Arabs from Burin, encouraged and supported by extreme left-wing activists, started a huge fire near Burin on Friday.Several days ago, the Knesset decided not to investigate leftist groups for corrupt activities; it may have been for how they get their funding. If any are responsible for encouraging this mess, I think it'd be in the best of interests to investigate them for it.
The Shomron Regional Council reported that the fire spread up a nearby mountain and came dangerously close to the homes of the nearby community of Givat Ronen.
Firefighters who were called to put out the fire were pelted with stones, causing one of them injuries to his face, said the Council.
The attackers only retreated when IDF soldiers arrived on the scene and fired warning shots into the air.

Islamic extremists have launched a poster campaign across the UK proclaiming areas where Sharia law enforcement zones have been set up.There's at least 25 areas around the UK where Islamic extremism and this particular subject are a growing problem. And yet the government fails to do anything proper to deal with it.
Communities have been bombarded with the posters, which read: ‘You are entering a Sharia-controlled zone – Islamic rules enforced.’
The bright yellow messages daubed on bus stops and street lamps have already been seen across certain boroughs in London and order that in the ‘zone’ there should be ‘no gambling’, ‘no music or concerts’, ‘no porn or prostitution’, ‘no drugs or smoking’ and ‘no alcohol’.
Hate preacher Anjem Choudary has claimed responsibility for the scheme, saying he plans to flood specific Muslim and non-Muslim communities around the UK and ‘put the seeds down for an Islamic Emirate in the long term’.
In the past week, dozens of streets in the London boroughs of Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets and Newham have been targeted, raising fears that local residents may be intimidated or threatened for flouting ‘Islamic rules’....

As Pfc. Naser Abdo beseeched officials to grant him conscientious objector status and release him from the military, he condemned a fellow Muslim soldier accused of shooting 13 people to death at Fort Hood. Such acts, he wrote, "run counter to what I believe in as a Muslim."By now, I'm afraid that whole defense alone crashes miserably. If he adheres to that sick RoP, and blabbers what can be seen below, then it's only taqqiya, plain and simple.
Less than a year later, officials say Abdo has admitted planning to launch another attack on Fort Hood with a bomb in a backpack and weapons stashed in a motel room where he was arrested Wednesday, about 3 miles from the Texas Army base's main gate. It's very fortunate, again, that the store managers called the police. This should serve as an example for all gun store owners to be on the alert and vigilant in case a jihadist or even an honor-murderer could be buying arms to write a horror story. And if they suspect wrongdoing in the works, they should and must call the police immediately and without delay.
The 21-year-old's writings, including the essay obtained by The Associated Press in which he deplored the 2009 shootings, portray a devout infantry soldier struggling with his faith while facing the prospect of deployment and what he felt was the scorn of his peers.
"Overall, as a Muslim I feel that I will not be able to carry out my military duties due to my conscientious objection," Abdo wrote in his application for the status. "Therefore, unless I separate myself from the military, I would potentially be putting the soldiers I work with in jeopardy.
"In this instance, I would be failing in my duty to my unit, my army and my god."
Abdo was approved as a conscientious objector this year, but his discharge was put on hold amid military charges that 34 images of child pornography were found on a computer he used. He went absent without leave from Fort Campbell, Ky., during the July 4 weekend.
On July 3, Abdo tried to buy a gun at a store near the Kentucky post, according to the company that owns the store. Abdo told an AP reporter a week later that he was concerned about his safety and had considered purchasing a gun for protection, but had not yet done so.
Police in Killeen said their break in the case came Tuesday from Guns Galore LLC - the same gun store where Maj. Nidal Hasan bought a pistol used in the 2009 attack. Store clerk Greg Ebert said Abdo arrived by taxi and bought 6 pounds of smokeless gunpowder, three boxes of shotgun ammunition and a magazine for a semi-automatic pistol.
Ebert said he called authorities because he and his co-workers "felt uncomfortable with his overall demeanor and the fact he didn't know what the hell he was buying."
"We would probably be here today, giving you a different briefing, had he not been stopped," said Killeen Police Chief Dennis Baldwin, who called the plan "a terror plot."

Major Nidal Hasan, accused of the 2009 mass shooting rampage at Fort Hood that left 13 dead, has retained his military rank and continues to get paychecks from the government, the base commander said Wednesday.Campbell's defense is pathetic. He has already been witnessed committing murder, and should definitely be stripped of payment. He committed an abomination and should pay for his own medical costs. This is an outrage.
Lieutenant General Donald Campbell, Jr., the commander of Fort Hood, said Hasan’s confinement and medical expenses are also being paid for by the military, KXXV-TV reported. He receives weekly medical treatment and is occasionally transported to meet with his defense team. [...]
Campbell said the actions are to ensure Hasan gets a fair trial.
“The bottom line is when you cut through everything we are as an army, we have to be fair to him regardless of what we saw or we think we saw or whatever the case may be,” Campbell said. “It’s imperative we maintain the integrity of the court martial so he gets as fair a shot as possible defending himself with his team.”

A U.S. military serviceman has been arrested in connection with an alleged plot to attack Fort Hood nearly two years after a deadly shooting rampage at the base, Fox News has learned exclusively. And this was the very soldier whom the army was going to merely allow standing on the side rather than just discharge dishonorably as he should've been.
Pvt. Naser Jason Abdo, an AWOL soldier from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, was arrested by the Killeen Police Department near Fort Hood and remains in custody there.
Abdo, 21, was found with weapons, explosives and jihadist materials at the time of his arrest, a senior Army source confirms to Fox News. He was arrested at around 2 p.m. Wednesday after someone called authorities to report a suspicious individual.
Eric Vasys, a spokesman with the FBI's San Antonio Office, said authorities found firearms and bomb making components inside Abdo's motel room. Sources also say Abdo was attempting to make a purchase at Guns Galore in Killeen, the same ammunition store where Major Nidal Hasan purchased weapons that were allegedly used to gun down 13 people and wound 30 others at the base on Nov. 5, 2009.
Sources said Abdo had enough materials to make two bombs, including 18 pounds of sugar and six pounds of smokeless gunpowder -- a possible trigger for an explosive. A pressure cooker was also found.
"He was all ready to go," one law enforcement source said.
Another counterterrorism source said the bomb making materials and methodology came "straight out of Inspire magazine and an Al Qaeda explosives course manual."
Law enforcement officials suspect Abdo was planning an attack in or around Fort Hood, though they say the exact target is not clear.
Police in Killeen received information from the owners of Guns Galore about a suspicious male who entered the store and, after asking about smokeless gun powder, purchased as much as six pounds of the powder, three boxes of 12 gauge ammunition and a magazine for a Springfield 9mm. The man allegedly paid for the items in cash and then left in a cab.
Bob Jenkins, a Fort Campbell spokesman, told Fox News that Abdo was also being investigated for child pornography found on his government computer.

