A rally on Tuesday for Israel's right to self-defense

Following the propaganda the flotilla fiends conducted, there's a rally scheduled for June 1 at the Israeli consulate:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AMERICAN JEWISH COMMUNITY TO RALLY IN SUPPORT OF ISRAEL’S FLOTILLA SELF-DEFENSE

-Hundreds To Gather: Shame on UN For Condemning Israel! We Stand With Israel!-

June 1, 2010 - NEW YORK, NY – RAJE, together with other American Jewish organizations will gather outside of the Israeli Consulate, located at 800 Second Avenue (42nd Street) at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 1 to stand in support of Israel’s self-defense. Hundreds will gather waving American & Israeli flags, and bearing signs which read: “Peace Activists Don’t Attack Soldiers,” “Hamas & Al Qaeda Support the Flotilla”, and “We Stand with Israel.”

“We will gather to stand united with the State Of Israel, and to let President Obama, and the world know that we will not sit silently as Israel is attacked by her enemies. We stand with Israel in their battle against terrorism. Israel has the right to stop terror at its door, and we condemn the United Nations for standing with terrorists. These so-called peace activists used knives, clubs and fire from weapons stolen from soldiers, and attacked soldiers who were seeking to enforce international law. The boats were warned to change course multiple times, and we as the American Jewish community will not stand silently as Israel is attacked,” said Rabbi Mordechai Tokarsky, Chairman of RAJE (Russian American Jewish Experience).

Further information on the event is available by calling Ronn Torossian at 212-999-5585 or at:

Gaza flotilla fiends attacked soldiers

When I first heard about the racist chants the flotilla members trying to sail to Gaza were blaring out (and there may be more about this over here), it was bad enough. Now, we discover that they even tried to attack the boarding soldiers with weapons and steal at least one handgun, forcing the IDF to respond with lethal force in self-defense. Here's one report from the Jerusalem Post for starters (via Jihad Watch):
A commando who participated in the raid said that the attack "looked like the Ramallah lynch." IDF said the activists had prepared to kill the soldiers. The soldiers boarded the ships at about 2 a.m. Monday morning after the soldiers called on the ship to stop, or follow them to the Ashdod Port several hours earlier.

According to IDF reports, at least 15 activists were killed during the ensuing clashes and dozens were wounded. Some of the wounded were evacuated to Israeli hospitals by Air Force helicopters.

Five Navy commandos were also wounded, some of them from gunfire. At least two soldiers were seriously wounded.

[...]

Upon boarding the ships, the soldiers encountered fierce resistance from the passengers who were armed with knives, bats and metal pipes. The soldiers used non-lethal measures to disperse the crowd. The activists, according to an IDF report, succeeded in stealing two handguns from soldiers and opened fire, leading to an escalation in violence.

[...]

"It was like a well-planned lynch,” one IDF officer said. “These people were anything but peace activists.”
There can be no doubt this was planned - and hoped for - by the alleged activists who organized this flotilla. And as Caroline Glick (via Atlas Shrugs) wrote earlier:
Courtesy of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on Thursday Israel will again be the target of a jihadist-leftist propaganda assault. A flotilla of nine ships which set sail for Gaza from Cyprus earlier this week is scheduled to arrive at our doorstep.

The expressed aim of the flotilla's organizers is to unlawfully provide aid and comfort to Hamas - an illegal terrorist organization. Since it seized power in Gaza three years ago, Hamas, which is openly committed to the genocide of world Jewry and the physical eradication of Israel, has transformed the Gaza Strip into a hub of the global jihad. It has been illegally holding hostage Gilad Schalit incommunicado for four years. And it is continuously engaged in a massive, Iranian-financed arms buildup ahead of its next assault.

Beyond providing aid to Hamas, the declared aim of the "Free Gaza" movement is to coerce Israel into providing Hamas with an outlet to the sea. This too is in contravention of international law which expressly prohibits states and non-state actors from providing any support to terrorist organizations.
A jihadist-leftist assault it definitely was alright. More from the Israel News Agency (also via Jihad Watch):
Israel was well aware that this was not a humanitarian love boat trek but rather an exercise in Islamic digital PR.

The organizers of the Palestine Flotilla to Gaza consisted of some of the worst global terror groups including Hamas, Islamic Jihad, al-Qaeda and their fund raisers the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation.

What made this Palestine PR stunt or electronic Jihad exercise even more barbaric was the blatant use of volunteers on the ship who had good and true humanitarian intentions.

Some of these humanitarian volunteers were unaware that they were being used by the terror group Hamas as Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation used both diplomats and volunteers from the UK, the US, Sweden, France, Germany and other countries as human shields as Hamas attacked a peaceful IDF boarding force with guns, knives and clubs.
Honestly, why are people throwing away their future over political excrement like this? Parents who don't want their children to end up in situations like this must teach them not to associate themselves with characters like the organizers of this abomnation.

Predictably, moonbats like those in the UN have condemned Israel's right to self-defense, and if there's something that's otherwise been missed, it's that contrary to what some might claim, Gaza isn't as stricken with a humanitarian crisis as some might think. Here's more and more and more about some of the MSM's own dirty tricks in the wake of this very serious case.

Update: here's some videos that tell quite a bit more:

A most degrading flotilla

Some Islamists and their sympathisers from overseas want to conduct a flotilla trek to Gaza as a show of solidarity for jihadists and as an expression of anti-Israelism. The IDF has been trying to prevent this, and with good reason, because what if they were smuggling arms?

Anyway, in current news about this, the participants have been mouthing off with hate chants:
Witnesses reported Sunday morning that they had heard hate chants from those on board a flotilla of ships heading from Cyprus to Gaza. The ships bear hundreds of foreign activists who plan to challenge Israel's control of the sea off Gaza's coast.

The chants, which were recorded, included, “Khaybar Khaybar ya yahud, jaish Mohammed saya'ud.” The cry means, “Jews, remember Khaybar, the army of Mohammed is returning.” The reference is to the seventh century, when Mohammed, revered by Muslims as a prophet, led an army that slaughtered Jews in the town of Khaybar in what is now Saudi Arabia.

Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon condemned the chants. “The fact that participants on the flotilla would chant such things shows the true nature of some of the participants and its true motivation,” he said.

"This amply demonstrates that many are not against a particular policy of the Israeli government, but have very real and dangerous hatred for Jews and the Jewish state,” he added.
I would add that any parents who don't want their children to grow up be like these characters would do well to teach them not to involve themselves in politics. And to make sure that the schools they send them to don't encourage them either.

Britain is still allowing hatemongering imams entry

I said before, I didn't think much would come of the Tories' election, with or without the Liberal Democrats, and this doesn't give me much reason to revise my opinion (via Hot Air Headlines):
THE home secretary, Theresa May, is facing a stiff test of the Conservative party’s claims to oppose radical Islam after her officials chose to allow a misogynist Muslim preacher into Britain.

Zakir Naik, an Indian televangelist described as a “hate-monger” by moderate Muslims and one Tory MP, says western women make themselves “more susceptible to rape” by wearing revealing clothing.

Naik, who proselytises on Peace TV, a satellite television channel, is reported to have called for the execution of Muslims who change their faith, described Americans as “pigs” and said that “every Muslim should be a terrorist”.

