UK embassy in Iran attacked

Britain's getting another taste of how their appeasement tactics will not work long-term. Their embassy in Tehran was invaded by bloodthirsties:
Protesters described by state media as "students" broke into the British embassy in Tehran today, some throwing stones and "petrol bombs" and others getting inside and destroying documents. There were also reports of an attack on a second British diplomatic compound.

This follows the vote by Iran's parliament on Sunday to further reduce ties with the U.K. because of Britain's support for tighter sanctions on Iran due to its suspected pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Iran's Press TV says "hundreds of Iranian students have pulled down the [British] flag and demanded the expulsion of the British envoy to Tehran."

The BBC says the attackers "were ... shown live on Iranian state TV throwing stones at embassy windows and breaking them. Britain's The Telegraph, which is live-blogging, reports that "petrol bombs are being thrown," but that "Iranian security forces are attempting to eject [the] protesters," according to Iran's Fars News Agency.

The only story about the incident so far at Fars' English newssite only mentions a protest "in front of the British embassy" where a British flag was burned and there were shouts of: "Down with Britain", "Down with America", "Down with Israel" and "Students are Awake and Hate Britain."

The Telegraph adds that "British officials said they were urgently trying to establish whereabouts of staff and the scope of the threat unleashed by the breach."
Meryl Yourish notes that when the Israeli embassy in Egypt was attacked, not much condemnation was made, whereas the current attack on the UK embassy in Iran gets a condemnation from the UN. At least it seems they're issuing one.

Following this, the UK has shut down the Iranian embassy in their country and ordered the "diplomats" over there to scoot.

Predictably, the Muslim Brotherhood and Salafists have big lead in Egyptian election

As this info signals, the darkness is only just beginning (Hat tip: Jihad Watch):
(ANSAmed) - CAIRO - The Muslim Brotherhood are the top party in Egypt according to the first reports by local press outlets. While vote counting continues for the uninominal part of the first post-Mubarak parliamentary elections, indications show that the Freedom and Justice party, which is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Salafi party coalition Al Nour are in the lead in six governorates, according to the daily paper Al Ahram. According to the daily Al Shouruk, Freedom and Justice raked in 47% of the votes while the secular and moderate Egyptian Bloc coalition received 22%. In the first round of voting, which ended yesterday, the residents of nine governorates cast their votes, including those in Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, Asyut and Port Said.(ANSAmed).
Some "spring" alright. More like blizzard freezing, and hell burning over. And it's disgusting how movements with totalitarian inspirations blatantly use positive words to name their parties.

Almost censored journalist damages ability to fully credit him

The Daily Caller ran an interview with Sam Husseini, a journalist who'd asked a hard question to a Saudi prince at the National Press Club and was almost thrown out until outcry got him reinstated:
Writer and activist Sam Husseini asked Saudi Prince Turki al-Faisal a tough question at a National Press Club news conference earlier this month. As a result, and much to the chagrin of his colleagues, his membership in the organization was suspended.

“There’s been a lot of talk about the legitimacy of the Syrian regime,” Husseini asked Prince Turki, the kingdom’s former ambassador to the United States. “I want to know what legitimacy your regime has, sir.”

“You come before us, representative of one of the most autocratic, misogynistic regimes on the face of the earth,” Husseini continued. “Human Rights Watch and others report of torture, detention of activists, you squelched the democratic uprising in Bahrain, you tried to overturn the democratic uprising in Egypt, and indeed you continue to oppress your own people. What legitimacy does your regime have — other than billions of dollars and weapons?”

Husseini’s blunt tone and line of questioning, both unusual for the club, did not escape notice. He was quickly reprimanded, and within hours, his membership in the club had been suspended.

“Raising eyebrows is good,” Husseini told The Daily Caller in an interview, “a lot better than lowering eyelids.”

He offered no apologies for his manner of questioning, saying that “there is an objective reality. Real people are suffering. It should be said. I think my questions come off like fingernails on chalkboard to certain people because they question the established order and certain facts are so inconvenient.”

The uproar following Husseini’s interview was bad publicity for the National Press Club, and by Monday morning they had reversed their decision. “I welcome this decision and aim to ask ever tougher and sharper questions,” Husseini wrote on his blog. “I hope others will as well.”
Some noteworthy parts of the main interview:
2) Where does the situation with the National Press Club stand? Are you still suspended? Do expect to ever become a member in good standing again? And what has the reaction been from your colleagues — are people standing with you, or are people telling you you were out of bounds that day?

I’ve gotten a lot of support from people, some at the Press Club and a lot online, and I’m very grateful for that. After I wrote an open letter to the Press Club Ethics Committee, they lifted the suspension. I sincerely hope I won’t be singled out in any way after this point — or more properly, I hope the Press Club will actually encourage, not just me, but others to be asking the critical “let’s talk about the elephant in the room” type questions.

3) Your question was blunt, and I can see why it would raise eyebrows. Were you surprised at the reaction you got from the Press Club staff? Would you perhaps rephrase it if you could do it again? Why was it important for you to say the Saudi regime is one of the most “autocratic, misogynistic regimes” on earth, and not just ask how Turki justifies the legitimacy of the regime?