[...] Since he was reelected to serve a third term as prime minister last month Erdogan has been openly seeking to establish a neo-Ottoman Turkish hegemonic position in the Arab world. If Erdogan's trying to reestablish a Turkish caliphate, he deserves neither an apology nor should he be a politician, and Israel shouldn't apologize for the barbarism of the flotilla fiends.
To this end he has been actively interfering in the popular revolt against Syrian dictator Bashar Assad. The IHH has been hosting Syrian opposition leaders in Turkey. Erdogan's clear aim is to replace Iran as Syria's overlord in a post-Assad Syria.
Erdogan has also been actively engaging Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood since the overthrow of former president Hosni Mubarak in February. Erdogan plans a high profile visit to Egypt in the near future. And he plans to end his visit to Egypt by crossing the Egyptian border with Gaza. There he will become the highest-level foreign leader to visit Gaza since the Palestinian Muslim Brotherhood Hamas took over in 2007.

All globalist companies will be nationalised (a minimum of 50,1% ownership must be redistributed to EF governments hands (combined) at any given time, for their respective countries). Investors with majority control who refuse this re-nationalisation process will have their respective corporation expelled from the European Federation monetary zone (losing trading concessions). Ensuring state control is the only way to avoid that globalist capitalist political lobby groups continue to negatively influence European policies relation to immigration and multiculturalism. (p. 1200)And then, on US foreign policy:
I never thought I would actually argue against capitalism but the US model is an extreme variant, almost resembling a pure laissez faire model. 83 percent of all U.S. stocks are now in the hands of 1 percent of the people. 66 percent of the income growth between 2001 and 2007 went to the top 1% of all Americans. (p. 1223)
Is capitalism always a force for freedom? It is easy for “conservatives” to think so, but is it always true? (p. 403) [he then goes on to argue it isn't]
The globalists (lead [sic] by the US) want to preserve Europe as a stable market for their products. It is in their interest to prevent us from becoming truly sovereign. In reality this is called slavery. They want to keep us as slaves. (p. 2045)And then, on Judeo-Christianity, he says:
The Judeo-Christian religions played an important and influential role in building the once mighty West but we also discovered that these religions contained a serious flaw that has sewed the seeds of the suicidal demise of the indigenous peoples of Western Europe and our cultures. This flaw was identified by the brilliant German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche who described it as “an inversion of morality” whereby the weak, the poor, the meek, the oppressed and the wretched are virtuous and blessed by God whereas the strong, the wealthy, the noble and the powerful are the immoral and damned by the vengeful almighty Yahweh for eternity. (p. 391)Must I tell you just how repulsive this insanity of his truly is? It's more in tune with Marxism, and he does signal that he considers socialism his role model, and that he considers capitalism the cause of all problems, not the other way around. A most truly sick monster indeed, and as the part involving Martel signals, he considers the Jewish race an enemy.
Should any person have the temerity to criticise any one of these “victim” groups, they will be viciously smeared and deemed guilty of numerous hate-crimes, the new heresy of the Liberal-Multicultural religion. The plain fact that this situation is destroying the west because it flies in the face of Mother nature – a catastrophic mistake only the native Europeans are committing – matters not a jot to these new pious inquisitors. (p. 391)
I have been storing three bottles of Château Kirwan 1979 (French red wine) which I purchased at an auction 10 years ago with the intention of enjoying them at a very special occasion. Considering the fact that my martyrdom operation draws ever closer I decided to bring one to enjoy with my extended family…
It was an absolutely exquisite experience that will not be forgotten. My thought was to save the last flask for my last martyrdom celebration and enjoy it with the two high class model whores I intend to rent prior to the mission. My interpretation of being a “Perfect Knight” does not and should not include celibacy, although some of my KT peers might disagree with me on this point.
I believe that in order to strengthen the resolve, morale and motivation prior to a martyrdom operation, the Justiciar Knight should be encouraged to embrace and take advantage of a significant reward system designed to increase focus and remove any last doubts. A pragmatic approach, which involves acknowledging the primal aspects of man for the purpose of preparing him for a martyrdom operation, should always take precedence over misguided piety, which only increases the chance of jeopardizing the execution of the operation. And I believe the majority of war strategy analysts will agree with me on this. (p. 1434)
Had Charles Martel not been victorious at Poitiers -already, you see, the world had already fallen into the hands of the Jews, so gutless a thing Christianity! -then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism, that cult which glorifies the heroism and which opens up the seventh Heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world. Christianity alone prevented them from doing so. [quoting Hitler's Table Talk, by Adolf Hitler] (p. 231)
Today, [Christendom's] pastors are the most fervent pleaders for the rights of Islam. Muslims in Europe are for them a substitute for the disappearing parish members. Separate Christian institutions, whose reason of existence is being questioned, find a new legitimacy in the fact that Islam in its turn is also opening separate schools, charities and even political parties. Islam has become a sister religion regularly praised as a religion of peace. (p. 48)
In the U.S., Christian fundamentalists and Islamic organisations are increasingly creating common platforms to speak out against trends of moral decay (abortion, pornography, etc.). Some of these phenomena of traditionalist alliance-building are quite respectable, but they are nevertheless conducive to Islam negationism. (p. 49)
I’m not going to pretend I’m a very religious person as that would be a lie. (p. 1344)
Myself and many more like me do not necessarily have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and God. We do however believe in Christianity as a cultural, social, identity and moral platform. This makes us Christian. (p. 1307, 3.139)
If you want to fight for the cross and die under the “cross of the martyrs” it’s required that you are a practising Christian, a Christian agnostic or a Christian atheist (cultural Christian). The cultural factors are more important than your personal relationship with God, Jesus or the holy spirit. Even Odinists can fight with us or by our side as brothers in this fight as long as they accept the founding principles of PCCTS, Knights Templar and agree to fight under the cross of the martyrs. The essence of our struggle is to defeat the cultural Marxist/multiculturalist regimes of Western Europe before the we are completely demographically overwhelmed by Muslims. I have studied Norse Mythology and have a lot of respect for the Odinist traditions. I consider myself to be a Christian, but Odinism is still and will always be an important part of my culture and identity. (p. 1360)
As a cultural Christian, I believe Christendom is essential for cultural reasons. After all, Christianity is the ONLY cultural platform that can unite all Europeans, which will be needed in the coming period during the third expulsion of the Muslims. (p. 361)
The European cultural heritage, our norms (moral codes and social structures included), our traditions and our modern political systems are based on Christianity – Protestantism, Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity and the legacy of the European enlightenment (reason is the primary source and legitimacy for authority).
It is not required that you have a personal relationship with God or Jesus in order to fight for our Christian cultural heritage and the European way. In many ways, our modern societies and European secularism is a result of European Christendom and the enlightenment. It is therefore essential to understand the difference between a “Christian fundamentalist theocracy” (everything we do not want) and a secular European society based on our Christian cultural heritage (what we do want). (p. 361)
The PCCTS, Knights Templar [the name of his anti-Muslim school of thought) is therefore not a religious organisation but rather a Christian “culturalist” military order. (p. 361) [my emphasis]