In a recent lecture, he said he was “with” Osama Bin Laden over the attacks on “terrorist America”, adding that the 9/11 hijackings were an inside job by President George W Bush.

In opposition, David Cameron and other senior Tories led criticism of the Labour government for allowing radical preachers into Britain to stir up hatred on lecture tours. While in opposition, Cameron also campaigned to get Yusuf al-Qaradawi, an Egyptian radical, banned from Britain.

Cameron and May now face a political test over Naik, whose inflammatory comments have led some moderate Muslims to call him a “truth-twister”.
Yeah, right, that's just what they want him to do - twist the truth like a pretzel.
One well-placed insider said: “Zakir Naik is a nasty man who makes al-Qaradawi look like a participant at a teddy bears’ picnic. He shouldn’t be allowed into the country to stir up hatred.”

The Home Office indicated that it was not planning to ban Naik, however.
So there's little reason to be encouraged by Cameron's election to premiership. If they don't come out with any inspiring news, I don't see any reason to expect better from them. Thank goodness Italy's government, by contrast, thought wisely and revoked asylum for a jihadmonger named Abu Imad after almost making a grave mistake and giving it to him earlier (via Jihad Watch).

Bloombert unmasks his dhimmitude

I have long been dismayed by Michael Bloomberg for a lot of good reasons. Now, he's shed the mask and shown that he's a dhimmi by coming out with a clear defense of the Cordoba mosque near Ground Zero (via Jihad Watch):
In his fiercest defense yet of the mosque proposed near Ground Zero, Mayor Bloomberg declared yesterday that it must be allowed to proceed because the government "shouldn't be in the business of picking" one religion over another.

"I think it's fair to say if somebody was going to try, on that piece of property, to build a church or a synagogue, nobody would be yelling and screaming," the mayor said.

"And the fact of the matter is that Muslims have a right to do it, too."...

"What is great about America and particularly New York is we welcome everybody, and if we are so afraid of something like this, what does that say about us?" asked the mayor.

"Democracy is stronger than this. You know the ability to practice your religion was one of the real reasons America was founded. And for us to just say no is just, I think, not appropriate is a nice way to phrase it

". . . If you are religious, you do not want the government picking religions, because what do you do the day they don't pick yours?"...
Such a stupid, STUPID and muddled man he is. Failing to realize he's done exactly what he speaks of - picking one religion over others, to say nothing of insulting the victims of 9-11 and their families. Bloomberg must be voted out of office. When is the election scheduled to take place? The candidates and campaigners should be getting ready.

Terrorists in Gaza still trying to interlope

Such an attempt was made just a short time ago:
Israel Air Force helicopter gunships and IDF artillery stymied an attempt by Gaza-based terrorists to infiltrate into Israel on Thursday under cover of the heavy haze conditions. A military source said that three terrorists tried to enter Israel through the security fence but were identified by IDF spotters.

IDF radio reported that an explosion was heard that alerted the soldiers to an infiltration attempt. They said that a serious terror attack had been planned and thwarted, and the army expects more attempts at terror as the approaching flotilla of ships gives terrorists a feeling of encouragement and support.
This is all you really need to know about how, as long as there's Islam, there will be terrorism. And those flotilla organizers sure aren't helping by encouraging them. Did I mention the possibility that the flotillas could be used as a means of arms smuggling?

NYC's dhimmi community board

Whether they really have a say in the building of a mosque near Ground Zero is one thing, but to actually support it, as Community Board 1 have, is another. A most disgraceful lot indeed, and 9-11 Families for Safe and Secure America have every right to be angry:
After four hours of public debate, members of Community Board 1 finally voted 29-1 in support of the project. Nine members abstained, arguing that they wanted to table the issue and vote at a later date.

The board has no official say over whether the estimated $100 million mosque and community center gets built. But the panel’s support, or lack of it, is considered important in influencing public opinion.

Holding up photos of loved ones killed in the Twin Towers and carrying signs such as, “Honor 3,000, 9/11 — No mosque!” opponents of the proposed Cordoba House on Park Place called the plan an insult to the terror-attack victims.

“That is a burial ground,” said retired FDNY Deputy Chief Al Santora, referring to the fact that victims’ remains were scattered for blocks.

Santora’s 23-year-old son, Christopher, was the youngest firefighter to die that day.

“I do have a problem with having a mosque on top of the site where [terrorists] can gloat about what they did,” said Santora, with his wife, Maureen, by his side.

About 150 people attended the emotional Greenwich Street meeting, were some shouted down others as they took their turns.
Again, I don't know when the NYC elections are scheduled to take place, but when they do, these board members, just like the bizarrely dhimmi mayor Bloomberg, must be voted out of office.

As Michelle Malkin notes, Debra Burlingame, whose movement has more here, is glad in a way that this has happened, because maybe finally, Americans and New Yorkers will start asking questions about the case. But they've still got a lot of work cut out for them, including the rally scheduled this coming month.

Update: Phyllis Chesler talks about some of the religious leftists who are involved with the Islamists in this "project", and who should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for lending themselves to a desecration of the memory of the victims.

2 different articles about SIOA

First, here's the New York Daily News' report on Pamela Geller's Stop the Islamization of America campaign, which has now gotten ads on NYC buses (via Jihad Watch). It's pretty negative, and shows that a newspaper some might've thought improved over the years hasn't, really.

Then, here's CNN's report on the same (also via Jihad Watch), and what a surprise, they actually come across more respectably on the whole issue to Geller's side. And nice to know she did speak at that Tennessee Tea Party rally and let them know that CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in terror.

Update: we could even add a video about SIOA, where Geller asks an excellent question: "are you saying that Muslim citizens living here don't believe in religious freedom?"

Also via Jihad Watch.

Update 2: one more related item where Geller discusses this on Big Journalism.

Andrew C. McCarthy exposes the grand jihad

Andrew C. McCarthy has written a new book called The Grand Jihad: How Islam and the Left Sabotage America (via Michelle Malkin). He's also got an op-ed at National Review recommended for reading:
A number of years ago, at some risk to myself and my family, I prosecuted savage jihadists who had made themselves enemies of the United States. I was lauded for doing so by the Clinton administration. Though I disagreed with that administration philosophically, and particularly with its conception of international terrorism as a crime problem, I praised the much-needed overhaul by which it put teeth in our counterterrorism laws. Our disagreement was over the best way to protect the country, not over the imperative that the country be protected. Our debate was the traditional Right-Left debate.

Moreover, as a New York lawyer who made no secret of having conservative views, I was a decided minority, even among my fellow prosecutors. But that only mattered in the occasional, friendly joust over a beer. Day to day, our politics had nothing to do with how we went about our jobs. At the office, I had friends across the ideological spectrum. Most of them were from the political left, but we liked and respected one another. The bond we shared, the sense that we were doing something good for the nation we all loved, was stronger than any ideological divisions.

Why does that matter now? Because, for the first time in our history, we have a president who would be much more comfortable sitting in a room with Bill Ayers than sitting in a room with me. We have a governing class that is too often comfortable with anti-American radicals, with rogue and dysfunctional governments that blame America for their problems, and with Muslim Brotherhood ideologues who abhor individual liberty, capitalism, freedom of conscience, and, in general, Western enlightenment. To this president and his government, I am the problem.
Sadly, that's correct.