Raising eyebrows is good, a lot better than lowering eyelids. I would do it fundamentally the same. There was a bit of crosstalk as I added at the end of my question — what is your legitimacy, “other than billions of dollars and weapons” and I wish I’d gotten that out more clearly. I wish it were tougher, sharper. My actual question was 37 seconds, before the “Prince” attempted to have a folksy back and forth asking me if I’d been to Saudi Arabia, like you had to go to Stalin’s Soviet Union to know that was oppressive. I believe it’s good to have succinct factual information setting up a question, especially given how ill informed the U.S. public has been. Some things are true. It is an “autocratic, misogynistic regime.” There is an objective reality. Real people are suffering. It should be said. I think my questions come off like fingernails on chalkboard to certain people because they question the established order and certain facts are so inconvenient.
Now this is definitely important stuff, and challenging the prince about the vicious regime he lords over along with a number of other demonic fiends was definitely a bold step to take.

Unfortunately, here's where this guy - and the site's staff to boot - jaw-droppingly dampen the impact of his whole discussion:
5) Conservatives often charge that the media has a liberal bias, and liberals are now starting to say there’s actually a conservative bias. Would you say one is more correct than the other, and do you think it’s possible to have a truly objective media? Would you say that you come at the issues from either a left or right perspective, and if so, does that matter?

I think quite often the issues are not left or right — there is a pro-corporate, pro-war bias. So, for example, much of the establishment media clearly have it in for Ron Paul, either ignoring or attempting to belittle his candidacy. Left-right is breaking down in many ways. That was the idea behind another project of mine: VotePact.org — which advocates conscientious conservatives (who are trapped by establishment Republican operatives) pairing up with principled progressives (who have been trapped by establishment Democratic apparatchiks). So you’d siphon off votes in pairs to third or independent candidates, thus solving the “spoiler” problem. One could vote for the Green or Socialist candidates while the other for the Libertarian or Constitution Party candidates — or you could have the emergence of a Ron Paul-Denis Kucinich type ticket. The two of them agree with each other on war, Wall Street bailouts, corporate trade deals and a host of other issues. They have majority support, but they don’t win because the Bush-Clinton axis and much of the corporate establishment is on the other side.
If you think his saying "pro-war/corporate" is bewildering, it is. So too is any support he and the DC are giving to a demagogue moonbat like Paul. Huh?!? Let me now see if I can counter his claim the MSM don't care about Paul, by providing a couple of items from source like the Associated Press, Houston Chronicle, Detroit Metro Times, US News & World Report, MSNBC, and just about whatever else you can find on Google's news. (Also see this earlier topic.) That's not wide coverage, especially from the AP?

Next, I have to present a challenging question of my own: if he's signaling support for Paul, how can he possibly support a politician who advocates turning a deaf ear and blind eye at Iran's nuclear weapon development? Even now, after the explosion that took place circa their uranium development in Isfahan, that doesn't mean the danger is over, nor should we turn our backs to the kind of oppression they happen to lead upon their own public. But that's what Paul is doing, and how Husseini can ignore that - not to mention the fact that many conservatives, Breitbart included, happen to dislike him because of his Chomskyite tactics - is beyond me.

However, this is indicative of a problem I happen to have with the Daily Caller - they seem strangely supportive or at least blandly tolerant of Paul's moonbat mindset and even hostility to Israel, not to mention they ignored how quite a few kooks have supported him. That last topic also mentions how Paul gave a speech of his own against the killing of al-Awlaki at the very National Press Club Husseini goes to, which makes me wonder if something odd isn't going on here.

On their own terms, the questions the reporter asked of the Saudi prince are important ones. Yet it's shocking and very sad that he was willing to whitewash a moonbat like Paul, and pretty much contradicted his own argument considering Iran's a horrific lot themselves.

Muslim Brotherhood rally calls for mass antisemitic murders

This is the dark scenario that could be awaiting even if they aren't elected in Egypt:
A Muslim Brotherhood rally in Cairo on Friday at the Sunni world’s most prestigious center of learning turned into a call for genocide, with protesters pledging to “one day kill all Jews.”

Eldad Beck, Ynet’s Arab affairs correspondent, reported from Cairo that some 5,000 people attended the rally at al-Azhar Mosque, convened to coincide with the anniversary of the approval of the 1947 UN Partition Plan for Palestine.

The event, organizers said, was aimed at rallying Egyptians behind the “battle against Jerusalem’s Judaization.”

Speakers at the demonstration condemned “Zionist occupiers” and “treacherous Jews,” and organizers distributed maps of the Old City highlighting areas where “Zionists are aiming to change Jerusalem’s Muslim character.”

Muhammad Ahmed el- Tayeb, the imam of al-Azhar Mosque, told the crowd: “Al- Aksa Mosque is currently under an offensive by the Jews... We shall not allow the Zionists to Judaize al-Quds [Jerusalem]. We are telling Israel and Europe that we shall not allow even one stone to be moved there.”

