigotry is bad and he has given it up, at least most of it. Now bigotry is committed in the name of the black man, the brown man, the yellow man, whatever color."
Do you make a distinction between mainstream and radical Islam?
I refuse to do that because one gives birth to the other. You are born into mainstream Islam. You are taught: Do not question the prophet; everything in the Koran is true. And then the radicals come and they expand on that, they build on that. So it is up to so-called mainstream Islam to tackle the radical element. [Mainstream Muslims] have to question the infallibility of the prophet Muhammad. They have to quit teaching children and young people that everything in the Koran is true and has to be taken seriously.
You can see it in the Christian world. You have pockets of very radical Christians who refuse to change. But most Christians have decided to reform, to introduce new ways of looking at [the Bible] and to allow freedom of thought and speech. So if people move away from the radical ideas, they're not killed, they're not beheaded.

Kinsman, IL - Federal agents conducted a raid Sunday afternoon at a goat meat processing plant near Morris, Illinois. The secretive operation was led by the Chicago FBI office, the Feds are being very tight-lipped on what they found and why they were even there. There are many possibilities as to what was going on here, but chances are this'll be forgotten and we'll never get to know the exact details.
Spokesman Ross Rice confirms agents were at 6260 Kinsman Road, in Kinsman, Illinois. The business is called First World Management. Rice would not say why agents were there but said nobody was taken into custody.
[...]
According to sources, the plant provides goat, beef and lamb meat which is prepared in the Halal way in accordance with Muslim custom.
The government workers inside First World Management meat packing plant in Kinsman Monday wouldn't say why they were there or why scores of FBI agents and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were there Sunday.
The trouble is the FBI isn't saying much about what happened at this rural Grundy County plant. A spokesman confirms that the plant, which has a Muslim prayer room, was raided as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
[...]
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said the agency assisted in the raid, but had no further comment. According to sources, many of the FBI and ICE agents were armed.
Several USDA criminal investigators were on site at the plant on Monday, but they would not comment on the situation.
One man who was talking about the raid was Jim Cavaness. He's a handyman who occasionally works at the plant where goats, sheep and cows are slaughtered. On Sunday, he witnessed the raid and says he was questioned by FBI agents.
Cavaness says the FBI asked him if he had seen anything unusual at the plant. He says he's never seen anything unusual, but, he says, judging by the amount of firepower on the scene, the FBI wasn't just working an immigration case.
"Way too much overkill for immigration," Cavaness said.
Neighbors who saw the raid on Sunday told CBS 2 it was a huge operation, involving more than 100 agents, police officers and even what one believed to be National Guard troops.
Sources say during the raid, the driveway was filled with more than 50 government vehicles. There was a helicopter flying overhead and a command center set up. On top of it were government sharpshooters with rifles at the ready.
George Jackson III is an attorney hired by one of the plant operators, Dr. Syed Hamid. Jackson and Dr. Hamid spoke briefly while on their way to a meeting with the federal prosecutor Monday.
Jackson says it's too early to say why there was such a huge show of force at the plant.
"Obviously, it was more than what was needed here, but why they felt the need to come forward with that much manpower allegedly, it's too early to say," Jackson said.

Mohamad Bary has sworn entirely contradictory things in his two applications to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service.See at the second link. He should be facing a jail term before deportation too for his breaking the law.
He has claimed that he entered the country illegally around 1981 or 1982, and that he lived here five years — a claim he had to make in order to qualify for the old Reagan-era immigration amnesty of the 1980s, for which he did belatedly apply.
But Mohamed Bary was not here in the 1980s. We know that because he himself said so in a different immigration filing.
In an application for temporary entry into the United States, he claimed that in the three years before his application, he had lived outside the U.S. for at least one continuous year.
This contradicted his amnesty application, in which he claimed that he had resided continuously inside the United States since on or before Jan. 1, 1982.
He could not have lived outside the United States for one year during the same time period in which he had claimed to be living continuously inside the United States. He maintained these contradictory claims as necessary elements to file his applications under the differing statutes — one governing the issuance of an entrance visa, the other governing the granting of amnesty for continuous illegal presence.
He obviously committed perjury.
There is more.