While we're on the subject, I'd also recommend reading The Israel-Arab Reader by Barry Rubin and Walter LaQueur, which can also provide vital insight into the serious problems with jihad.

Rifqa Bary ill with cancer

Pamela Geller at The American Thinker (via News Real Blog) reports that teenaged apostate Rifqa Bary has become stricken with uterine cancer.

Lydia McGrew at What's Wrong with the World is not sure just how accurate everything is that's told, but if her lawyers really did allow her parents anywhere near her...that was truly disgusting, and does not help her condition. Especially if they allow the parents any say in the surgery she's to get.

For now, we have to keep Rifqa in our prayers, and hope she makes it through her operations.

Bloomberg aggravates again

The dreadful NYC mayor, under whom the mosque near Ground Zero has been approved for building, has attacked Arizona's immigration law (via Doug Powers at Michelle Malkin):
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is blasting U.S. immigration policy, calling it “national suicide.”

Bloomberg said Tuesday that Arizona would likely be hurt by its new immigration law. It requires authorities to question people about their immigration status if there’s reason to suspect they’re in the country illegally.

Bloomberg says countries that welcome immigrants prosper.

He says the U.S. has had some “disgraceful” and “stupid periods” in which it tried to close its borders.

Added Bloomberg: “Fortunately, sanity prevailed.”
Not with him it didn't. This man is truly awful, and must be voted out of office ASAP.

US-trained PA military could turn guns on Israel

One of the higher-ranking staff in the IDF warned that this is possible:
(Israelnationalnews.com) During a military exercise with the IDF’s elite Kfir Brigade last week at the Tze'elim base in Israel’s south, GOC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Avi Mizrahi warned soldiers of potential challenges they may face in the near future.

The Kfir brigade, created December 2005 to deal with unrest in Israel’s Judea and Samaria regions, trained extensively in urban warfare and simulated a scenario in which IDF soldiers were pitted against the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority’s new American-trained military.

Spot on

Chris Cassone features an item that explains just how the conservative movement is ruining itself (Hat tip: The Other McCain):
How do you defeat the conservative movement? From the inside. You put up a war hero like John McCain, whose personal courage can't be questioned but who has so little respect for our Constitution, he would have shut down the 1st Amendment 60 days before an election. You let people like Jihad-sympathizing Grover Norquist dominate gatherings like CPAC, because he can raise money, and then you send boys off to war behind leaders too timid to call Islam the enemy. You lionize a flag-waiving, gun-toting, beautiful mom, like Sarah Palin, who loves her country, but is too shallow to understand that endorsing global warming John McCain and shouting "drill, baby, drill" just do not compute. You have Fox News tell us just enough of the truth to garner our sympathies, but then you have Glen Beck calling Geert Wilders a fascist for exposing Islam, (and you watch Rupert move his headquarters to Dubai.) You ask for a limited government, but then you steer clear of the very social conservatism, the values vote, that would make limited government possible.

In short, you muddy the waters, you weaken the cure, you promote cowardice in the ranks. You make people think that the Republican party is your last best hope, that Fox News is "the only thing we've got," that above all, we just need to put up someone who can win--even if, um, that person doesn't represent our cause very well. You create heroes who aren't really heroes, and leaders who aren't really leaders, and then you fail to identify them for what they are -- traitors. You look with contempt on a "purity test," because that, after all, would make the conservative cause true, simple, and victorious. The enemy of the socialist, the radical environmentalist, the globalist, and the corporate monopolist is mental and moral clarity. You pretend that you want another Ronald Reagan, but if someone rises in the ranks, with Reagan's clear moral vision, you make sure he's defeated in the primary.
Sadly, we can't be sure even Andrew Breitbart's network is the best thing we have either. But this is a well spoken point of how conservatives are making fools out of themselves.

Awlaki comes out with more incitement

Anwar al-Awlaki, the vile Muslim cleric whom Ft. Hood jihadist Nidal Hasan had connections with, made more inciteful statements recently:
A U.S.-born Muslim cleric urges Muslims in the United States Army to kill their comrades in arms before they take part in military actions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Anwar al-Awlaki, wanted in Yemen “dead or alive” by the U.S., released a videotape of an interview with him on Sunday, including the incendiary comments. He is a leader in the Yemeni wing of Al-Qaeda, and is wanted by both Yemeni and U.S. authorities.

Awlaki, born in New Mexico in 1971, praised the actions of Nidal Malik Hasan, a U.S. Army psychiatrist who murdered 13 people at the Fort Hood army base in Texas six months ago. "What Nidal Hassan did was heroic... and I call on all Muslims serving in the US army to follow his path," Awlaqi said in Al Qaeda-released footage carried by the US monitoring group SITE.

"Nidal was my student,” Awlaki said. “I'm proud of Nidal Hasan and this was a heroic act… Who can object to what he did? He killed soldiers on their way to Iraq and Afghanistan… If the situation remains, we will see new Nidal Hasans appearing.”

“These American soldiers on their way to Afghanistan and Iraq, we will kill them,” Awlaki exhorted.
When will Awlaki be captured and tried for treason and incitement to murder? That disgusting, repulsive man is definitely a threat to the civilized world. He's just as evil as Adam Gadahn.

CAIR demands Tea Party not invite Pamela Geller to speak in Tennessee

Big Government reports that CAIR, the unindicted co-conspirator, doesn't want the Tea Party to host Pamela Geller at a convention they'll hold in Tennessee. She's got a response here and here.

I should hope the Tea Party organizers don't kowtow to them. At the same time, I would assume that they're doing this as compensation for associating themselves with Grover Norquist and Ron Paul, whom you'll probably notice neither they nor the MSM have ever complained about (and they certainly haven't complained about Norquist). It's about time then, so if they want to repair their credibility, they'd do well to make sure her invitation remains intact.

Update: I think I'll also provide the video clip of Geller's interview on Mike Huckabee's show about the protest scheduled against the mosque planned to be built near Ground Zero:

After watching this, I'm beginning to understand a little more why she doesn't think he's fit to be president. Here's more on the rally and the petition to stop the mosque.

Attempted kidnapping and theft foiled

An Arab tried to steal a car with a mother and 2 daughters inside, but the mom stopped him:
An Israeli woman managed to rescue herself and her young daughter on Thursday after a Palestinian Authority thief took the family car with the two inside. The incident took place in Kfar Hizme, north of Jerusalem.

A Jewish family stopped at a gas station near the village, and the father stepped out of his car to begin filling the tank. Suddenly, a PA Arab man ran to the vehicle, jumped into the driver's seat, and drove off, taking a woman and her baby daughter with him.

The woman began fighting the thief. During the struggle, she was stabbed in the hand. However, she succeeded in causing him to lose control of the car. The thief inadvertently crashed into the guard rail, and ran from the scene before rescue workers arrived.

The woman was treated for light wounds. Her daughter was unhurt.
We have to hope now that he'll get a very harsh sentence for kidnapping, which is worse than car theft.

Saudi woman beats up shari'a cop

Something that'll hopefully lead to more in that awful country (Hat tip: The Jawa Report and Lawyers Gun and Money):
It was a scene Saudi women’s rights activists have dreamt of for years.