Protesters chanted, “Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv: Judgment Day has come,” and passages from the Koran vowing that “one day we shall kill all the Jews.”
All liberal residents of Tel Aviv who don't want to be subject to the kind of violence they're calling for would be well advised to take note of that part, because it does signal that no matter their political position, those Islamofascists will not spare them either.

Egypt could deploy its army in Sinai and return to war with Israel

MK Aryeh Eldad has warned that Israel will have to be ready if Egypt declares war post-election:
MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union) warned Sunday that Israel must prepare for the possibility that Egypt will deploy its military in the Sinai peninsula – and respond to that act as a declaration of war.

Eldad, who is a member of the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, said Israel "must prepare for the annulment" of the treaty, or its abrogation without a formal annulment.

Israel could face a situation in which "the Sinai will no longer be just a place for storing arms and training, and military forces beyond what was agreed upon in the peace treaty will enter it," he said. "World public opinion should be prepared for the fact that this would be a casus belli," he said.
If the Muslim Brotherhood wins the election, it's definitely possible that Israel will have to be ready to deal with them.

Morrocan Islamist party set to win election

In a case already preceding any fate awaiting Egypt, an Islamist party in Morroco looks set to win the election there:
Incomplete results from Friday's vote indicate that PJD will lead a coalition government in partnership with the secularist party of the outgoing prime minister and two other groups.

Tunisia, birthplace of the Arab Spring, sent ripples through the Middle East last month when a moderate Islamist movement won the country's first democratic election.

Morocco has not had a revolution of the kind seen elsewhere in the region, with its ruler, King Mohammed, still firmly in charge. But it has witnessed some protests inspired by Arab uprisings, mostly to demand fewer direct powers for the monarchy and an end to corruption. In response, the king has introduced limited reforms.
Oh yeah, the MSM as surely expected will tout them as "moderates", and are doing the same already with the Morrocan party, but such news cannot be taken at face value. Further down the full article, it says they'll be promoting Islamic banking, which can only mean sharia. And if they're part of the government now, chances are they'll become the whole government in just a few years. Whereever there's an Islamist party winning an election, you can be sure only trouble is going to develop.

Silver judo medal for "settler" girl

Won in Luxembourg:
Think twice and thrice before messing with 15-year-old Shahar Sagi from Samaria (Shomron), who has won a silver medal in an international judo contest.

She is the first Israeli to win a silver medal in the Loralux competition in Luxembourg in the past several years. Sagi competed against hundreds of girls from Europe and Asia and is aiming for the 2016 Olympics.

Shahar began learning judo at the age of four and half in a judo club in her community of Shaked, located in northern Samaria. She has won first place in national competition in Haifa the past five years. In her spare time, she volunteers at the Shaked judo club.
A potentially good way to earn some respect.

European "taboo" on Yesha might be ending

According to this article, the Ukrainian government's been willing to take a trip to Judea/Samaria to see what it's like:
Ukraine's deputy minister of culture toured Samaria (Shomron) with senior bureaucrats from numerous Ukrainian ministers on Friday.

"This is my fifth visit to Israel, but I didn't have any idea that there are such idealists in this country," Kokhan Tymofii said. "I wish you only good for your community. Ukraine will be a firm partner for Israel"

"We love your country and respect your people," Tymofii added. "Our countries have a lot in common. We laugh and cry in the same way in Ukrainian and Hebrew."

"We were all born of Adam and Eve, we must preserve our friendship, appreciate peace, honour our parents and educate our children so that their skies will always be peaceful, and they will be able to grow up respecting their leaders and the religion of their neighbors, friends and brothers," he said.

The visit by a senior government minister from an important European country was hailed as breaking an international taboo by David Ha'Ivri of the Shamron Liaison Office.

“Israel's control of Judea and Samaria and the development of Jewish communities in this region is almost always at the very top of the international discourse and geopolitical debate,” Ha’Ivir said. “Even coming here is taboo.”

“Decisions makers who wish to make a stand on this issue would be doing themselves a big favor by taking the time to actually come out and see the facts on the ground for themselves. Seeing is believing, the facts of the ground speak for themselves.”

Led by the head of the Shomron Council, Gershon Mesika, and of the Minister of Information and Diaspora Affairs, Yuli Edelstein, the delegation was given a comprehensive tour of the settlements, industry and agriculture, as well as the wineries in the Shomron.

"These unique tours, that we are making a top priority to carry out, have an amazing effect on those taking part," Edelstein said. "In most cases people radically change their opinions about the reality in Judea and Samaria and about the people living there, and understand much better the challenges that our country is facing."

"There is nothing like a tour of the Shomron in order to understand that the stigmas and prejudices were wrong," he added.
This might be a good omen that's seriously needed, that European bigwigs start to abandon their older stances in favor of more positive ones towards Israel.

Possibility of a new Jewish city near Jerusalem

A private land owner has a dream to be made reality:
Motti Kugel is working towards making his dream of a new city, moments away from Jerusalem, a reality – despite a jungle of bureaucratic red tape.

Kugel, a land developer who has been involved in reclaiming land in Judea and Samaria for 20 years, told Arutz Sheva, "the only obstacle to starting construction on this land lies in the technical and bureaucratic process necessary to complete the process of formal land-transfer."