(IsraelNN.com) Im Tirtzu, a youthful grassroots activist group which claims to represent the “silent Zionist majority” in Israel, held a vigil outside the Turkish embassy in Tel Aviv Friday to protest recent Turkish moves against Israel and the screening of a television show that portrays IDF soldiers as cold blooded child-killers.Well done. I'm glad they've thought to set a good, important example, and show that Israelis can be selfless and help others who've been through similar horrors, both before and after their own. Turkey cannot be allowed to get away with their bigotry against Armenians and Israelis.
The demonstrators protested against what they said were the Turkish government's “lies and hypocrisy” regarding Israel.
"On the one hand, the Turks continue to deny the Holocaust which they perpetrated against the Armenians between the years 1915 and 1918, and in the same breath they dare to spread blood libels and lies about the State of Israel and the IDF, and accuse us of supposedly committing war crimes and murdering Palestinian children,”Im Tirtzu stated.
"We came here in order to convey a clear message that would expose the extent of the Turks' hypocrisy,” said Amit Barak, Im Tirtzu's deputy director. “They continue to deny the genocide they committed against the Armenians, they brutally suppress the Kurdish people and the produce and anti-Semitic series that is reminiscent of 1930s Germany. Yet in the same breath they are not ashamed to preach to us regarding a justified war against terror and Hamas crimes,” he added.

Coalition and opposition MKs united over the weekend in their condemnation of UN Human Rights Commission, which voted Friday to endorse the controversial findings of the Goldstone Report on last winter's Operation Cast Lead.I wish I could credit her more than I can, but her earlier slamming of Netanyahu for his straightforward condemnation of Ahmedinejad a few weeks ago makes me doubt she means it.
This time, it was not only the report, but the institution itself that took fire from almost all sides of the Israeli political spectrum.
"The UNHCR, from the day that it was established, looks at Israel through a twisted and disfiguring manner - just like the report itself," complained Kadima head and opposition leader Tzipi Livni.
Livni, who has lately tried to position herself as the more moderate, internationally friendly alternative to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, nevertheless wasted no words condemning the UNHRC vote as "a clearly cynical political vote. Thus, without any connection to the commission, Israel will continue to do the right thing, to defend her civilians against terror, to take necessary military actions, to continue the international struggle against the report and will insure the legal defense of IDF officers."
Coalition politicians also rushed to protest the vote. Interior Minister Eli Yishai decried "an anti-Israeli resolution which joins an anti-Israeli report."For a long time now, in fact.
"The council's resolution constitutes diplomatic anarchy," he said, adding that the IDF treated innocent civilians with "kid gloves," during Operation Cast Lead, even as the report alleges the Israel committed war crimes and possible crimes against humanity.
Science Minister Daniel Herschkowitz said it was "a shame that the UN has made itself irrelevant."