When a Saudi religious policeman sauntered about an amusement park in the eastern Saudi Arabian city of Al-Mubarraz looking for unmarried couples illegally socializing, he probably wasn’t expecting much opposition.

But when he approached a young, 20-something couple meandering through the park together, he received an unprecedented whooping.

A member of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the Saudi religious police known locally as the Hai’a, asked the couple to confirm their identities and relationship to one another, as it is a crime in Saudi Arabia for unmarried men and women to mix.

For unknown reasons, the young man collapsed upon being questioned by the cop.

According to the Saudi daily Okaz, the woman then allegedly laid into the religious policeman, punching him repeatedly, and leaving him to be taken to the hospital with bruises across his body and face.

“To see resistance from a woman means a lot,” Wajiha Al-Huwaidar, a Saudi women’s rights activist, told The Media Line news agency. “People are fed up with these religious police, and now they have to pay the price for the humiliation they put people through for years and years. This is just the beginning and there will be more resistance.”

“The media and the Internet have given people a lot of power and the freedom to express their anger,” she said. “The Hai’a are like a militia, but now whenever they do something it’s all over the Internet. This gives them a horrible reputation and gives people power to react.”
We better hope it serves well for the woman's defense: she's now facing the danger of imprisonment and flogging. So let's hope the rights activists are ready to help her on this one.

Turkey slaps Obama again

The New Republic reports that Turkey has let down Obama yet again, but, he's probably otherwise not caring that they don't take to his attempts to woo the Islamic world to taking his side. In any case, as told here:
It was clear that Turkey would be one of the several obstacles in the Security Council to sanctions against Iran’s nuclear adventures. Along with Russia, China, and Brazil, all of which the president has also wooed with extravagant but futile gestures. Alas.

Today’s news of the deal consummated among Turkey, Brazil, and Iran is a diplomatic pretext designed to undercut the sanctions regime which was itself being systematically enfeebled so as to get Moscow and Beijing to go along.
Boy, I think I am so not going to find Brazil an appealing place to visit, if their political structure is willing to make deals with Iran.

Just a few weeks ago, Power Line mentioned the increasing problems with Turkey, not the least of which is their premier, Erdogan. Harold Rhode writes:
The present Turkish government [under prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, once a protégé of the Islamist Necmettin Erbakan] is methodically taking over every aspect of society, including every branch of government, businesses, schools and newspapers. How has this affected the citizens of Turkey? Natan Sharansky has posed what he calls the village square test. Can a person go out in the village square and say he does not like the government? Can you talk freely? I've been visiting Turkey regularly since 1968. People were always prepared to talk about politics - but no longer. Today, the Turks are obviously afraid of something. It saddens me to see this taking place in an industrious country that was in the vanguard of moving Islam into the modern world.

The battle for Turkey's identity is far from over. The forces of secularism are waiting right below the surface. There are a lot of passionate, if disorganized, secularists. Yet if a moderate form of Ottoman Turkish Islam is to be revived, it must stand up to the onslaught of Wahhabism and the temptations of Islamism.

If matters continue as they are, both in Turkey and Iran, then one plausible outcome might eventually be that Turkey and Iran switch places. Iran, after its Islamist experience, may rejoin the community of nations, while Turkey may turn toward Islamism and become a driving anti-Western force throughout the Islamic world. How sad for Turkey; how sad for one of the most interesting and industrious peoples in the Islamic world; how dangerous for the world.
I'm afraid "moderate" is hardly a way of describing even the old Ottoman regime. Let's not forget their massacre of many Armenians during WW1, one of the many things people like Erdogan are not willing to own up about. And he's taking a serious risk of downplaying the danger of Islamofascism. Just take a look at this horror story of another victim of honor murders. Sorry, but Rhode is blowing it there. You can't move into the modern world convincingly if you don't shed the reprehensible "cultures" and leave them behind.

At the Sydney Morning Herald, a writer on Jewish affairs talks about how Comedy Central, which censored a South Park sketch featuring Mohammed, never did the same with products revolving around Drawn Together, a onetime animated production now being released in DVD, which comes with a game featuring a most horrific idea:
Back to the offensive web game - I.S.R.A.E.L. Attack. The game is part of a promotional campaign for the DVD release of the now cancelled animated television series Drawn Together.

The game opens with an evil looking, long-nosed character screaming at a faceless figure, “You lied to me, Jew producer”. The blabbering, squirming, frightened “Jew producer” at first denies the accusation and then admits that he’s “busted”.

And what did the “Jewish producer” fail to do? He did not kill each one of the Drawn Together cartoon characters after the show was taken off the air.

So, to finish the job the “Jew producer” was supposed to carry out, the giant robot I.S.R.A.E.L - Intelligent Smart Robot Animation Eraser - is dispatched by the villainous mastermind to wipe out every character. Forever.

The blue and white (the colours of the Israeli flag) murderous female robot, equipped with machine-gun, a rocket and eraser bombs goes on a rampage and destroys everything in its path, including animals and plants in addition to children.

Got it? ISRAEL is the cold, efficient, homicidal automaton that is programmed to indiscriminately annihilate without mercy. The game borrows heavily from the classic anti-Semitic blood libel of Jews as baby-killers.
While I've never really cared for South Park, something tells me whatever they've done involving the Jewish community that might be negative is still pretty mild compared to this. "Cowardly Central" is a most fitting description of this crappy network. Trey Parker and Matt Stone would do well to sell South Park somewhere else, like maybe the cable station mentioned here.

There should not be a mosque near Ground Zero

It's truly atrocious that a building site near the late WTC's location could become the site of a mosque. More on this outrage here (via The Weekly Standard):
Outraged family members and community groups are accusing a Muslim group of trying to rewrite history with its plans to build a 13-story mosque and cultural center just two blocks from Ground Zero, where Islamic extremists flew two planes into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

"This is a place which is 600 feet from where almost 3,000 people were torn to pieces by Islamic extremists," said Debra Burlingame, whose brother died in the attack on the Pentagon that day.

"I think that it is incredibly insensitive and audacious really for them to build a mosque, not only on that site, but to do it specifically so that they could be in proximity to where that atrocity happened," said Burlingame, who is co-founder of 9/11 Families for a Safe and Strong America.

The 13-story mosque and cultural center will be built on the site of a four-story building that was a Burlington Coat Factory retail store until 9/11, when part of a plane's landing gear crashed through the roof. The building, which will be razed, currently houses a mosque.
It's a serious disgrace that a mosque is there already. They're even claiming it'll be a "cultural center" for other religions too. Does that change anything? No way, mainly because it's going to be under Islamic control, and it's likely that any other religions included could be leftist dominated. The NYC council that approved this monstrosity should be ashamed of themselves. I fully agree that this cannot be allowed to go through without opposition. Pajamas Media revealed the following about Faisal Abdul Rauf, the mosque developer (via Hot Air):
Rauf has often directly contradicted his seemingly tolerant and peace-loving pronouncements with harsh, antagonistic assessments of the U.S. In his May 7 Khutbah (Muslim sabbath sermon), delivered at 1:00 p.m. at 45 Park Place in Manhattan, Rauf implied that Muslims did not perpetrate 9/11 at all, according to writer Madeline Brooks, who attended (26): “Some people say it was Muslims who attacked on 9/11 … ” he stated, before trailing off into another topic.