JERUSALEM (AP) - A tiny golden bell pulled after 2,000 years from an ancient sewer beneath the Old City of Jerusalem was unveiled Sunday by Israeli archaeologists, who hailed it as a rare find.A good thing the "palestinians" didn't find it. They'd most likely destroy it.
The orb half an inch (one centimeter) in diameter has a small loop that appears to have been used to sew it as an ornament onto the clothes of a wealthy resident of the city two millennia ago, archaeologists said.
When Eli Shukron of the Israel Antiquities Authority shook it Sunday, the faint metallic sound was something between a clink and a rattle.
The bell's owner likely "walked in the street, and somehow the golden bell fell from his garment into the drainage channel," Shukron said.
The relic was found last week. Shukron said it was the only such bell to be found in Jerusalem from the Second Temple period, and as such was a "very rare" find. The Second Temple stood from about 515 B.C. until A.D. 70.
The biblical Book of Exodus mentions tiny golden bells sewn onto the hem of the robes of Temple priests, along with decorative pomegranates. The artisans in charge of making the priestly clothes and implements, according to the Bible, "made bells of pure gold, and attached the bells between the pomegranates all around the hem of the robe between the pomegranates."
It was not know whether this bell was attached to a priestly garment. It is engraved with a pattern of circular channels starting at the top.
The bell was found inside the Old City walls, a few paces from the site of the Jewish Temples—the sacred compound known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary. The compound is home to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the golden-capped Islamic shrine known as the Dome of the Rock.
The excavation of the sewer is part of the City of David excavations in the oldest section of Jerusalem, which lies just outside the current city walls and underneath the Palestinian neighborhood of Silwan. In the past, Palestinians have objected to Israeli excavations in that area.
The sewer, which Jewish rebels are thought to have used to flee the Roman legionnaires who razed Jerusalem and its Temple in A.D. 70, is set to open to the public later this summer.
After more than 40 years, France has ended its ban on weapons trade with Israel. Paris has decided to purchase the Heron TP (Eitan) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from Israel Aerospace Industries. The supposedly pro-Israel de Gaulle - one of the so-called freedom fighters who allowed Haj-Amin el-Husseini to flee from justice and may even be responsible for any disaster in Algeria - was the very politician who led to that atrocious policy of not developing arms sales between France and Israel. Now, that policy has wisely been lifted, and it could benefit France tremendously, certainly if they use it for positive purposes.
With a wingspan just about as wide as a Boeing 737 (26 meters), the Eitan flies up to an altitude of 40,000 feet and can remain airborne for up to 36 hours. The drone is able to carry a wide variety of equipment with which to conduct its reconnaissance missions due to its size – possibly even missiles.
The Eitan went into service in Israel approximately 18 months ago, and is the first military equipment purchase from Israel by France in 42 years. This is also the first time the Eitan has been sold to a foreign nation.
It was then-President Charles de Gaulle who imposed the weapons sales embargo, barring the sale of a French jet to Israel that was developed with Israeli technology.
That event spurred Israel's government to ensure that no foreign power would ever again have the ability to clip the wings of the IDF.

Egyptian rights activists are raising strong concerns after the country's military rulers banned international observers for the first elections of the post-Mubarak era.And so we learn that this is little more than a continuation of common "policies" in an Islamic dominated country, where Mubarak was overlord and kept it that way until recently, yet with any Islamist fiends around, there's no chance there'll ever be a change from even his tactics of tyranny.
The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, the military junta that took over after President Hosni Mubarak was pushed out, said Wednesday that elections will be delayed to November, two months later than originally expected. International monitors will not be permitted on the grounds of national sovereignty, said Maj. Gen. Mamdouh Shahin, the military council's legislative adviser.
"This is a very terrible development," says Bahey El Din Hassan, director of the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies. "It was usual to hear this from the Mubarak regime because the elections were always fraudulent."
But for the military to take the same position, citing the same excuse the Mubarak regime used, "raises serious questions about the credibility of the coming election," he says.
A fair vote is vital to establishing both domestic and international trust in Egypt's new government, and international monitors would be a natural way to ensure one, says Mr. Hassan. Election fraud was rife throughout the 30 years of Mubarak's rule. Parliamentary elections held in November and December of last year were widely seen as some of the most fraudulent in Egypt's modern history.

The tragedy in Oslo, Norway has led us to into some not-usually-traveled territory: Norwegian politics. And as we try to get a better understanding of the political climate in the grieving country, here is some of what we are learning.Read the article in full, and also the one already linked in the quoted text challenging the view that Breivik is really "right-wing": he was part of a neo-nazi gang that encouraged attacks on government buildings. And considering that the nazis were socialists themselves, a trait that's been very strongly tied to leftists, does calling him "right-wing" really make sense?
The day before Anders Behring Breivik opened fire on youths at a Labor Party camp, organizers welcomed the country’s foreign minister. Now, the foreign minister’s message from that day has been revealed: it was an anti-Israel speech in which he came out in strong support of a Palestinian state. That message was something being supported by the camp’s attendees, who were part of the ruling Labor Party’s socialist youth movement called AUF. [...]
In fact, a picture taken by Reuters during the foreign minister’s visit shows one youth holding up a sign saying “boycott Israel” in Norwegian:
We‘re also learning that Norway’s position on Israel and Palestine may not be surprising giving its ties to socialism, especially the Labor Party and AUF.

Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini announced on Friday that Italy has decided to boycott the Durban III Conference to be held in September due its anti-Israeli nature. This is very good. Now if only more countries would just pull out and set a proper example, and not take part in a conference that for all we know could even be hostile to the USA as well.
In a statement, Frattini made clear that Italy would boycott the conference because there are no minimum conditions for participation in the conference. He noted that previous conferences were used as an arena to hurl accusations at Israel rather than discussing the struggle against racism, discrimination and xenophobia.
Frattini noted that Italy chose not to attend the second Durban Conference in 2009 for the same reasons.