Once the apotheosis of a pro-Western, dependable Muslim democracy, this week Turkey officially left the Western alliance and became a full member of the Iranian axis. That's right, don't forget one of the Bush administration's poorer steps there.
It isn't that Turkey's behavior changed fundamentally in recent days. There is nothing new in its massive hostility towards Israel and its effusive solicitousness towards the likes of Syria and Hamas. Since the Islamist AKP party first won control over the Turkish government in the 2002 elections, led by AKP chairman Recip Tayyip Erdogan, the Turks have incrementally and inexorably moved the formerly pro-Western Muslim democracy into the radical Islamist camp populated by the likes of Iran, Syria, Hizbullah, al Qaida and Hamas. What made Turkey's behavior this week different from its behavior in recent months and years is that its attacks were concentrated, unequivocal and undeniable for everyone outside of Israel's scandalously imbecilic and flagellant media.
Until this week, both Israel and the US were quick to make excuses for Ankara. When in 2003 the AKP-dominated Turkish parliament prohibited US forces from invading Iraq through Kurdistan, the US blamed itself. Rather than get angry at Turkey, the Bush administration argued that its senior officials had played the diplomatic game poorly.
Initially, this week Israel sought to continue its policy of making excuses for Turkish aggression against it. On Sunday, after Turkey disinvited the IAF from the Anatolian Eagle joint air exercise with Turkey, and NATO, senior officials like Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon and Opposition leader Tzipi Livni tried to make light of the incident claiming that Turkey remains Israel's strategic ally.Yep, that was one of the most vomit inducing stunts they could pull. The Jerusalem Post tells that no Israelis want to fly to Turkey now with the way things are going:
But Turkey wasted no time in making fools of them. On Monday eleven Turkish government ministers descended on Syria to sign a pile of cooperation agreements with Iran's Arab lackey. The Foreign Ministry didn't even have a chance to write apologetic talking points explaining that brazen move before Syria announced it was entering a military alliance with Turkey and would be holding a joint military exercise with the Turkish military. Speechless in the wake of Turkey's move to hold military maneuvers with its enemy just two days after it cancelled joint training with Israel, Jerusalem could think of no mitigating explanation for the move.
Tuesday was characterized by escalating verbal assaults on the Jewish state. First Erdogan renewed his libelous allegations that Israel deliberately killed children in Gaza. Then he called on Turks to learn how to make money like Jews do.
Erdogan's anti-Israel and anti-Semitic blows were followed Tuesday evening by Turkey's government-controlled TRT1 television network's launch of a new prime-time series portraying IDF forces as baby and little girl killers who force Palestinian women to deliver stillborn babies at roadblocks and line up groups of Palestinians against walls to execute them by firing squad.
With a new wave of anti-Israel sentiment in Turkey, and a furious response in Israel, the once-booming tourism trade between the countries is already feeling the effects.Maybe even longer than that. But if I were him, I'd rather not rely on countries like Turkey to sell tickets for tourism. This is what happens when no serious attempt is made to make clear to a country with a horrific past like Turkey's that they must own up for their past evils and crimes and abandon all ideologies that could one day lead back to more of the same. That's why their backtrack is no real surprise, and come to think of it, their loss is yet no real loss. If they're going to boomerang to such mostrosities, it's hard for me to feel sorry to "lose" their alliance.
"I can't sell a Turkish Air ticket going via Istanbul," Mark Feldman, CEO of Zion Tours, told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday. Istanbul is a common stop-over point on the way to many other destinations.
"Nobody, but nobody, wishes to fly there... packages are very cheap, the airline is a good airline... [but] people are voting with their feet," Feldman said.
Relations with Turkey have recently been strained, due to Turkey's withdrawal from an international military exercise involving Israel, a series of verbal assaults from Turkish leaders, and the premiere of a new television series portraying IDF soldiers as murderers. The first episode of the series aired in Turkey on Tuesday evening and depicted IDF soldiers in the West Bank killing a baby and a young girl, and lining up Palestinians to be shot before a firing squad.
According to Feldman, "This [tourism decline] is getting intensified, and the television series will accelerate it. I expect this [Israeli tourist] boycott and this anger to last throughout the fall and winter."

Mr. President, based on my knowledge and experience, I can say this: During Operation Cast Lead, the Israeli Defence Forces did more to safeguard the rights of civilians in a combat zone than any other army in the history of warfare.I'm very glad to find a voice of sanity from the UK. It's not often you can, and I'm guessing that some of those who serve in the British military today have the most understanding.
Israel did so while facing an enemy that deliberately positioned its military capability behind the human shield of the civilian population.
Hamas, like Hizballah, are expert at driving the media agenda. Both will always have people ready to give interviews condemning Israeli forces for war crimes. They are adept at staging and distorting incidents.
The IDF faces a challenge that we British do not have to face to the same extent. It is the automatic, Pavlovian presumption by many in the international media, and international human rights groups, that the IDF are in the wrong, that they are abusing human rights.
The truth is that the IDF took extraordinary measures to give Gaza civilians notice of targeted areas, dropping over 2 million leaflets, and making over 100,000 phone calls. Many missions that could have taken out Hamas military capability were aborted to prevent civilian casualties. During the conflict, the IDF allowed huge amounts of humanitarian aid into Gaza. To deliver aid virtually into your enemy's hands is, to the military tactician, normally quite unthinkable. But the IDF took on those risks.
Despite all of this, of course innocent civilians were killed. War is chaos and full of mistakes. There have been mistakes by the British, American and other forces in Afghanistan and in Iraq, many of which can be put down to human error. But mistakes are not war crimes.
More than anything, the civilian casualties were a consequence of Hamas’ way of fighting. Hamas deliberately tried to sacrifice their own civilians.

Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden told media in Fort Collins that the 6-year-old boy thought to be missing in a balloon craft has been found alive at his home.Allahpundit at Hot Air asks a good question: supposing an authoritarian tried to rescue the boy who wasn't even there, and ended up falling to his death? Did the pranksters who pulled that offensive media stunt ever think of that? The local sherrif is going to be investigating this case some more now, as even the parents may have a lot to answer for.
“He was found in a box in the attic above the garage,” Alderden said.
The sheriff indicated he did not think Falcon Heene’s parents knew the boy was there; “They thought he was missing,” he said.
Falcon’s 9-year-old brother told investigator and his parents, Richard and Mayumi Heeme, that Falcon was in the “homemade flying saucer” when it went up.

Sue Myrick (R-N.C.), John Shadegg (R-Ariz.), Paul Broun (R-Ga.) and Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), citing the book Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that’s Conspiring to Islamize America, called for the House sergeant at arms to investigate whether CAIR had been successful in placing interns on key panels. The lawmakers are specifically focused on the House Homeland Security Committee, Intelligence Committee and Judiciary Committee.
Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., received a fax Tuesday from CAIR’s in-house legal counsel, alleging the authors of the new book, set for release today, had engaged in “criminal actions” and warning that a report already had been filed with law enforcement authorities. But Rep. Myrick and her colleagues are adamant:
The faxed letter from CAIR’s Nadhira al-Khalili noted the Washington-based group had been forewarned of the press conference Myrick held with fellow members of the House anti-terror caucus leadership, Reps. John Shadegg, R-Ariz., Trent Franks, R-Ariz., and Paul Broun, R-Ga. The lawmakers called for an end to political lobbying by groups, such as CAIR, operating as fronts for the Egyptian-based Muslim Brotherhood, the parent of al-Qaida and Hamas.
Myrick says in the foreword to “Muslim Mafia” that the WND Books publication — based on a six-month undercover operation that produced 12,000 pages of documents — finally provides the “proof” that radical Muslim “agents living among us have a plan in place, and they are successfully carrying out that subversive plan.”CAIR is becoming pretty desperate now, as they are in big trouble on this one. A full scale investigation into their corruption can't come soon enough.
Holding up the book, Shadegg said, regarding the CAIR fax, “Interestingly, whenever books like these are published, there are efforts to intimidate those who publish them and write them. And efforts to intimidate those who speak out in support of them.”
Shadegg continued, “We need an informed body politic, we need informed Americans to understand the threats against this country. And knowing the kinds of things that are in this book are very important. The latest book provides stunning documentation of many of the things that are said in it about CAIR.”
Franks said the anti-terror caucus fears CAIR has planted “spies” inside Congress targeting sensitive committees dealing with homeland security.
“It’s the water inside the ship that sinks it,” he warned.
Franks said CAIR and its agents are influencing policies related to the USA Patriot Act, the post-9/11 security measure to help law enforcement crack down on terrorists.
“Muslim Mafia” uncovered confidential CAIR memos revealing that in one year alone, officials with the terror-supporting front group made an alarming 72 separate trips to Congress to lobby against the Patriot Act. The same year Congress met fewer than 150 days.
U.S. prosecutors believe CAIR, while claiming to be a civil-rights group, is actually a front group for Hamas and other terrorists. The Justice Department stated in September 2007 during its prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation in Dallas — the largest terror-financing case in history — that CAIR “has been identified by the government at trial as a participant in an ongoing and ultimately unlawful conspiracy to support a designated terrorist organization, a conspiracy from which CAIR never withdrew.”

US troops boarded a German-owned freighter in early October and found eight containers full of ammunition, allegedly headed to Syria from Iran. The shipment is in violation of a UN weapons embargo and has become a source of chagrin in Berlin. This is the same country that's been allowing trade deals with Iran even as they made their evil clear. And they're surprised even this could happen?
An “embarrassing affair,” is how one German diplomat described it. The official could also have added: potentially damaging to trans-Atlantic relations.
In an operation reported on by SPIEGEL over the weekend, US soldiers entered the freighter Hansa India in the Gulf of Suez at the beginning of October and discovered seven containers full of 7.62 millimeter ammunition suitable for Kalashnikov rifles. An eighth container was full of cartridges suitable for the manufacture of additional rounds. The incident is particularly awkward for Berlin as the Hansa India is registered to the Hamburg-based shipping company Leonhardt & Blumberg.
Investigators suspect that the arms were part of an Iranian shipment bound for either the Syrian army or for Hezbollah, the militant Islamist group. US officials have pointed out that the delivery is in violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1747, which prohibits arms shipments either into or out of Iran.
Before the girl gets sent back, the judge says he needs immigration papers proving her status in the U.S. and proof from the state of Florida that she can continue her virtual schooling and receive credit in Ohio.Indeed, as the Jawa Report notes, the parents and their lawyers have refused at least five times to provide immigration documents. It appears they may be in the US illegally, and managed to get a visa to enter originally by using Rifqa eye injury, something I hadn't fully taken notice of before, to get treatment but overstayed their visa. So there may be more here than meets the eye, and another thing: if they're in the US illegally, it means they were making money off of people in the jewelry business without the proper license.