He also expressed this view in an interview with 60 Minutes aired on Sept. 30, 2001 as well (27):

The attacks were “a reaction against the U.S. government politically, where we espouse principles of democracy and human rights, [yet] … ally ourselves with oppressive regimes in many of these countries. … [U.S.] policies were an accessory to the crime that happened.
What a disgraceful man this Rauf is too. People like him should be ostracized by sane society.

Here's a column about this by Diana West.

Hamas destroys fellow Arabs' homes and expels them

A most surprising report. Hamas has done the job Israeli authorities may not have the courage to do:
(Israelnationalnews.com) Hamas police beat and forcibly removed residents from their homes in a southern Gaza city, and the buildings were then demolished by bulldozers.

The Associated Press reports that the Hamas police wielded clubs and pushed the residents out of dozens of homes in Rafah, on the Egyptian border. The incident occurred on Sunday, and destruction was expected to continue on Monday. Hamas authorities said the homes were built illegally on government land.

Newly homeless residents were reportedly furious over Arabs on bulldozers razing Arab homes.

"For years," AP's Rizek Abdel Jawad reports, "Palestinians have criticized Israel for destroying houses, mostly because they were built without permits issued by the military. Now, Rafah residents complained, their own government, run by the Islamic militant Hamas that seized power in Gaza in July 2007, has done the same."

One woman shouted that Hamas had promised reform and change, but had "destroyed our homes" instead. Standing next to the concrete chunks that remained of her house, she said she and her husband had nowhere else to go.
I estimate these people will end up homeless, because truly, Hamas couldn't give a damn about their problems, and their actions are certainly anti-capitalist. As for the "change" part, sound familiar? I thought so.

Islam dominates Egyptian army

Another sign of how fundamentalist Islam is ruining a country it's long dwelled in:
JERUSALEM - The Middle East Newsline reports that the Egyptian Army has come under the steady domination of Islamists. Egyptian sources said Islamists have risen to mid- and high-level ranks in the army and navy. They said many of these officers pressure their soldiers to demonstrate a devotion and observance to the Muslim religion regardless of their faith.

“There is an acceptance in most of the military that fundamentalist Islam is legitimate and becoming the dominating trend,” a source familiar with the Egyptian military said.

The sources said the Islamist trend in the military began in the Egyptian Navy during the 1990s. They said the Islamic influence spread to the army and included pressure on non-Muslims to convert.

The Islamist officers were said to have reached senior levels of the army. They sources said the officers have pressed for greater access to mosques, additional time for prayer and ritual as well as decreasing tolerance for secular and non-Muslim soldiers.

The main victims of the Islamization of military have been Coptic Christians, said to comprise about eight percent of Egypt’s population.

Coptic soldiers have reported Islamist harassment, beatings and pressure to convert.

In August 2009, a Coptic soldier was said to have shot himself amid pressure from Islamist officers in his unit. The body of Mubarak Zakaria, 22, was found badly bruised in what the sources said reflected severe beating and torture.
This may even be the case with Turkey's army, or it could become the case soon enough. And if the militaries of foreign countries can be as influential upon their countries, that's one more reason why they'll become more dangerous.

Rahm Emanuel admits US government flubbed

Barack Obama's leading aide, the awful Rahm Emanuel, has been trying to apologize to the Jewish American community:
The Obama administration has “screwed up the messaging” about its support for Israel over the past 14 months, and it will take “more than one month to make up for 14 months,” White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel said on Thursday to a group of rabbis called together for a meeting in the White House.

“During the elections there were doubts about President Obama’s support for Israel, and now they have resurfaced,” Emanuel said, according to one of those who participated in the meeting. “But concerning policy, we have done everything that we can that is in Israel’s security – and long-range interests. Watch what the administration does.”

[...]

These comments came during the second of two White House meetings with a carefully selected slate of 15 rabbis from across the US representing the Orthodox, Reform and Conservative streams. The first meeting took place on April 20, shortly after Obama was widely perceived to have treated Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu shabbily during their last White House meeting.

In addition to Emanuel and Ross, the other administration officials in the meetings were Dan Shapiro, the deputy national security adviser who supervises policy for Israel and its neighbors; Susan Sher, the chief White House liaison to the Jewish community; and Danielle Borin, associate director of the White House Office of Public Engagement and special assistant to Vice President Joe Biden.

Ross opened Thursday’s meeting, saying he hoped that the rabbis “had seen the manifestations of the change” of the administration’s tone since they met the first time a month ago.
I'm afraid it's too late to apologize, and a foregone conclusion they'll continue with the shabby treatment. And I hope Chuck Shumer won't be voting for him either in the 2012 elections.

Jordanians burn Israeli food products

You've heard of book burnings, I'm sure, but what about food burnings?
Cold peace with Jordan: Israelis good were burned in Jordan Saturday, during protests against Israel in the Hashemite Kingdom's capital marking Nakba Day.

Hundreds of members of the Anti-Normalization Committee, which fights against normalization of economic relations with Israel, set fire to hundreds of fruit and vegetable crates imported from the Jewish neighbor.

The protest, held in Amman's central marketplace, came a day after Jordanian clerics issued a religious edict that forbids purchasing merchandise from Israel.
Well, I guess there's no need to waste money even delivering the food there. Sooner or later, just like Egypt, our rather awkward treaty with Jordan is going to collapse.

And it's sad but no surprise they're pushing the filthy lie of "nakba" even there.

Lars Vilks under attack

The Swedish cartoonist who drew Mohammed as a dog was assaulted at the Uppsala university by a Muslim, and many hostile students yelled at him as well. And to make matters worse, his house was arsonized (via The Astute Bloggers). Since this is in Sweden, I doubt he'll get much help to deal with this.

Mark Goldblatt says:
Since 2001, many Americans have asked how they can contribute in a direct way to the war against totalitarian Islam. Now we have an answer. If it’s legal, and likely to offend the radicals, just do it. That seems straightforward enough. But how many of us will have the nerve to stand up to a million or so Muslim dirtbags, and to scores of millions, perhaps hundreds of millions, of their fellow travelers and psychic enablers, and say in unison, “You want to kill the Enlightenment, you’re going to have to come through me.”
He's got a point. People are going to have to start standing up.

Update: 2 men were arrested in connection with the arson attack on Vilks' house (via The Astute Bloggers).

Update 2: Vilks is now in hiding.

Law & Order canceled at last

It took 20 years for it to happen, but wouldn't you know it, Law & Order was canceled by NBC this Friday:
NEW YORK (AP) - There was never any doubt that, someday, "Law & Order" would come to an end.

But the death sentence handed down by NBC on Friday caught many observers by surprise. Viewers weren't prepared to say farewell to this beloved TV warhorse. Not this way, with this sort of abruptness. And not with it on the brink of entering the history book as TV's longest-running drama.

What had been intended as the 20th-season finale, a solid but unexceptional episode, will air May 24 as the series conclusion. This would seem an injustice to the show's proud legacy. And an unceremonious end for its fans.
Wrong. This was a justice long in coming. The series went off the rails and down the drain long ago with leftism, something it actually had almost ever since the beginning, but don't think the Associated Pinheads will agree to admit that.
Maybe there weren't enough fans (this season, viewership has averaged 7.3 million viewers, the show's lowest ever and less than half the number at its height a decade ago). Maybe the show was too expensive to produce. Maybe NBC just thought it was too old.
The debate about whether it's too old is a worthy one, but then so is the debate about whether it's long become too leftarded for its own bad. And doesn't the rating tell something? People just couldn't be bothered to care anymore. It told all the stories that were drawn from the headlines, and sadly warped to the leftists favor.