The man in the police uniform shouted for the campers to come closer. When they did, he killed them. For this horror, the monster who did it should receive the death sentence, but under Norweigan law, he's only likely to get 21 years in prison.
The gunman who killed at least 80 people at an island youth camp northwest of Oslo used his disguise to lure in his victims, then shot them twice to make sure they were dead, survivors said in the village of Sundvollen, where they were taken after the massacre. [...]
Survivors described a scene of sheer terror at the camp, which is organized by the youth wing of Norway’s ruling Labor party. Hundreds of young people were eagerly awaiting a speech the prime minister was to give there Saturday.
Police said the man arrested in the shooting is Norwegian and had set off a bomb that killed seven people outside the prime minister’s headquarters in Oslo, about 20 miles (35 kilometers) from the camp.
...if this was faked, can we trust any of the material that is now being released about Breivik being anti-jihad?There is a possibility that Norway's increasingly incompetent government is trying very hard to cover things up.

In the video Ayalon answers the use of such terms as "West Bank," "occupied territories," and "1967-lines," and makes Israel's case in clear, factual terms without equivocation. It has predictably enraged the PA:
Ayalon says Judea and Samaria were taken from the occupying Jordanians during a defensive war and therefore the "settlements" are legal.
"The idea behind the creation of the video is distributed in an innovative way and explains the Israeli position in fighting unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state," Ayalon said.
"Israel's argument based on facts get lost in the headlines and pictures. The challenge is to adjust the message to the medium and nature of the online world," he added.
The new diplomatic effort by Israel has clearly rattled the Palestinian Authority, whose chief negotiator Saeb Erekat stated to the official PA news agency WAFA, “With this video, the Israeli government has left no doubt on its pro-conflict agenda. Now, the international community knows the Israeli government is committed to denying the Palestinian people their inalienable right to self-determination and on continuing their [sic] illegal and colonial enterprise in the occupied Palestinian territory.”Erekat can go take a jump, as far as I'm concerned.
Ayalon pointed out in the video that United Nations resolutions on the status of Judea, Samaria and Gaza are just that – resolutions – and are not international law. Erekat was incensed at Ayalon’s stating that “the illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank" (in erekat's words) are "a legitimate part of Israel.”
The Palestinian Authority negotiator added, “This is not an amateur video prepared by an extremist group. An official representing the State of Israel presents a cynical and falsified account of history and international law."
“In its desperate attempt to gear international discourse away from the pursuit of genuine peace to the outdated arguments of those who oppose it, this official video went as far as discarding the United Nations," he accused.
Since the Operation Cast Lead counterterrorist campaign against Hamas, the ensuing Goldstone Report, and the IHH terror-linked flotilla last year, Israel has began to turn around worldwide attempts to make the Jewish state appear illegitimate.

Commentary writer Asra Nomani argues that the U.S. government should encourage democracy "in places of worship by denying non-profit tax-exempt status … to places of worship that practice gender inequity" ("End gender apartheid in U.S. mosques").Trouble is, they otherwise don't have a choice in the matter when you've got a religion that teaches that:
Even if effectual, Nomani's solution misses the real question: Within a free society, why would Muslim and other religious women want to worship at a patriarchal "men's club" in the first place?
Instead of demanding to worship in an inevitably hostile environment, those disturbed by inequitable mosques should focus their energies on creating their own places of worship or attempt to convince others that segregated mosques are contrary to "the teachings of Mohammed."
Women do not have to be treated as second-class citizens, nor should they have to follow oppressive edicts and customs if they choose not to. By creating a space for equitable and tolerant religious communities, Muslim women could help promote gender equality directly, instead of waiting for government action.
Qur'an (4:34) - "Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great."So it's not a simple matter at all. Only abolishing the RoP and it's horrors can bring true freedom for women.

NEW YORK (AP) - A cousin of admitted terrorist Najibullah Zazi publicly admitted for the first time Monday that he was in on Zazi's chilling 2009 plot to attack New York City subways with suicide bombers.Family plotters are a most truly reprehensible bunch.
Testifying at the federal obstruction-of-justice trial of Zazi's father, the cousin told jurors that he introduced Zazi to a cleric in Pakistan who arranged for Zazi and two friends from Queens to get training at an al-Qaida outpost.
"There are three guys who want to go to Waziristan," cousin Amanullah Zazi, who was living in Pakistan at the time, recalled telling the cleric.
Najibullah Zazi has pleaded guilty, admitting that he returned to his family's home in Colorado to cook up homemade bombs. He then drove to New York City in September 2009 with plans to attack the subway system in a "martyrdom operation" that was foiled by the FBI.
Amanullah Zazi pleaded guilty in secret and agreed to become a government witness in federal court in Brooklyn against Najibullah Zazi's father, who was charged in an alleged cover-up.The father, Mohammed Wali Zazi, "tried to cover Najibullah Zazi's tracks by concealing facts and destroying evidence," Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Goldsmith said Monday in opening statements.
The elder Zazi has denied knowing anything about a plot that left New Yorkers shaken but unharmed.
"He was confused and in the dark," defense attorney Justine Harris said in her opening statement.
As one of the first witnesses, the 24-year-old cousin described how the FBI swooped down on the entire family after the plot unraveled.
He said "Uncle Wali" and other family members recruited him to get rid of chemicals Najibullah Zazi left behind in Colorado. He claimed he also was urged to lie to the grand jury.
The family agreed, he said, "If anybody asks questions, tell them we don't know nothing."
A brother-in-law of the defendant also has pleaded guilty and is expected to testify.
Najibullah Zazi and one of the two friends charged as would-be suicide bombers are awaiting sentencing. The third man has pleaded not guilty and could go to trial later this year.