“He wants to kill me.” That is what a 15-year-old Moroccan girl says about her father, who frequently beat her, so she left home. And here's another from Il Giornale:
Her father is a Moroccan worker who has lived in Italy for 25 years. He beats her up because she has an Italian boyfriend, and he keeps reminding her that she is Muslim – “Tu sei musulmana” – and she should not have an Italian boyfriend. His beatings, and his attitude, became so worrisome that she fled from the house and is now staying in a “comunita” (a kind of group-home that serves as a refuge for those who flee their family situation).
At the end of the very short item, there is a brief interview by phone with a politician who discusses how how one political party, the Northern League or Lega, wants to have a national law passed that will ban the niqab, for at present the situation depends on the local officials, the mayor, of reach town, to decide for himself how to deal with the niqab problem as he sees fit.
Amo un italiano, papà mi uccide" Marocchina di 15 anni sotto scorta “This is exactly what the US should be taking a page from, and helping women from Muslim families find the proper shelter they seek, not subjecting them to ludicrous legal procedures.
I love an Italian, daddy wants to kill me” Moroccan 15-years-old under protection
(in Italian)
«Her request for help is heartbreaking: «Help me, I do not want to end up like Hina and Sanaa». She said in tears to the Carabinieri of Pavia, just a few hours ago, a Moroccan fifteen-years-old escaped from his home in Voghera. And the soldiers have moved immediately: "Now the student is in a protected location in Lombardy, away from the parents herself accused of having threatened to give her the same end of Sanaa. Besides, its history, for some months now, is similar to that of two girls, had their lives took for the only "guilty" of loving an Italian, and not a Muslim, man. A script already seen.
The young girl knows an Italian, they liked one another, they start to go out together. He has the same age: a clean story. Yet parents do not go at all well. The father, as soon as he discovers it, screams her again, and again, that she must break off this story. Finally, a bit for filial obedience, much more for fear the teenager obeyed. But only briefly. Finally she cannot bear it no more. She takes up to frequent the Italian kid. And unfortunately she is eventually discovered. The mother in fact found a note in his pants, thrown in the basket of dirty laundry for the washing machine. It says: "I cannot forget the past with you." From there, the hell with the family.
The harassment starts. Her father beat her repeatedly and threaten her of death: "I'll give you the same end of the others ..." alluding to the most horrific cases of poor Muslim girls massacred because they were trying to break free from a fundamentalist and dull world. Beatings and threats that the mother have witnessed as well, without blinking, but rather sharing this "method of education”. The girl tries to cling to whatever is around her, had her friends contact the Social Services, as she will explain later to the police too. But everything remains as is. Nobody took her away from that family that now beats and insulted her almost every day. The angry phrase she hear is always the same: «Raki daimen Muslima u-maghribiyya (you are still/forever Muslim and Moroccan). These are your roots, you must not forget, and that is why you cannot attend Italian boys who are not Muslims. Your father feels dishonoured». Then the blows.
The emphasis that the media have given to cases of Hina and Sanaa moves her react. Thanks to what she saw she is conscious of what can be the end. She rebels and saves herself. And the parents lose a daughter. When she decides to run away from home is disoriented, does not know what to do or where to go. But she proved stronger than she has ever suspected. Thinks of one Italian friend of her. Contacts her and goes to her place. She stayed there a night. The next day she took the train with her, destination Pavia. Once they arrived in the [provincial] capital the decision triggers: to get help from whom, certainly will not underestimate their cry of despair.
So she enter the barracks of San Pietro in Ciel d'Oro, and tells all. She knows that to rebel could win her a life without regrets, where she can freely decide her own fate. And at the sentinel that stops her at the entrance she says, without hesitation: «I want to make a complaint." Allegation that begins with tears, but ends with a half smile. Because at once she is told that she will not return in that house. Finally her terror is listened. Now, of this case, will take care the Juvenile Court».