It's ending couldn't come soon enough. We've just got its spinoffs to worry about now (Special Victims Unit, Criminal Intent, and a new Los Angeles-based series).

Update: here's Entertainment Weekly's announcement.

Why is Rachel Tabachnick attacking Phyllis Chesler?

A very surprising case has come up, related to the Rifqa Bary case. A writer for ZEEK, an affiliate of the Forward, whose name is Rachel Tabachnick, attacked Phyllis Chesler for her defense of Rifqa, and the item is hostile to Christian Zionists as well. Chesler has more to say about this over here.

This Tabachnick is not just being unfair by claiming Chesler has direct contact with Rifqa's defenders, when she felt it better to just cover the case from a distance, she is also endangering the life of a young girl. And she's also providing another poor example for leftist Jews by refusing to help someone in distress. Is that the kind of example the Forward wants to set?

Here's more from Robert Stacy McCain and The American Spectator. Nice to see some more major conservatives are taking notice of this case. Even now, I'm still astounded at how some right wing sources flatly refused to make any mention of Bary's problems, including some of the same ones who brought up other cases of victims of Islamic honor murders. Is it really that much easier to talk about someone who's dead than someone who's still alive?

Canada's Islamization

Front Page Magazine writes about how Canada has been allowing itself to be exploited by the Religion of Peace. This even include loopholes that allow polygamy:
Mumtaz Ali, president of the Canadian Society of Muslims, said wives in polygamous marriages are recognized as spouses under the Ontario Family Law Act, providing they were legally married under Muslim laws abroad. – Toronto Sun
If that's so, no wonder that country may be doomed. But it could also be bad for the United States, since it's right on their upper doorstep. As FPM indicates, considering that terrorists could be among those Islamists who end up in Canada, what if they prove to be as dangerous for the US as they could be for Canada?

I can understand now why one of the writers at Power Line wonders if Canada even deserves to survive as a nation.

Obama cuts security funding for NYC

Obama sure does know how to shock, just a short time after what could've been a disaster (via Hot Air Headlines):
The Department of Homeland Security told congressional officials Wednesday that it’s moving to make cuts in anti-terror funding to New York City, less than two weeks after cops helped thwart and attempted car bombing in Times Square – an effort the White House has since pinned on the Pakistani Taliban.

The cuts, lawmakers were told, amount to about 25 percent for port security, and another 27 percent for transit security, according to several reports.

It “just makes no sense at all, particularly in light of recent events,” Sen. Charles Schumer told cable station NY1’s “Inside City Hall.” “The worst nightmare we probably face is some kind nuclear device placed in a container in the ship in the harbor and exploding….we need all the help we can get.”
I suppose we can hope then that he won't be voting for Obama in the next election either? Because this is getting very aggravating already.

Update: while we're on the subject, the FBI has raided a home near Boston in connection with the case of Faisal Shahzad (via Jihad Watch).

Update 2: more raids are being conducted against "cash couriers" involved in this case, including in the rest of New York, and New Jersey, and even in Maine (also via Jihad Watch).

2010's Jerusalem Day

Today, it's Jerusalem Day, where we celebrate the reunification of the legendary city and liberation from Jordan's vicious takeover that lasted for 2 decades until 1967. I'm going to point to this item by Isi Leibler, who's a contributor for the Jerusalem Post, about some of the history, and how, if there's any problems that need to be dealt with now, it's the Obama administration, and the Islamists, who refuse to recognize Israel's right to it's city.

Also, here's the prime minister's speech for the occasion. (See also here.)

Moshe Yaalon says that without Jerusalem, there would be no Tel Aviv.

John Bolton will be speaking at a special NYC dinner for Jerusalem reclamation.

100,000 are reported to take part in "Rikudegalim" (Flag Dance), the special march where tons of people carry Israeli flags.

More from A Mother in Israel, The Rebbetzin's Husband, Yeshua Matters, Our Shiputzim, The Muqata (plus, another one), Life in Israel.

Why is the Breitbart network getting stuff from fools like these?

Andrew Breitbart's news network has plenty to recommend. Unfortunately, there are, as is surely to be expected, a couple of contributors who've blown it big time. Take for example Alicia Colon at Big Journalism, who in writing about the problems with Planned Parenthood, really screwed up big time - that is, she chose the wrong "conservatives" for citations:
Of course when the MSM reported last year on the James O’Keefe and Lila Rose sting operation on Planned Parenthood, they left the nastiness to blogs like Democratic Underground so the lefties could complain that O’Keefe and Rose were being mentored by the horrible Leadership Institute. To them there could be nothing worse than that extremist group which produced such horrors as Mitch McConnell, Grover Norquist, Joe Wilson and, shudder, Karl Rove.
Uh oh. I'm afraid she really blew it there in using Grover Norquist as an example of someone whom the MSM supposedly would have a problem with. As I've noted here before, Norquist is an agent for the cause of Islam. Speaking of which, Frank Gaffney, who'd written about him before, has written another item about him again in relation to the CPAC embarrassment (Hat tip: Jihad Watch). And here's one more important item from The American Thinker.

And I'm afraid Karl Rove has also disqualified himself as a worthy example of a right-wing politician, as this earlier info tells.

Then, there's Matthew Vadum, who's also flubbed big time with the following:
The conservative movement and Republican Party are filled with intelligent, thoughtful commentators such as Larry Elder, Thomas Sowell, David Harsanyi, Phil Kerpen, Christopher Horner, Fred Smith, Grover Norquist, Star Parker, Hugh Hewitt, George Will, Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.), former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, and (yes) Ted Nugent.
Anyone got a thesaurus? Because I think I'm going to need to search for the opposite meaning of "smear by association". Then again, maybe the answer to that could be "whitewash by association"!

Colon and Vadum would do well to have a chat with Gaffney and learn why they'd do well to distance themselves from Norquist, who could very well be a CAIR plant, and come to think of it, why Rove is not worth their time either.

Update: some more alleged conservatives who flubbed big time on this same network include Patrick Tuohey, just by using Norquist as an example of someone who's supposedly for unity, Brian Johnson, who seems to have associated himself with Norquist, Michael Volpe, who also cited the charlatan superficially, Rep. Pete Sessions, a contributor called Capitol Confidential, and even Rich Muny, who's got more of these superficial flubs here, here, here, and most recently here. These are all current contributors to the Breitbart network who've really let me down for their failure to take note of Gaffney's important work.

Ohio woman from Muslim background abducted by parents for marrying Christian

Here we got another disturbing case of a woman targeted by her parents for leaving Islam, and was very lucky to be unharmed. From Vindy (via Creeping Sharia and Jihad Watch):
A Campbell woman of Yemeni descent says she was abducted by her parents and taken to Hermitage, Pa., where they threatened to send her back to her homeland.

The victim, 32, told police she was leaving a doctor’s appointment at an office on U.S. Route 224 when her father came up behind her, grabbed her in a bear hug and put her in the back seat of her car.