Herman Cain said he sides with the opponents of the construction of a mosque in Tennessee because he fears the Muslims building the mosque have bad intentions and want to implement Sharia law.So do I. The reason the residents could be concerned, to be more specific, is because the mosque could lead to potential acts of terrorism and violence within Murfreesboro itself if the imams in charge conduct incitement within. And that's a very valid reason to oppose its construction.
“Our constitution guarantees separation of church and state,” said Cain, a contender for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. “Islam combines church and state. They are using the church part of our First Amendment to infuse their mosque in the community and people in the community don’t like it. They disagree with it. Sharia law is what they are trying to infuse.”
The former Godfather’s Pizza CEO made the comments while on Fox News Sunday. Residents in Murfreesboro have been protesting the building of the worship center planned by the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro. Cain says he has the residents’ back. [...]
[Chris] Wallace asked him if it’s okay for any community to say we don’t want a mosque in our community.
“They could say that … Let’s go back to the fundamental issue that the people are basically saying that they are objecting to. They are objecting to the fact that Islam is both a religion and a set of laws, Sharia law,” Cain said.
“That is the difference between any one of our other traditional religions where it’s just about religious purposes. The people in the community know best. And I happen to side with the people in the community.”

Arab approval of the United States in the Middle East has plummeted so drastically that it now is lower than it was during the presidency of George W. Bush, according to a startling new survey.I wonder just how accurate the polling on the House of Saud really is? But it does tell that any notion Obama could possibly be seen as "the one" in those countries literally by his political positions alone are exaggerated at best. And guess what really offends the Islamic world in this case?
The poll of over 4,000 citizens in six Arab nations -- Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates -- shows the favorability rating of the United States dropping precipitously in four of them.
U.S. favorability has increased by 2 points in Lebanon and 17 points in Saudi Arabia since the Bush era. But those were the only nations where U.S. favorability is now higher.
The survey was conducted by IBOPE Zogby International on behalf of the Arab-American Institute (AAI) Foundation.
AAI founder and President James Zogby tells Newsmax the results reflect Arabs’ profound disappointment that the high hopes raised by President Barack Obama in his June 2009 speech at Cairo University were dashed.
One of the survey’s most startling findings: The majority of respondents in all six Arab nations said the killing of al-Qaida mastermind Osama bin Laden gives them a worse opinion of the United States.I think that's all we need to know about just how demented those disgusting places really are, and why our taxpayers' money shouldn't be going to them. If the residents of those Islamic regimes are going to support such obscenities as bin Laden, then clearly, they're not the kind of people we should be associating ourselves with.

The residents of the southern Israeli city of Eilat are shocked at a plan by the municipality to establish a monument in the heart of the city’s downtown to commemorate Arab pilgrims to Mecca. It's truly offensive that they'd want to pay tribute to the Religion of Peace by building a site like that and will definitely not change the minds of the Islamists. This should be opposed in as much the same way as the mosque at Ground Zero should be opposed.
The monument is planned for Eilat’s Shahamon Square.
Moshe Yosef, a resident of Eilat and a former city employee, claimed that the venture is jointly funded by the Municipality of Eilat and the Housing Ministry.
“This grandiose plan would include construction of lit metal statues of people wearing djellabas,” Yosef told Arutz Sheva’s Hebrew-language news service on Thursday. “The monument will include an observation terrace with a bench, decorative lighting and a circular pergola. The statues will be visible from the terrace. There will also be images and signs to explain to residents and tourists about the Muslim history of the place.”
He added that the plan has left the city’s residents stunned.
“I’ve lived here for 41 years and this is a central square in the city,” Yosef said. “All the military vehicles which come to Eilat from the local military bases travel through this square. Sports events are held here every evening, and residents walk, run, and ride their bicycle in the area. All of it is going to soon be in the shadow of this project.”
The project would in essence be recreating the Darb el Hajj or “Pilgrim’s Road”. The road was used by Arab pilgrims to go to Mecca and it ran from Africa through Egypt to Mecca, passing from the west at Eilat.
“It’s surreal to invest millions of dollars on a project to commemorate the immigrants from Mecca,” added Yosef. “The last time they went to Mecca via Eilat, at least according to what is written in the project, was in 1883.”
He added that just as the Arab city of Umm el-Fahm would not think to perpetuate the Jewish pilgrims to the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, it is inconceivable that Eilat would perpetuate the pilgrims to Mecca.

The Family Leader, a prominent Iowa group that promotes Christian conservative social values, said Thursday it is asking all presidential candidates to sign a pledge regarding their personal convictions on traditional marriage. She's the first official candidate to take this very bold step and deserves a lot of credit for it.
The pledge is entitled, “The Marriage Vow – A Declaration of Dependence upon Marriage and Family.” [...]
U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minnesota, quickly signed the pledge Thursday, while an aide to to former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman said he never signs any pledges. A spokesman for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, said the congressman has reservations, while a representative of President Barack Obama’s Democratic campaign committee declined comment.
Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a Republican, is reviewing the pledge, a spokesman said Thursday night. Several other GOP presidential candidates didn’t respond to requests for comment, including former Michigan [sic- should be Massachusetts, ed] Gov. Mitt Romney, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, and retired Georgia businessman Herman Cain.
Presidential candidates who sign the pledge must agree to personal fidelity to his or her spouse, the appointment of “faithful constitutionalists” as judges, opposition to any redefinition of marriage, and prompt reform of uneconomic and anti-marriage aspects of welfare policy, tax policy and divorce law.
The Marriage Vow also outlines support for the legal advocacy for the federal Defense of Marriage Act, humane efforts to protect women and children, rejection of Sharia Islam, safeguards for all married and unmarried U.S. military service members, and commitment to downsizing government and the burden upon American families.

Today, the mind-numbing disease of political correctness has so infected the American military leadership that it is a threat in itself. The political correctness mentality was the principal reason why Fort Hood’s alleged murderer, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was not cashiered out of the Army after a shocking June 2007 PowerPoint presentation he gave as part of his psychiatric residency program. In that presentation, he reportedly warned his Army colleagues and supervisor at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center of “adverse events” that would occur if the Army did not accept the precepts of Islamic Shariah law and grant Muslims serving in the Army conscientious objector status. There is some good news however, in this case: the Muslim officer's been arrested for maintaining child porn:
He went on to describe what he meant by adverse events, citing previous cases of Muslims murdering their fellow soldiers, spying against the United States, deserting their units and refusing to deploy. None of his fellow doctors or his supervisor reported his remarks, most likely out of fear of being labeled a bigot or racist, which in today’s military could end one’s career.
Now it seems the Army has embraced Maj. Hasan’s position in an incredible decision made last month by the secretary of the Army to grant conscientious objector status to Pfc. Naser Abdo. He is a 21-year-old soldier, a member of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky., who refused to deploy to Afghanistan, claiming that Shariah law prevented him from killing other Muslims.
The fact that Shariah law is totally incompatible with the U.S. Constitution and has no legal basis in the United States was somehow overlooked in the Army’s decision process. Shariah is a totalitarian legal-military-political system that is designed to control every aspect of an individual’s life and is antithetical to our concept of freedom and democracy. By its dictates, Shariah is seditious.
By acceding to the dictates of Shariah, the Army has tacitly endorsed an absurd position that in effect sanctions Muslim service members to kill non-Muslims but forbids them to kill Muslims. Further, it is an unbelievable basis on which to classify them as conscientious objectors.
His discharge from the Army is currently on hold because he has been charged with possession of child pornography. That should not be surprising: Shariah sanctions marriage of girls 9 years old and younger, in effect, legalized pedophilia. He certainly should be distanced from the army for these kind of abominations.