(IsraelNN.com) A multinational military drill has reportedly been cancelled due to Turkey's unwillingness to allow the Israel Air Force to participate in the exercise.Ah, so that's it. Again, we find a so-called ally discriminating against Israel's right to self-defense and blaming the victims instead of the terrorists who launched rockets at Israeli targets. In that case, I think it's better not to bother wasting time with Turkey, submerged as badly as they are in their selective memories.
The cancellation came after the United States and other nations allegedly withdrew from the joint drill following Turkey's ban on Israel's participation.
The air force exercise, which has been held five times since June 2001, was to be hosted by Ankara and originally involved Turkey, Italy, the U.S., NATO forces and the IAF.
But Turkish military officials informed the IDF last week that the IAF was not welcome to fly in this week's "Anatolian Eagle" exercise due to the use of its planes during Israel's counterterrorism Operation Cast Lead in Gaza last winter.
The operation was launched by Israel on December 27, 2008 to end the thousands of rocket attacks fired at civilians living in towns and cities in Israel's southern region. It lasted until Janary 20, 2009.

The stunning choice made Obama the third sitting U.S. president to win the Nobel Peace Prize and shocked Nobel observers because Obama took office less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline. Obama’s name had been mentioned in speculation before the award but many Nobel watchers believed it was too early to award the president…Naturally, one can only wonder, what did he do to deserve this so-called prize? Easy. He represents everything that the pretentious politicians of Norway hold dear in their leftist elitism. The Financial Times practically wonders what the whole point of the prize is. Indeed, there isn't any. It's just a whole farce, and this year may be the one where people wake up to understand that.
The Nobel committee praised Obama’s creation of “a new climate in international politics” and said he had returned multilateral diplomacy and institutions like the U.N. to the center of the world stage. The plaudit appeared to be a slap at President George W. Bush from a committee that harshly criticized Obama’s predecessor for resorting to largely unilateral military action in the wake of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
Rather than recognizing concrete achievement, the 2009 prize appeared intended to support initiatives that have yet to bear fruit: reducing the world stock of nuclear arms, easing American conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthening the U.S. role in combating climate change.
“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” Thorbjoern Jagland, chairman of the Nobel Committee said.