The father then got into the driver’s seat, and her mother in the back seat with her. They drove to the Sheetz gas station in Hermitage.

No charges have been filed.

“I’m still gathering information and still trying to talk to witnesses,” said Boardman Detective Glenn Patton.

The woman told police that her parents, who are Muslim, don’t approve of her marriage to a Christian man.

Reached Friday, the woman, who was born in the United States, said she’s OK and she wasn’t injured.

Unidentified men brought the rental van the woman’s parents had been driving to Sheetz, she told police. The men then took the woman’s car. Police entered the car as a stolen vehicle.

She and her parents argued, and the parents told her that her brother was going to meet them, take her to New Jersey and that she would be sent to Yemen.

The woman sent her husband a text message, telling him she needed help.

Her husband went to Campbell schools, where his wife’s daughter is a student, to remove her from school. Campbell Police Detective Sgt. John Rusnak said the husband was concerned that the girl was in danger and wanted to remove her from school.

While at the school, the husband encountered Sean Kilbane, the school-resource officer, Rusnak said, and relayed the story. Kilbane spent 11 months in Afghanistan while in the military and advised the husband to involve police.

Police called the woman’s father’s cell phone, but he told them he was at work. When police called his work place, they were told he wasn’t at work that day, Rusnak said.

Patrolman John Gulu, who coaches the daughter’s softball team, was able to reach the woman on her cell phone.

“The first thing he asked was, ‘Are you OK? Are you safe?’” Rusnak said. “She said, ‘No.’”

To keep from raising her parents’ suspicions, Gulu asked yes-and-no questions, interspersed with questions about softball in case the woman’s parents listened, the detective said.

Gulu learned the woman’s cell phone provider and another officer, Patrolman Dan Burich, contacted the company. The company, using GPS, gave police an approximate location for the cell-phone signal.

Campbell police contacted police in Hermitage and provided them with a description of the vehicle and the location. Hermitage police stopped the van and took the woman to their department, where she was picked up by her husband.

“At that point, we didn’t know what we had,” Rusnak said. “All we knew was that there was a person in a van who didn’t feel safe. We weren’t concerned with charges at that point. We were worried about her safety.”
Now that that's out of the way, here's the next challenging question: are charges going to be filed, as well as issuing a restraining order against the parents who did this? It's advisable to press charges against the parents, and maybe even have them exiled.

Goldstone's record as an apartheidist

It turns out that the disgusting Richard Goldstone, who's sought to demonize Israel for Operation Cast Lead at the UN, has a very disturbing record of his own as an advocate of apartheid:
JERUSALEM - Judge Richard Goldstone gained notoriety in Israel over the past year when the U.N. human rights commission that he chaired made the determination that Israel committed war crimes and criticized the Israeli Defense Forces, which, he claimed, had violated basic human rights.

Judge Richard Goldstone forgot only one thing: to make any mention of his own sordid human rights record.

A special investigation by the Tel Aviv newspaper, Yediot Ahronot, which will be published in this weekend’s Yediot weekend magazine section, will spell out Richard Goldstone’s record as a judge during the apartheid era in South Africa.

It turns out that the judge who authored the U.N. report, which castigated Israel’s three-week incursion into Gaza, took an active part in enforcing the racist policy of one of the cruelest regimes of the 20th Century.

It turns out that when Judge Goldstone sat as a judge in the Court of Appeals in the 1980s and the 1990s, he sent dozens of black people to the gallows without mercy.

This stain on his past did not prevent him from speaking many times against the death penalty and directing sharp criticism at many countries that allowed executions to take place.

Never, it seems in any of his statements, did Judge Goldstone own up to his own actions.

The findings that Yediot Ahronot obtained indicate that Mr. Goldstone sentenced at least 28 black people to death.
Read the rest. Goldstone is a most vile man who should be shunned by all common sense society for his atrocities, and should stand trial for his hypocrisy. I would never want to let him anywhere near my family.

Islamic voter fraud in London?

First off, let me note that I don't see anything to crow over about the UK elections, because there's really little difference between Labour and Tory, or even the Liberal Democrats, who could likely become the kingmakers in this mostly hung election result.

That told, there's an interesting side story to this whole matter, and it's how the Labour party in Tower Hamlets has been infiltrated and overtaken by the Islamic Forum of Europe, a radical violence and shari'a advocating gang (Hat tip: The Jawa Report):
The Islamic Forum of Europe (IFE) — which believes in jihad and sharia law, and wants to turn Britain and Europe into an Islamic state — has placed sympathisers in elected office and claims, correctly, to be able to achieve “mass mobilisation” of voters.

Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph, Jim Fitzpatrick, the Environment Minister, said the IFE had become, in effect, a secret party within Labour and other political parties.

“They are acting almost as an entryist organisation, placing people within the political parties, recruiting members to those political parties, trying to get individuals selected and elected so they can exercise political influence and power, whether it’s at local government level or national level,” he said.

“They are completely at odds with Labour’s programme, with our support for secularism.”

Mr Fitzpatrick, the MP for Poplar and Canning Town, said the IFE had infiltrated and “corrupted” his party in east London in the same way that the far-Left Militant Tendency did in the 1980s. Leaked Labour lists show a 110 per cent rise in party membership in one constituency in two years.
Make sure to read the rest. But really, if they're at odds with Labour, isn't Tony Blair too after all he did in Islam's favor when he was prime minister?

It gets worse: now, the UK Telegraph reports of widespread voter fraud in Tower Hamlets that could enable the IFE to create its own Islamic emirate right in the middle of London:
At the European elections, less than a year ago, the electoral roll of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets contained 148,970 names. By January this year, it had shot up to 160,278. And in the past month alone, a further 5,000 new names have mysteriously appeared on the voting lists.

There are only two possibilities here. Either Tower Hamlets is growing twice as fast as the fastest-growing city in China, or it is the target of massive and systematic electoral fraud. We can have a guess at the answer from the fact that some three-bedroom flats in the borough appear to have 12 adults on the roll. The real occupants, when approached on the doorstep, have never heard of their 10 new flatmates.

Elections in Tower Hamlets have always been a scandal. In 2006, an entire tower block had its postal votes stolen. But this time it's more serious. In a close election, Tower Hamlets – and other places like it – could help tip the balance of power. And there are now rather too many other places like it, with dozens of police inquiries under way in inner-city seats across the country. At the time of writing, I don't know how Britain has voted. But under some scenarios, the real and frightening possibility is that this election was decided by fraud.

There are local factors, too. As the Telegraph has documented, the Islamic Forum of Europe, a radical Islamist group based at the hardline East London Mosque, has been accused of secretly infiltrating the Tower Hamlets Labour Party – and is seeking to consolidate its control by having the borough run by a directly elected mayor. A referendum on the mayoral proposal was also held yesterday.

I have no evidence that the IFE is behind the fraud in Tower Hamlets. But its favoured candidates have done remarkably well lately. At the last London mayoral election, Ken Livingstone, for whom leading members of the IFE vigorously campaigned, saw his share of the vote in one ward rise from 29.6 per cent to a rather improbable 68.1 per cent.
This is but an example of how Muslim enclaves are created to interlope and destroy the west from within.