"We've had a long, complicated and complex journey due to the fact that the land was acquired from Arabs," Kugel said. "Now all that remains is to complete transfer, which is stuck in the bureaucracy of the security services. It sounds ridiculous, but this is the reality."

"The land was legally acquired by us from a private owner and is now our private property,” Kugel said of the 1,600 dunams (400 acres) he wants to develop – which can accommodate some 10,000 housing units.“With a little will from the requisite ministries we could break ground on construction tomorrow.

"But because of the technical procedures of the security forces, we have been stuck for years and years. No one is driving the bureacracy and the wheels are spinning. This project is stuck while the public housing crisis only worsens,” he said.
We've got to hope that he can get past this stupid red tape to develop something that could be a real breath of fresh air.

Egyptian protestors attack woman in Cairo

Via Breitbart, here's another example of what the "Arab spring" has resulted in: more vicious attacks on women, and in this video, one was attacked by Islamofascists in Tahrir Square. Truly repugnant.

Meanwhile, Israel is preparing for the worst to come in this horrifying collapse taking place in Egypt:
JERUSALEM (AP) - Watching from the sidelines yet feeling much involved, Israel is preparing for the worst in Egypt, concerned about the fate of the 1979 peace treaty that reshaped the strategic balance of the Middle East.

As Egypt copes with street protests in the run-up to parliamentary elections, Israel fears a strengthening of Islamists at the expense of the military could doom the deal that removed Israel's biggest neighbor from its list of enemies, giving the Jewish state far more room to maneuver on other fronts.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu set the tone, telling lawmakers Wednesday that "the chances are that an Islamist wave will wash the Arab states, an anti-Western wave, an anti-liberal wave."

In the first official assessment of the latest unrest in Egypt, Israeli Cabinet Minister Matan Vilnai said the result in the all-important case of Egypt could be a "grave erosion" in the peace treaty, suggesting the deal could collapse altogether .

Israel's main fear is the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is poised to make major gains in elections set to begin next week. The group has been cool to Egypt's peace with Israel and has close ties with the ruling Hamas militant group in the Gaza Strip.
In a way, Netanyahu is correct about an anti-liberal wave sweeping over the countries where Islamofascism is on the rise. And terrorist cells could become even more numerous under the sharia dictatorships that are about to turn up.

Gaddafi's son captured and facing illness

The son of the late Libyan dicatator has been captured by his fellow Islamists and while in captivity, is suffering from gangrene disease. Can't say I feel sorry for him, but at the same time, if his captors are as bad and worse than he is, then there's nothing to celebrate.

Butterball meat factory makes halal turkeys without telling anyone

The Blaze writes about the discovery that Butterball is making halal turkeys without even labeling them, unlike kosher foods which usually do have special marks.

If this is how they're going to produce their output, then I'd say that's committing stealth Islamization and foisting it upon many decent Americans. For that, I'd say Butterball should be boycotted, unless they could at least acknowledge on their product packaging that the turkeys are produced according to halal methods. There's a Facebook page now calling for a boycott, and until they're willing to apologize for doing something so uncalled for, I'd say it's worth avoiding Butterball's products.

It's very sad that once again, PC has struck and is making it difficult for Americans to enjoy a decent holiday. But if there's anything we can be thankful for here, it's that this news is being reported about.

American-Egyptian writer sexually assaulted by Egyptian police

As the situation in Egypt continues to deteriorate, women continue to find it an extremely dangerous place to go. Here's the latest victim:
CAIRO (AP) — A prominent Egyptian-born U.S. columnist says she was sexually assaulted, beaten and blindfolded during a 12-hour detention by police.

Mona Eltahawy posted on Twitter Thursday that she was arrested near Egypt's Interior Ministry around Tahrir Square, where clashes between protesters and police have raged since Saturday. After her release, she posted pictures of both her arms in casts.

She says she was sexually assaulted by regular police, surrounded by half a dozen who "groped, prodded my breasts, grabbed my genital area," while others tried to get their hands in her pants.

She says she was later handed over to military police, who kept her blindfolded for two hours. She was released with an apology and a promise of an investigation.
Which is virtually guaranteed never to take place. Even under Mubarak, it's unlikely any justice would ever have been found in a horrific case like this.

Christians in danger worldwide, while Muslims enter US at ease

Atlas Shrugs (via Jihad Watch) informs us of one of the most disturbing biases/discrimination cases involving immigration, in which the UN poses a serious problem too:
US policy regarding the refugee resettlement program would shock most Americans if they only knew. The UN picks who becomes US refugees. Christians are being refused refugee status and face persecution and many times certain death for their religious beliefs under the sharia, while whole Muslim communities are entering the US by the tens of thousands per month despite the fact that they face no religious persecution.

It is horrifying that Afghan Christians are being refused refugee status by the UN and many Western nations, including Britain. The UN claims that Afghan Christians do not meet the criteria for refugees under Statute 6B of the UN High Commission of Refugees (UNHCR), which requires refugees to have "a well founded fear of persecution by reason of his race, religion, nationality or political opinion."