Ever wonder where the report claiming IDF soldiers kidnap and kill Palestinians in order to harvest their organs for transplants originated? Palestinian Media Watch provides the answer. It was lifted in toto from the December 24, 2001, edition of Al Hayat Al Jadida, the official Palestinian Authority newspaper. So now we know where the blood libel bizarrity began: it was with the PLO, which countries like Sweden so blatantly embrace. And it goes without saying that their ignorance/embrace of Fatah/PLO's incitement is exactly why they keep up with it.
Donald Bostrom, the reporter for Sweden's Aftonbladet who disseminated this fabrication, has said of his handiwork, "Whether it's true or not, I have no idea. I have no clue." Given his indifference to truth, what further "scoops" can we anticipate from Bostrum? Again, Palestinian Media Watch provides the answer.
Here are just some of the charges one could have read in the official Palestinian press or heard from leading Palestinian Authority officials in recent years: Israel will pay NIS 4,500 to any Palestinian who can prove he is a drug addict; Israel produced and distributed to Palestinians 200 tons of drug-laced bubble gum designed to destroy the genetic systems of Palestinian youth; it also distributes carcinogenic food and fruits for Palestinian consumption and children's games that beam radioactive x-rays. And don't forget the HIV-infected Jewish prostitutes whom Israel unleashed on Palestinian youth. Or Suha Arafat's accusation to Hillary Clinton that Israel poisons Palestinian wells.
As the above accusations make clear, demonization of Israel is alive and well in the Palestinian Authority. In every agreement since the onset of Oslo, the Palestinians have solemnly pledged to end the incitement against Jews and Israel in the Palestinian media and to purge it from Palestinian textbooks. And each such undertaking has been promptly ignored.
THE FAILURE to curb incitement has been so constant, so long-standing that it barely elicits a yawn today. But that apathy reflects a profound misunderstanding of the significance of that incitement.
Shimon Peres once remarked, "I don't care what the Palestinians say, only what's written in the agreements." But what the Palestinians say to one another, and particularly what they teach their children, is far more important than what's written in peace agreements.
Incitement and demonization are not just one more treaty violation. They reflect the failure of the Palestinians since the beginning of Oslo to create a constituency for peace with Israel, to educate the Palestinian population to the idea of living side-by-side with a Jewish state or to make clear that peace will also require concessions on the Palestinians' part.
That has never happened. Even worse, there has been no education to accept the existence of Israel in any borders or to renounce once and for all the dream of throwing all the Jews into the sea.
The Palestinian Authority has gone out of its way to make heroes of the most vicious terrorists - not exactly the way to encourage thoughts of reconciliation and peace. Mahmoud Abbas sent his warmest congratulations to child-murderer Samir Kuntar, upon his release from an Israeli jail, and commissioned festive celebrations in honor of Dalal Mughrabi, the mastermind of the 1978 Coastal Road Massacre in which 38 Israelis were murdered.
At the first Fatah Conference in two decades last month, the young and old guard competed as to who could be more intransigent with regard to peace negotiations with Israel, according to the Jerusalem Post's Khaled Abu Toameh. The resolutions passed included demands that Israel accept the "right of return" for all 1948 refugees and their descendants and hand over to the Palestinians all Jewish neighborhoods built in Jerusalem since 1967.
Other resolutions by the conference accused Israel of having murdered Yasser Arafat, urged exploration of a strategic alliance with Iran, and called for the upgrading of the status of the Aksa Martyrs Brigade, the Fatah militia most involved in anti-Israel terror. For good measure, Muhammad Ghaneim, an extreme hard-liner who opposed the Oslo Accords, was the top vote-getter for the Fatah Central Committee and is now Abbas's heir apparent.
The effect of decades of incitement to destroy Israel is fully reflected in Palestinian polls. A June 5-7 poll by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research found that three-quarters of Palestinians reject any possibility of reconciliation with Israel in this generation, even if a final peace agreement were signed and an independent Palestinian state created.

Ibrahim Ghanem, a 26-year-old border policeman from Sajur, was indicted on Thursday on suspicion of smuggling illegal Palestinian workers through a security checkpoint under his command on the northern outskirts of Jerusalem in exchange for bribes and various benefits. What this tells is that even here, Muslims who work in police and army jobs could be dangerous.
Police claim Ghanem smuggled more than 100 illegal workers into the country without any of them undergoing a security check.
The charge sheet filed by the police's Internal Investigations Unit on Thursday includes 14 charges, including accepting bribes, aiding illegal aliens, fraud and unlawful transport.
Three residents of east Jerusalem were also indicted in the case.
In some cases, Ghanem allegedly smuggled 40 illegal workers at a time, and received NIS 50 for each man. He is also accused of giving smugglers sensitive information, such as the license plate numbers of Border Police vehicles, and warning them about patrols to catch smugglers and illegal aliens.
Police also claim Ghanem disrupted their investigation by erasing the numbers of the smugglers with whom he worked from his cell phone. According to the indictment, Ghanem also gave one of his accomplices his ID card, which was taken from him by police during the investigation.
Police claim Ghanem also received benefits, and relayed false reports to his superiors about routine inspections intended to catch illegal workers, which were supposedly carried out at the checkpoint.
Ghanem is also suspected of arms trafficking.
The prosecution has filed a request that the four suspects remain in custody until the end of the legal procedures against them.