NYC mayor Bloomberg screws up

R. Emmet Tyrrell writes about how Big Apple mayor Michael Bloomberg is continuing his wilting process:
Just hours after this Islamic brute attempted to kill the peaceful denizens of Times Square, many of whom were doubtless followers of Islam, Mayor Bloomberg speculated to the press that the perpetrator of this attempted atrocity was “a homegrown, maybe a mentally deranged person or somebody with a political agenda that doesn’t like the health care bill or something....” Later, there was more. He would not tolerate “bias or backlash against Pakistani or Muslim New Yorkers.”

Now the mayor was manifesting the Liberals’ time-honored suspicion of his fellow Americans. Those of us who have studied the Liberals’ bugaboos as they pollute our political culture (we call the phenomenon Kultursmog) are familiar with this idiocy. We saw it during the Cold War when suspicion of communist infiltration of government was described by many Liberals as a senseless “Red Scare.” With the release of the Venona files and of research from the KGB’s archives we now know many of the accused Reds were in fact communist spies.
When will the elections be held for NYC's municipality? Because the Big Apple is sorely in need of a new mayor, and fast. Bloomberg, it appears, is one of those kind of people who favors the Obamacare bill, and this is just one more example of how he's screwing up royally, showing why he's not fit to be mayor.

Update: on a related note, Shahzad had contact with the jihadist cleric Anwar Awlaki (Hat tip: Hot Air).

Athens under siege by leftist savages

In Greece, anarchy has struck again. Mobs resorted to violence in reaction to the government's plan for budget cuts that could probably help their jeopardized economy, and set fire to a bank, murdering three people inside (Hat tip: Michelle Malkin):
Riots over harsh new austerity measures left three bank workers dead and engulfed the streets of Athens on Wednesday, as angry protesters tried to storm parliament, hurled Molotov cocktails at police and torched buildings. Police responded with barrages of tear gas.

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in a nationwide strike to protest new taxes and government spending cuts demanded by the International Monetary Fund and other European nations before heavily indebted Greece gets a euro110 billion ($141 billion) loan package to keep it from defaulting.

The three bank workers — a man and two women — died after demonstrators set their bank on fire along the main demonstration route in central Athens. As their colleagues sobbed in the street, five other bank workers were rescued from the balcony of the burning building.

“A demonstration is one thing and murder is quite another!” Prime Minister George Papandreou thundered in Parliament during a session to discuss the spending cuts he announced Sunday — measures even the IMF has called draconian. Lawmakers held a minute of silence for the dead — the first deaths during a protest in Greece since 1991.
Anyone who would commit such a horrific crime can only be deemed unemployable. This could even include some moonbat monsters in the US. And they should be among the first to be thrown out of any jobs they might have. Let them be homeless too, if that's what it takes to tell them what the common sense world thinks of their grimy notions.

Iran must be booted from UN Women's Rights Commission

American women leaders have become rightfully angry about the distasteful UN's appointment of Iran to the Women's Rights Commission:
A nationwide campaign has been launched in the United States to urge Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to denounce the election of Iran to the United Nations' commission on the Status of Women. International human rights and women’s rights leaders, attorneys, scholars, columnists, Iranian human rights activists, media figures, women in the arts, and other prominent women signed an open letter, quoted below. A partial list of signatories follows and additional names are to be publicized this week.

The open letter to Secretary Clinton was released on Wednesday. The signatories express their profound concern that Iran was “elected by acclamation” to the women's rights seat. Election by acclamation may occur when no United Nations member state requests an open vote.

Alluding to reports by the U.S. State Department and international human rights organizations regarding the Iranian regime's record of barbaric human rights violations, the signatories are seeking answers from Secretary Clinton regarding the failure of the U.S. either to request or require an open vote on Iran’s election to the Commission.
Read the rest for the letter itself. But don't count on Hilary Clinton to be helpful.

Terrorist in Mumbai sentenced to hang

India has just done some justice in the horrifying case of the murders that took place in Mumbai in late 2008:
The lone surviving terrorist in the November 2008 Mumbai massacre was sentenced to death on Thursday by an Indian judge for his role in the massive terrorist attack, one of the worst in the history of India.

During the three-day ordeal, 166 people were slaughtered and more than 300 were wounded. Six of the dead were Jews who were at the Nariman Jewish Center Chabad House, a target specifically chosen by terrorists. (Photos of the scene may be viewed by clicking here. WARNING: The photos are graphic, and reveal in detail the violence at the scene. Israel news photo, below: ZAKA)

Among the victims were the center's directors, Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries Rabbi Gabriel and Mrs. Rivka Holtzberg. The couple's two-year-old son Moishe was rescued by his Indian nanny, Sandra, who hid in a closet for hours until the terrorists had moved into another part of the building, then gathered the toddler in her arms and fled. Moishe and his nanny were subsequently brought by his maternal grandparents back to Israel, where Rivka herself was born and raised.

Israel National News produced a special tribute to honor the Holtzbergs and their guests. The page may be accessed by clicking here.

Justice M.L. Tahaliyani handed down his verdict three days after the surviving terrorist, Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, was convicted of murder and waging war against the nation. Death sentences in India are carried out by hanging. Special prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said Wednesday that the execution could be delayed by up to a year.
The sooner the noose tightens around the vile filth's neck, the better.

Obama wants to topple Netanyahu government

Really a moot point, I'm sure, but still warrants some attention in reading about:
Jerusalem — The administration of President Barack Obama has launched what officials termed a psychological warfare campaign meant to topple Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Sources in the Obama Administration and the US Congress have confirmed to the Middle East Newsline that the White House and State Department have sought to destabilize Netanyahu's government by forcing him to agree to an indefinite freeze on Jewish construction in areas taken by Israel in the wake of the 1967 war as well as the establishment of a Palestinian state by 2012. They said the campaign sought to replace Netanyahu with opposition leader and former foreign minister Tsipi Livni.

"Bibi is extremely vulnerable to pressure," a source familiar with the White House effort said. "We know this from his first term in office and believe he will collapse this time as well."

The sources said the administration's strategy aimed to delegitimize Netanyahu in his government and right-wing constituency. They said Obama and his aides have sought to portray Netanyahu as a weak and unstable politician who will destroy relations with Washington as Israel seeks U.S. support for a military option against Iran.

"There seems to be a general belief in the circle around the president that the democratically-elected government in Israel is drunk at the wheel," Steven Rosen, a veteran pro-Israeli lobbyist now with the Middle East Forum, said. "They clearly will use pressure tactics to bring Israel around."

In April 2010, former U.S. ambassador to Israel, Martin Indyk, began a series of attacks on Netanyahu in the Israeli media. Indyk, a former assistant secretary of state under then-President Bill Clinton, has called for the toppling of Netanyahu while his right-wing partners accept a more pliant prime minister.

"Indyk was sent by Obama and encouraged by his American Jewish supporters, particularly [former Rep.] Robert Wexler, to do this," the source said.
Ugh. that Indyk (which is Yiddish for "turkey") is one of the worst politicians ever employed by any government. And any members of the Jewish-American community who encouraged this hostility should be ashamed of themselves.

And I don't think there's any chance the Obama administration can be counted upon to support Israel in dealing with Iran, nor should Israel expect it to happen.

I do not know if I'll ever be as good as him, but I do my best.