AFDI and its Stop Islamization of America (SIOA) program are encouraging all Americans to stand against the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque at Ground Zero and the anti-Semitic Durban III conference that will be held in New York City at the same time, and for American values on the tenth anniversary of the worst attack ever on American soil.If you can reach NYC, be sure to attend there. We cannot allow that abomination and offense to the victims of 9-11 to be built there.
The confirmed list of speakers includes 9/11 family members Alexander and Maureen Santora, who lost their firefighter son Christopher; Sally Regenhard, whose son Christian was killed on 9/11; Nelly Braginsky, who lost her son Alexander; and others.
Other speakers include former U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton (video message); German MP René Stadtkewitz, leader of Germany’s Freedom Party; the courageous ex-Muslim human rights activist Wafa Sultan; war hero and North Carolina Congressional candidate Ilario Pantano; former prosecutor and bestselling author Andrew C. McCarthy; popular radio host Joyce Kaufman; Darla Dawald, National Director of the Patriot Action Network; James Lafferty of the Virginia Anti-Sharia Taskforce (VAST); Coptic Christian activist Joseph Nassralla; Iraqi ex-Muslim Paul Gaynos; and others.

The arrest of a Croatian woman in small-town Kentucky for alleged war crimes two decades ago in the former Yugoslavia "brings her long run from justice to an end," a U.S. marshal said. The people doing just what MSNBC would want are truly foolish, as is anyone who bought into the lies spread during the Clinton administration that the Serbians were the aggressors. For more on how the Bosnians were the actual instigators, read here and here.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert E. Wier ordered that Azra Basic, 52, be held without bond pending an April 1 status hearing and appointed her a lawyer.
Prosecutors argued that no bail amount would guarantee Basic's presence in court.
Federal agents arrested Basic on Tuesday. A complaint filed by U.S. Attorney James Arehart accuses Basic of committing crimes at three camps in the early 1990s near the majority-Serbian settlement of Cardak in Derventa in Bosnia.
The Croatian woman locals in Stanton knew as "Issabella" settled years ago in this rural, hilly area and took jobs bathing elderly nursing home patients and working at a sandwich factory.
This week, acquaintances were shocked to hear the secret that Bosnian war crimes investigators said Basic has been hiding for two decades.
As a soldier in the Croatian army, she killed a prisoner and tortured others by forcing them to drink human blood and gasoline, authorities said.
'Shocking'
U.S. Marshal Loren "Squirrel" Carl said considering the "shocking nature" of the accusations, officers were relieved to have captured Basic.
"This brings her long run from justice to an end," Carl said.
According to court documents, Basic is charged with fatally stabbing a prisoner in the neck in 1992 during the bloody conflict in the Balkans.
Court documents accuse her of numerous other atrocities, including: Setting a prisoner ablaze, pulling out prisoners' fingernails with pliers, ripping off a man's ear with pliers and carving crosses and the letter "S" into another man's flesh.
The accusations were "very shocking" to 44-year-old former neighbor Brian Rice.
"She's a pretty nice person," said Rice, who lived near her for about two years until she moved in November. "If I was standing here right now and ... she drove by, she would throw her hand up and if the window was down, she would speak and say 'hi' by my name."
An elderly woman who came under Basic's care also had a favorable impression of her.
"She's a lovely person, very diligent in her work," said 88-year-old Henrietta Kirchner, who was one of Basic's patients at the Stanton Nursing Center for about a week when she was recovering from a broken leg.

U.S. airports have suffered more than 25,000 security breaches under the watch of the Transportation Security Administration in the past ten years, a House subcommittee on national security reported today. It's worth arguing that even the Dubya administration has to shoulder some blame for this mess, which may even involve a considerable amount of political correctness that makes it near impossible to profile possible terror suspects correctly.
At a hearing today of the House subcommittee on National Security, Homeland Defense and Foreign Operations, lawmakers reported thousands of breaches and slammed the TSA for what members saw as a litany of security lapses at airports across the country.
According to numbers provided to the committee by the TSA, more than 14,000 people accessed sensitive areas of airports and around 6,000 passengers and pieces of luggage were able to make it past security checkpoints without proper screening.
Some 1,388 breaches occurred at the perimeter areas of airports, such as at JFK, where a quarter-mile of perimeter fence has been missing for four years.
Airports are responsible for monitoring and maintaining perimeter security, although the TSA is responsible for enforcing guidelines.
In a statement to ABC News, the TSA said the 25,000 breaches “represent a tiny fraction of one percent” of the billions of passengers screened at the nation’s airports since the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks. “Airports today are safer than ever before,” the statement said.
However, Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz called TSA’s operating procedures “security theater.”
“There’s a better, smarter, safer way to do this, and the TSA isn’t prioritizing here,” Chaffetz said. “How do we be more secure but less invasive? We have to find that balance.”
Florida Republican Rep. John Micah was less sparing in his assessment.
“We’ve created an agency that’s run pell-mell away from security and turned into huge unthinking, non-risk-based bureaucracy,” Mica said. “Everywhere I turn I’m appalled at what’s taking place.”