Since 1976, millions of new citizens have entered America as legal humanitarian refugees, according to reports of the US State Department. The Somalis are certified as "humanitarian refugees" under our State Department rules. Whole Muslim communities are imported into the United States, and they are supported by social services provided by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The cities who receive these huge numbers are determined by Refugee Councils. And yet back in October 2008, Muslim UN employees were "discouraging" applications for resettlement from the desperate Christian Iraqis. The Christian Iraqi population has since been decimated. By buying into the argument that Islam is a religion of peace and ignoring the penalties for apostasy, we are sentencing thousands of Christians to martyrdom and forcing others to live in the shadows in dire poverty. We need to demand that our government provide protection and asylum for Christian apostates.
And the UN needs to be removed as a decision maker regarding who gets a green card.

Hamas makes gains in Egypt

Jonathan Tobin tells that if there's any group of jihadists who stand to benefit from the deterioration in Egypt, it's Hamas. Clearly, the Muslim Brotherhood isn't the only one we need to worry about.

Ron Paul wouldn't aid Israel in raid on Iran

Why thank you, Herr Doktor, we'd be much better off without your so-called help. Here's what the demagogue had to say in the latest GOP debate, and it's this particular line that's telling:
Paul stated that if Israel wanted to attack Iran “that’s their business, but they should suffer the consequences.” He added that Israel has hundreds of nuclear missiles and thus, “can take care of themselves.”
So does that mean that he'd impose sanctions and other horrid stuff like that upon Israel that he wouldn't use on Iran? And what nuclear missiles does Israel actually have? Not sure I follow him there.

Of course Israel shouldn't be asking for American financial aid, if anything, since we shouldn't be reliant just on foreign aid. But that aside, Paul has once again left a bad aftertaste in his wake and set a most terrible example for his cult-like followers.

Breitbart has a roundup of videos highlighting some of the horrific moonbat's most disturbing declarations at the debate, which include attacking the Patriot Act, claiming that "US meddling" led to al Qaeda's attacks, and even calling for stopping the war on drugs! The latter is all you need to know that his domestic policy outlook is just as unreliable as for foreign.

Jihadists indicted for murder of Palmer father and son

Some jihadists were arrested for their leading to the death of a father and son, and are now being indicted:
An indictment for murder was filed Sunday against members of a terrorist gang who threw a large stone into the windshield of 25 year old Asher Palmer's car as they drove past him on the road in the opposite direction.

The stone smashed through the windshield and struck Palmer in the face, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and roll off the road. Both Palmer and his infant son, Yonatan, were killed.

According to the indictment, those facing charges are members of a band of terrorists who have carried out a long list of such attacks in the region. The remand for the accused was extended until the end of their trial.

More charges are pending for the terrorist cell for similar attacks on other Israeli vehicles, whose results were - blessedly - less severe. At least 18 Israeli drivers reported similar attacks in the month following Palmer's death alone.

Also indicted was a member of the terror gang who looted Palmer's body and stole his weapon following the attack.

The indictment is seen as something of a victory by residents in Judea and Samaria, as immediately after the attack that killed Palmer and his son, police told local residents and reporters that the deaths were the result of 'driver error'. They said they were treating the incident as a 'traffic accident.'
The police owe an apology for attempting to cover up a heinous crime. As for the terrorists themselves, they should be locked away in solitary and not allowed to see the outside world ever again for their savagery.

Muslim convert arrested for pipebomb plotting in NYC

It appears we have another case not unlike that of Jose Padilla. He was also under surveillance for 2 years (Hat tip: Jihad Watch):
(CNN) -- New York Police Department counterterrorism officials say they were first alerted to the activities of Jose Pimentel, accused of plotting to detonate pipe bombs in the city, about two-and-a-half years ago.

One official told CNN they were notified about Pimentel's activities by law enforcement sources in upstate New York in May 2009. By then, the official says, he was already "radicalized."

The NYPD used an informant to make contact with Pimentel, to befriend him and monitor his activities.

They wanted to get a sense of his intentions, to "wash him out," as the official put it.

Pimentel - a native of the Dominican Republic and a convert to Islam - was arraigned in New York Sunday. He faces five charges, including criminal possession of a weapon in the first degree as a crime of terrorism, and soliciting or providing support for an act of terrorism.

According to a senior counterterrorism source, Pimentel had expressed a desire to go to Yemen at some point in 2010, and sent an email to the al Qaeda cleric and propagandist Anwar al-Awlaki, who was killed in a drone strike in September of this year. He did not receive a reply, the source said.

The official told CNN that Pimentel was prolific online - maintaining a website called True Islam.

A website called trueislam1.com which is mentioned in the criminal complaint against Pimintel includes tributes to well-known al Qaeda figures and other jihadist leaders.

Its introduction ends: "May Allah bless all the Muslims, may he give us victory over the disbelieving people, and may he guide all those non Muslims, who visit this site to Islam."

A YouTube channel (mujahidfisabillilah1's channel) that links to the website describes its owner as "a Sunni Muslim BROTHER [sic] from the Dominican Republic currently living in Harlem, New York. Allah has guided me out of darkness and into the light."