Sweden supports the Goldstone Commission's report into Operation Cast Lead, the country's foreign minister, Carl Bildt, said Thursday.Absolutely disgusting. "High integrity"? Something Bildt definitely doesn't have. And neither of these two disgraceful thugs have credibility either. Disappointing is what describes those UN thugs all.
Bildt told reporters in Stockholm that South African judge Richard Goldstone was a person with "high credibility" and "high integrity" and that his report carries weight. He said the probe, which alleged that both Israel and Hamas committed war crimes during last winter's Israel offensive against Gaza, is worthy of consideration.
He added the right place for deliberations about the report was the UN Human Rights Council.
Earlier Thursday, Bildt told Swedish Radio that Israel made "a mistake" by not cooperating with the probe, which he called "independent" and "serious."
Sweden currently holds the rotating 6-month presidency of the European Union.
An Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman called Bildt's remarks "disappointing," and said they demonstrated his "lack of reading comprehension skills," since anyone who read the report would know that it was biased.
The UN Security Council on Wednesday rejected Libya's request to hold a special session on the Goldstone report, but agreed to advance its periodical meeting on the Middle East to October 14 and focus on the war crimes allegations. The meeting was originally scheduled for October 20.
Most of the council's members were against discussing the report until the UN Human Rights Council reached a joint agreement on its recommendations on the topic.
In a surprise move earlier Wednesday, the UN Security Council met behind closed doors at the behest of Libyan diplomats, who requested an emergency session to discuss the report. The request - supported by Palestinian officials - upsets a fragile agreement achieved less than a week ago at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva which delayed action on the Goldstone Report until at least March.

The Obama Administration has now actually co-sponsored an anti-free speech resolution at the United Nations. Approved by the U.N. Human Rights Council last Friday, the resolution, cosponsored by the U.S. and Egypt, calls on states to condemn and criminalize "any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence."Read the rest. I think there's serious need for discussion in Congress about this.
What could be wrong with that? Plenty.
First of all, there's that little matter of the First Amendment, which preserves Americans' right to free speech and freedom of the press, which are obviously mutually inclusive. Any law that infringed on speech at all -- far less in such vague and sweeping terms -- would be unconstitutional.
"Incitement" and "hatred" are in the eye of the beholder -- or more precisely, in the eye of those who make such determinations. The powerful can decide to silence the powerless by classifying their views as "hate speech." The Founding Fathers knew that the freedom of speech was an essential safeguard against tyranny: the ability to dissent, freely and publicly and without fear of imprisonment or other reprisal, is a cornerstone of any genuine republic. If some ideas cannot be heard and are proscribed from above, the ones in control are tyrants, however benevolent they may be.

PARIS (AP) - Somali pirates in two skiffs fired on a French navy vessel early Wednesday after apparently mistaking it for a commercial boat, the French military said. The French ship gave chase and captured five suspected pirates.Uh, earth to AP, you might want to correct that likely miscontexting there. Those crappy pirates DID have arms in the form of Kalashnikovs.
No one was wounded by the volleys from the Kalashnikov rifles directed at La Somme, a 3,800-ton refueling ship, French military spokesman Rear Adm. Christophe Prazuck said.
La Somme "was probably taken for a commercial ship by the two small skiffs" about 250 nautical miles (290 statute miles) off Somalia's coast, Prazuck said.
"They understood their mistake too late," he said.
One skiff fled, and La Somme pursued the second one in an hour-long chase.
"There were five suspected pirates on board. No arms, no water, no food," Prazuck said.
France is a key member of the EU's naval mission, Operation Atalanta, fighting Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden. It has aggressively tracked and caught suspected pirates and handed over at least 22 to Kenya. An additional 15 suspects were brought to France for prosecution after allegedly seizing boats belonging to French nationals. Now, lock those pirates up and send them to a psychiatrist.
President Nicolas Sarkozy called for tougher action against piracy last year after dozens of attacks.

(IsraelNN.com) Developers of a new Jewish neighborhood on privately-owned land in eastern Jerusalem plan to lay the cornerstone for the project Wednesday afternoon, ignoring U.S. President Barack Obama’s opposition to Jewish “settlers" in the area. Former Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau and National Union Knesset Member Uri Ariel plan to be on hand for the ceremony which marks the development of 105 luxury units in Nof Tzion. A new Torah scroll also will be dedicated. Now it's great that a new neighborhood's been set up for Jews to live in east Jerusalem. But aside from that, note that these apartments were built upon privately owned land, surely as privately-bankrolled buildings too. It made me think: if Israeli society is to rebuild and make its presence clear throughout the country, surely privately funded land is the way to go? Because a lot of the building that many seem to be demanding be done appears to be government financed.
The project is located in the Jabel Mukabar neighborhood, home to several terrorists with Israeli identity cards who have carried out murderous attacks on Israelis, including the murder of eight students at the Merkaz HaRav yeshiva last year. Police are deployed to prevent violence that has spread throughout eastern Jerusalem this week.