Here’s another, more personal, anecdote of how attention can backfire on Islamists (complete details here). After Seattle’s Everett Community College invited me to come and speak on May 5, one Jaffar (“Jeff”) Siddiqui, who has a long history of trying to quash free speech on Islam, began pressuring the college to cancel my talk, including by writing a letter — titled “Don’t Invite Bigots!” — to its president. [...]This is something some people on the left don't always consider either - if they start drawing attention to what they don't like, and go miles out of their way to be irrational about it, the result is that it can backfire upon them. What the people who see this silly show of theirs can do in response is to research what Islam and the Koran are like, and can then form an opinion, and overall, realize that the Islamists have something to hide.
To CAIR’S chagrin, the college refused to cave in, pointing out that my appearance was “consistent with the belief that students be exposed to a variety of views.”
Now, consider how CAIR caused an otherwise local event to snowball into something detrimental to its cause — simply by complaining about it, that is, drawing attention to it:
For starters, much media attention followed — attention that would never have been if not for CAIR’s howling — including a featured story for MSNBC on whether Islam is a “Terror threat or peaceful religion?” The over 3,000 comments on this report alone reveal that, as “leftist” as MSNBC is, many of its readers are aware of the Islamist agenda; others wonder why CAIR is so scared of free speech.
Moreover, that CAIR cried wolf yet again — and was ignored — not only embarrassed but publicly belittled CAIR’s influence. A community college defying Islamist threats and intimidation must surely shine as an example for other institutions that may actually be interested in promoting diversity of views —institutions that would never have even known that bullies like CAIR could be so easily ignored, if not for all the attention CAIR itself created.
In short, politically active Islamists must walk a fine line, must choose their fights carefully: if they scream bloody murder to silence free speech — scream “racist,” “hater,” “Islamophobe” — they risk bringing unwanted attention that backfires on them; yet if they sit back and do nothing, they risk having more and more people speak up and expose them.
Either way — whether CAIR or its un-stifled opponents make the noise — the result is the same: Americans, wondering why Islam is always in the spotlight, begin inquiring; some become acquainted with reality, and go on to discuss it with friends and family.

Three separate explosions tore through a business district in India’s Mumbai Wednesday, leaving at least eight people dead and 54 injured, authorities said. Less than an hour after the series of blasts, its Home Ministry confirmed a terrorist attack and placed the entire city on high alert. The UK Telegraph says:
Although no group claimed responsibility, the explosions hit locations where a terror siege nearly three years ago killed 166 people. Wednesday also coincided with the birthday of the lone surviving gunman of the 2008 attack.
Indian officials say they suspect the responsibility of Wednesday's attack rests with the Indian Mujahideen, a group that works closely with Lashkar-e-Taiba, is the group accused of being behind the 2008 attack.
Inevitably suspicion falls on Pakistan and its Lashkar-e-Taiba terror group, which was behind the 2008 attacks. Particularly as it comes on the apparent birthday of Ajmal Qasab, the only gunman captured alive in that attack. So it’s no surprise that Pakistan’s prime minister and president have got in fast with their condemnation. Talks are due later this month between the two nuclear-armed rivals and now is a time for cool heads. This could well be linked to Mumbai’s criminal underworld or to one of India’s own terrorist groups.Unsurprisingly, they won't say the word "jihadists".

Protesters loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad briefly broke into the US embassy in Damascus on Monday, while security guards at the French embassy used live ammunition to prevent them gaining access, diplomats told Reuters.Am I noticing correctly, or are they still being naive? Do they really expect the Assad regime to comply with their wishes now that Syria's dictatorship has really sunk to extremes? But if anything's clear, it's that the diplomats may have to evacuate - and soon.
No casualties were reported in the attacks, which followed a visit by the US and French ambassadors to the city of Hama last week in support of the hundreds of thousands of pro-democracy demonstrators there despite a harsh crackdown by Assad gunmen.
Assad accused the United States - and Ambassador Robert Ford - of trying to incite the populace against his regime, also saying the US flag was flown in support of the protesters.
But State Department officials on Monday formally condemned Syria for failing to protect the US embassy complex in Damascus from a violent assault it said was encouraged by a pro-government Syrian television station.
"A television station that is heavily influenced by Syrian authorities encouraged this violent demonstration," the State Department said in a statement.

Israel National News reports that the Library of Congress archives contains some important info on the expulsion of Jews from Jerusalem circa 1948:Every now and then, a treasure is unearthed not by archaeologists digging in the ground, but by historians and others seeking information among the stacks of books in a library.Make sure to check out the whole posting by Ben David. This is very important history, showing how Arab/Islamic movements at the time were the aggressors, and not the "victims" they so much want people to think they were.
Writer and analyst Lenny Ben David was doing exactly that when he came across a massive Library of Congress photo archive of life in Palestine, circa early 1900s. Prior to its rebirth as a commonwealth, the lands of the State of Israel were all referred to as Palestine by the British.
Ben David, a former diplomat and lobbyist, writes on his blog, “As I skimmed through the pictures, one theme caught my eye – the expulsion of Jews from Jerusalem. Time and again.”
Works of art that depict the Roman destruction of the Holy Temple and the Jewish people being led from Jerusalem into captivity in 70 CE are not uncommon.
But Ben David saw that the Library of Congress had carefully archived photos of Jews being evacuated during Arab pogroms in 1929 – the same year the Jews of Hevron were massacred – and in 1936.
The archive also contains photos by Life Magazine photographer John Phillips, who in 1948 managed to catch on film the horror and tragedy of Jews once more being captured or expelled from their homes in the Old Jerusalem's Jewish Quarter by Jordanian soldiers.
“Too many times,” writes Ben David. “It led me to post a photo essay: The Jewish People Will Not Be Expelled from Jerusalem Again.”
In the essay, he made sure to include shots of the Jews' expulsion from Jerusalem in 1929, 1936 and 1948 – to remind, and to ensure that it can never happen again.

The US House of Representatives voted 407-6 to pass a non-binding resolution backing the suspension of funds to the cash-strapped Palestinian Authority should it pursue its bid for a unilateral declaration of statehood by the United Nations in September. This is unsatisfying, because if they were really serious, they would vote to cancel all funding altogether, even if it couldn't be binding. It asks how much longer either side of the Congress is going to keep this up before they recognize that an outfit formed by terrorists cannot be recognized.
The resolution comes a week after the US Senate unanimously approved a similar resolution.
The House resolution also calls for the Obama administration to consider suspending aid the the PA in light of its unity deal with Hamas terror organization. The resolution is non-binding because, constitutionally, foreign policy is the purview of the President of the United States.
The House initially debated the resolution on Wednesday, but postponed the vote to ensure lawmakers had a chance to vote. Republicans and Democrats signaled their strong support for Israel and a resumption of direct negotiations that collapsed last fall.
"We stand by Israel as our most valued ally. It is time for the Palestinian Authority to accept a peaceful solution to this conflict," said House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va.