Pimentel was in touch and interacting with other Islamist radicals online and was aware of Revolution Muslim, a New York-based group sympathetic to the aims of al Qaeda, but was "not directly connected" to them, the official said.

Many apparantly like-minded individuals posted messages on his YouTube site in the last several months. A message posted on the site one day ago stated: "May Allah Reward you for all your efforts and hard work. Ameen."

Counterterrorism officials became alarmed about Pimentel's activities in September, when they "received indications that the suspect was going operational."

That was before al-Awlaki was killed.

In October, officials say, Pimentel's activities began to accelerate, when he began to acquire simple bomb-making materials. They say he began building his bomb in the apartment of the informant, rather than at his home, where he lived with his mother and grandmother.
More info about that horrific man here and here. But most disturbing is the news that the FBI refused to help investigate Pimentel (also via Jihad Watch):
The FBI did not pursue a case against an alleged al-Qaida sympathiser accused of plotting to blow up police and military personnel because it believed he was mentally unstable and incapable of pulling it off, officials said on Monday.

Investigators from the New York Police Department, which announced the arrest of Dominican-born US citizen Jose Pimentel, 27, at a press conference late on Sunday night, sought to involve the FBI at least twice.

But both times the FBI concluded he wasn't a serious threat, according to officials who spoke to the Associated Press.

Pimentel "didn't have the predisposition or the ability to do anything on his own," said one of the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity....

On a YouTube channel linked to him, Pimentel – who also goes by the name Muhammad Yusaf – he describes himself as a "Sunni Muslim brother" from the Dominican Republic living in Harlem, whose interests include "watching videos of YouTube, working out, reading and learning all aspects of the only true religion of all the prophets: Islam."
This is most extremely troubling, because what if Pimentel had succeeded in his plot? The FBI has a lot of explaining to do about why they neglected their duty to keep an eye on such a vicious character.

Ron Paul still holding to blame-America position

In this MRC video on Breitbart, demagogue Ron Paul continues to go the blame-America route. He tries to be clever by saying it was "flawed US policies" that led to 9-11, but only succeeds in keeping upon the same blame-the-victim path. While on the page featuring this video, I also came across this older post from Ace of Spades HQ, which discussed how Paul came up with trivial questions about why didn't we ask Pakistan to arrest bin Laden. And, Ace has an opinion that I share too:
Ron Paul draws particular venom from people like me because what he says is exactly what the leftists say. They do the same thing. The exact same thing. When there's a controversial use of force -- and the use of force is almost always controversial, as it should be -- they begin the discussion from the point of view that any and all uses of American might are illegitimate, and that there are -- always, no exceptions -- peaceful options that could have achieved the same results.
Well said. Ron Paul is no different from many leftists on foreign policy, and as noted earlier, any support or bland tolerance of the destruction OWS has caused is another reason to be concerned about him. And if he decides to run as a third-partier, he'll really be doing all he can to damage the right he was never truly a part of.

Abominable development in Hevron

According to this report, relatives of an Islamic convict released as part of the Shalit deal attacked a Jewish girl in Hevron:
Arabs who work in the Hevron store owned by the family of Hani Jaber, a terrorist murderer released in the Shalit deal, attacked a young Jewish woman Saturday. In response, Jews threw rocks at the store and at Arabs.

Jaber was one of three Arabs who ambushed a Jewish yeshiva student aged 22, Erez Shmuel, in 1993. They attacked him with knives in a Hevron alleyway that is now known as Simtat Erez in his memory.

Nationalists in Hevron told Arutz Sheva that Jews gathered near the store during the Sabbath after the girl was attacked. At a certain point, they said, the storekeepers decided to close shop of their own volition.
Well there you go, fallout from the whole deal, and we should've known there'd be something monstrous involved in this whole deal. Just one example of what can make Jewish people living in Hebron so angry.

Some more notes on Ron Paul's treachery and contempt for fellow GOP members

Let's begin by noting the Paul cultists hanging out at the Occupy protests. In National Review, they tell:
I hear many names bandied about in Zuccotti Park, and not just at the fringes. Among the most popular are Karl Marx, Hugo Chávez, Michael Moore, Paul Ehrlich, and Dennis Kucinich. But today I heard a less predictable one spoken more widely: Ron Paul.

There are three key reasons for this, I think. The first is a good old marriage of convenience, the same sort of unholy alliance as arose in the early 20th century when Baptists and bootleggers came together to argue for the prohibition of alcohol in America. You see, Ron Paul is angry, too, and he wants to “restore” America to its old ways. The majority of Paul’s policy positions may be radically different, but much of his rhetoric is in line with Occupy Wall Street’s, particularly his anti-Hamiltonian conviction that the banks have callously denatured the United States. For many, this alone is enough to make him an ally.
He certainly hasn't slammed the violent, abusive behavior they descended into as the weeks passed and OWS turned out to be quite the horrific charade it's become. If he has publicly condemned them, as Newt Gingrich has, I have yet to hear of it.