The 9/11 memorial will not identify Christine Lee Hanson, who died with her parents when United Airlines Flight 175 was slammed into the South Tower, as being "age 2." This might convince you that the American victims were "innocent" and the foreign terrorists "guilty."One of the biggest problems in the US is how it's been overrrun for a very long time by political correctness. And it's something that needs to be fixed. Because it's still going, even now.
That would be telling us what to think.
It will not include the initials FDNY, NYPD or PAPD. It will not include the words "firefighter" or "police officer."
Recognizing the heroism and sacrifice of the firefighters and police officers would contrast those virtues with the barbarism and crime of the terrorists.
And though Mr. Bloomberg has said our values demand a Ground Zero Mosque, he will not allow the Rev. Mychal Judge, the FDNY chaplain who died while praying the Lord's Prayer in the lobby of WTC 1, to be identified as "Fire Chaplain Father" Mychal Judge.
It is only traditional Judeo-Christian values that have no place at Ground Zero.
The photo of the three firefighters raising the flag at Ground Zero became as iconic of Sept. 11 as Joe Rosenthal's famous photo of the Marines' flag-raising at Iwo Jima was of World War II. So you know its fate.
This historic and symbolic act will not be depicted or recognized in any way. The design of the "national" Sept. 11 memorial will not, therefore, honor the values targeted and will deny them as deserving of our defense and sacrifice.
"How do we commemorate the countless accumulated memories of the attacks?" the 13-member memorial jury disingenuously asked in describing their task. Their answer? Eliminate all that we, the people, remember of the terrorist attacks.
This at the place where America was attacked.
One reason the Sept.11 attacks succeeded was the scourge of political correctness. It dictated that our national security officials could not track or investigate Middle Eastern men in America despite their "suspicious" behavior (such as learning how to fly jetliners without any interest in learning how to take off or land). Evidently, we have learned nothing. The National September 11 Memorial at the World Trade Center is not, nor is it intended to be, a genuine and lasting commemoration of Sept. 11. Rather, it is political correctness gone mad.

Police at the airport had only one demonstration to deal with overnight – an outpouring of pro-Israel exuberance from a group of recently arrived immigrants from France. The young immigrants came to hold a counter-demonstration against the planned anti-Israel demonstration. What can this tell us? That some of these leftists hopefully are beginning to realize that there's much better things to do with their time than try to help an evil ideology that's even committed acts of sexual harrassment, rape and other violence. There are much better things to do with their time, like go to a sports game, for example.

Muslim women can be forced to remove their face veils during routine car stops under new powers granted to NSW police.Another amazing thing in this whole affair is that the Islamic Council in Australia did not oppose the move:
Premier Barry O'Farrell said cabinet had approved the move on Monday so police could properly identify motorists or any other people suspected of committing a crime.
"I don't care whether a person is wearing a motor cycle helmet, a burqa, niqab, face veil or anything else, the police should be allowed to require those people to make their identification clear," he said in a statement.
Mr O'Farrell later defended the move, saying the state's Islamic Council has said the wearing of face veils is not compulsory. In the USA, it's possible CAIR, by contrast, would take the opposite stance. Kudos to the NSW legislation for having the guts it took to ensure the police can work properly.
"The good news is that the Islamic Council of NSW has made the point that it's not compulsory in relation to their religion," Mr O'Farrell told reporters in Sydney on Monday night.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — The Army psychiatrist charged in the deadly Fort Hood rampage will be tried in a military court and face the death penalty if convicted, the commanding general for the Texas military post announced Wednesday.Hasan must receive the death penalty for his savage crimes, and the military tribunal in charge of the case must hand it to him if they're to be taken seriously.
Maj. Nidal Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the November 2009 shooting spree. [...]
Two Army colonels who reviewed the case previously recommended that Hasan, 40, should be court-martialed and face the death penalty. [...]
Witnesses testified that a gunman wearing an Army combat uniform shouted “Allahu Akbar!” — which is Arabic for “God is great!” — and started shooting in a small but crowded medical building where deploying soldiers are vaccinated and undergo other tests. The gunman fired rapidly, pausing only to reload, even shooting some people as they hid under tables or fled the building, witnesses said. He fatally shot two people who tried to stop him by throwing chairs, and killed three soldiers who were protecting civilian nurses, according to testimony.
The gunman was identified as Hasan, an American-born Muslim who was scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan the following month. Before the attack, Hasan bought a laser-equipped semiautomatic handgun and repeatedly visited a firing range, where he honed his skills by shooting at the heads on silhouette targets, witnesses testified during the hearing.

Since we live in a craven age, let's salute our few heroes. Meet Jessica Felber, a 21-year-old Lioness of Judah, who's suing the University of California for failing to protect her civil rights.I find his credentials as a Conservative Judaist questionable too. He clearly isn't very honest, and does not deserve his position as a university bigwig. If he ends up having to pay a hefty sum, it'll be richly deserved.
Felber is a student activist at Berkeley who simply asserts her right to stand on campus and hold a sign saying, "Israel Wants Peace," without subsequently needing urgent medical attention. What Jew can count on that right on a UC campus these days?
In March 2010, Felber was violently assaulted by Husam Zakharia, the leader of Students for Justice in Palestine, as she peacefully held her sign at a pro-Israel event. UC authorities "were fully aware that Zakharia, the SJP and similar student groups had been involved in other incidents on campus to incite violence against and intimidate Jewish and other students," says her renowned lawyer, Neal Sher. Nevertheless, "[d]efendants took no reasonable steps to protect Ms. Felber and others."
Felber names UC President Mark Yudof in her lawsuit and therein lies a tale. Yudof took office in 2008 amidst a blaze of schmaltzy headlines like, "New University President Keeps Kosher, Loves Israel." Yudof boasted about his wife, Judy, the first woman to serve as international president of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, and proclaimed, "I am a very strong advocate of Israel."
Well, if you say so, sir. If by "very strong advocate of Israel," you mean using your powers as UC President to ignore 63 faculty members who wrote you, "We, faculty at the University of California-Irvine, are deeply disturbed about activities on campus that foment hatred against Jews and Israelis... Some community members, students, and faculty indeed feel intimidated, and at times even unsafe."
Or maybe your "strong advocacy" includes empowering lunatic anti-Semitic professors that ride herd over whole departments, corrupt academic integrity, and punish students who disagree with their "Israel is a Nazi state" harangues.
Tammi Rossman-Benjamin, a lecturer at UC Santa Cruz, has filed suit against UC, claiming that the Santa Cruz campus constitutes a hostile environment for Jews. Benjamin maintains that university-sponsored, faculty-generated events have "crossed the line from anti-Israel to anti-Semitic." Federal authorities are now investigating whether Santa Cruz's treatment of Jews violates Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.
This is "strong advocacy," Mr. Yudof? What does complete abdication of responsibility look like?
Here's the unsettling question that now bedevils us: how did a self-proclaimed committed Jew and lover of Israel find himself at the business end of two lawsuits accusing him of anti-Semitism?
Just lucky, I guess.