Now for another troubling development: recently, he indicated that if he's not elected the candidate for president, he won't support the GOP candidate who is, unless, in his words, they believe in everything he does (H/T: Hot Air). Firstly, that is simply disgraceful that he would go into this next race only for himself and act so nigh-selfish. It's a very poor example for a politician, and I agree with the FOX contributors who suggested Paul be taken out of the GOP debates if that's how he's going to behave.

Now, as the following news on Town Hall reports, he's hinted that he won't rule out a third-party run. Well of all the cheap nerve! On the one hand, you'd think this would be a blessing for the GOP not to have such a frightful wacko tarnishing their HQ any longer. On the other hand, if he does decide to go that route, it certainly could spell trouble for the GOP, as he could take away votes. If this happens, he'll really have pulled an act of betrayal, and quite likely he won't apologize for it either.

The funny thing is how he's claiming the MSM doesn't give him much attention. Pardon me? The New York Times (via Hot Air Headlines) was one of a couple of MSM outlets that's been lavishing attention upon him lately because they know he's a most divisive candidate who could cause serious problems in the GOP base even if he is elected candidate, and this posting on Red State is certainly worth pondering as to what damage he could do. And he thinks he doesn't get attention? Good grief.

The GOP should have distanced themselves from him long ago, given how poorly he ultimate acts around them and makes himself a major embarrassment within their ranks.

Time is running out on stopping Iran's nuclear warheads

In this Reuters report:
(Reuters) - Iran is less than a year away from being unstoppable in its goal of producing a nuclear weapon, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in an interview with CNN released on Saturday.

In an advance transcript of an interview to air on CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS" program on Sunday, Barak said Israel was focused on the prospect of a nuclear Iran and what "should and could be done about it on time."

"It's true that it won't take three years, probably three quarters before no one can do anything practically about it because the Iranians are gradually, deliberately entering into what I call a zone of immunity, by widening the redundancy of their plan, making it spread over many more sites with many more hidden elements," he said.
If anything, they're on the path to barbarism, and sooner or later, action must be taken to end their nuclear technology.

Rick Perry risks channeling Ron Paul

It's already old news how Texas governor Rick Perry has fumbled only so many debates/conferences. But this time he may really have gaffed the gaffe:
Republican candidates for president on the debate stage in South Carolina Saturday agreed that addressing the out-of-control national debt is essential for national security. At one point Texas Governor Rick Perry spoke of how his administration would grant foreign aid, with every country starting at “zero dollars:”

When asked by a Twitter user how this policy would apply to Israel, Perry responded that like every country, Israel would start at zero.

“Obviously Israel is a special ally and my bet is we would be funding them at some substantial level,” said Perry. “But it makes sense for everyone to come in at zero and make your case.”
I'm afraid this is failing to make a proper difference between countries with civilized cultures and those that lack it, like Pakistan, which they also bring up as one that doesn't need our valuble tax dollars. This runs a serious risk of parroting the same lines spoken by the even more dismal Ron Paul. Already, Perry's statements have caused concern in the Jewish community.

I remember when a few months ago, only so many were cheering Perry on as a messianic coming, and when Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer pointed to the questionable school curriclum involving Islam and Aga Khan used under his state administration, some even went out of their way to apologize for him (and criticizing Geller just because she pointed to a Salon article is silly; she's used various reports from the NYT, which can be just as hostile to her, and nobody had a problem with that). But now, and probably ever since the material Geller found on the internet about Aga Khan was erased from the internet, such fanfare seems to have died down, as the apologists must now realize that Perry's not what he could've been.

Maybe this could serve as a lesson to the Perry apologists about why it doesn't pay to just cheer on a guy whose policies are questionable if he cannot handle debates and act like he's the next amazing coming. Already, Newt Gingrich is starting to gain a lot of the traction Perry once had, and we'll have to see if he's got a better understanding of all these issues than Perry does.

Also, if Perry's stance on immigration in the USA is poor, then why should we have to buy that he's really respectable of Israel? And even if he is, that doesn't mean we should overlook his poor handling of locally based issues. Indeed, we should be disappointed.

Giuliani would have stopped the OWS menace long ago

Newsmax tells that former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani says he would have taken a much better stance against the Occupy movement than the awful Bloomberg has (Hat tip: Atlas Shrugs):
The First Amendment does not give Occupy Wall Street protesters the right to take over private property and engage in illegal activities, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani says.

“You have no right to pitch a tent in the middle of New York City, I’m sorry,” Giuliani said on Sean Hannity’s radio show this afternoon. “That is not the First Amendment.”

President Barack Obama’s empathy for the 2-month-old movement and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s lack of action to stop it are an embarrassment to the nation and the city, Giuliani said.

Giuliani’s comments came on a day when police and the protesters had squared off as they marched through the city in an effort to fulfill their promise to shut down the New York Stock Exchange.

“The minute you have any place where you have to put up a place [to] protect a woman against rape, then you’ve got to come in and get rid of those people,” Giuliani told Hannity. “You can’t tolerate that in a civilized city.”

Giuliani said he delivered a speech at a high-level economic conference last week in China, where the first question posed to him involved the protests.

“This thing has gone around the globe, and it’s beginning to characterize us,” he said. “This is what they think we’re about.”

He described the protesters as “disgruntled bums” and “leftover hippies from the ’60s and ’70s.”

“When I see them on television sometimes, particularly the older ones, it looks like I’m seeing the leftover effects of having taken too many drugs when they were 20 years old,” he said. “They make no sense. They babble.”

Giuliani said that, if he still were mayor, he would have stopped the protests in their tracks.

“I would have stopped it on Day One,” he said. “I would have handled this differently. I took over a city that had had two riots in the two years before I was mayor. I didn’t have a riot, because I didn’t let it start.”
We gotta hope that when wintertime comes around, they won't bother to stay around in the freezing cold, and finally leave the cities in peace.

Update: see also this disturbing report about how the protestors even terrorized young children on their way to school.

Grover Norquist may be heading more left now

According to Commentary, Islam crony Grover Norquist attended a conference for Democrats - invite only type - and it included an advisor to George Soros. Norquist's spokesperson denied he gave them any advice, but the man has already been so dishonest on many other issues, we'd do well not to take that reply at face value.

If Norquist is giving any assistance to the Democrats now, it may be because some conservatives, with Rep. Frank Wolf a most notable recent example, are gathering the courage to stand up to and expose his traitorous activities. The GOP is quite right to start questioning Norquist's shady activities, and needs to distance themselves from him to really make their party stronger again.

Debunking the Walt-Mearshimer anti-Israel libel

Mark Langfan, a security map topographer, has provided a good debunking of the lies perpetrated by propaganda professors Stephen Walt and John Mearshimer:
Mark Langfan, the American-Israel Security 3D-Map topographer, and this year's co-recipient of the Justice Louis D. Brandeis Award at the upcoming Zionist Organization of America dinner along with his father William, has offered concrete evidence which conclusively debunks the litany of falsehoods and distortions found in the book "Israel Lobby" written by Professors Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer.

The book, originally published in 2006, asserts that "Israel is no longer a vital military strategic ally of the United States."

Using basic and clear multi-colored graphic maps of the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean, Langfan has presented his findings to members of the US Congress and Senate.

If Israel were to be destroyed, he says, the Middle East would be rapidly engulfed by an Islamist Caliphatic "tsunami" which could conceivably immobilize Saudi Arabia, Cyprus and Greece; resulting in an exponential spike in oil prices to $300 a barrel.
Read the rest, plus this item and this one from Langfan's own site which present his case, and also the following letter he sent to Walt calling on him to publicly retract his falsehoods. But don't expect Walt and Mearshimer to ever apologize for their evil deeds. For now, it helps to rebut the lies they've told and make clear just how bad an example they've set with their anti-Israel propaganda.

A bill to prevent abusive leftist suits

The Likud in the Knesset is making a worthy proposal:
A new proposal by Likud MKs Danny Danon and Yariv Levin promises to put an end to the uniquely Israeli phenomenon of “do-gooding” groups taking it upon themselves to represent in petitions before the High Court individuals or groups that in their judgment have been damaged. The phenomenon is often associated with leftist groups representing Arabs seeking to dislodge Jews from property and homes; the Arabs are generally not a party to the petition, but the court, when asked to, often takes these cases on and, more often than not, rules in favor of the Arabs – without their having even signed an agreement to allow the groups to represent them.

According to the new law, groups would be allowed to file petitions on the part of complainants only if they attach their names to the petition. In addition, the law will require that only Israeli groups be allowed to file petitions – as opposed to the current situation, where groups from the PA and abroad file petition on all manner of issues on behalf of individuals whom the groups claim have had their rights violated – often without permission or even the knowledge of the people whose rights they claim to be fighting for. In addition, the group filing the petition will be required to release the sources of its income and who its main donors over the last three years were.

“The left uses the High Court to advance its political agenda, and this bring dishonor on the court,” Danon said. Groups like Peace Now, he said, file High Court petitions at the drop of a hat and damage the image and effectiveness of the Court.
Unless those who the leftists supposedly represent are part of this, they cannot be allowed to just go ahead and file a suit.

70 percent of Arab youth want to find better life elsewhere,,,or do they?

According to this article:
As the Arab Spring heads into an increasingly Islamic Winter some three quarters of Arab youth want to migrate to countries outside the Middle East region, an Arab League official warned on Wednesday.

"Due to their poor enfranchisement in society and politics, and due to rising joblessness, 70 per cent of the Arab youth want to migrate out of the region," Khalid Al Wahishi, director of Population Policy and Immigration for Arab League, was quoted as saying by the Qatari daily The Peninsula.

"We at Arab League have been warning member states at all our meetings to empower the youth," Al Wahishi told delegates and population experts at a meeting in Qatar.

"Unemployment, alarmingly high at 26 per cent, poor participation of youth and illiteracy are major hindrances to population policy development and implementation.
So is the Religion of Peace, but don't think they'll recognize that. And if they end up trying to force such a thing upon any western country to which they could migrate, that's why they cannot be accepted, and immigration from those Islamic countries must be restricted.

American public fighting back against Occupy hoodlums

There's already clearer signs that the people in many of the places hit by the Occupy protests are fed up, and in Oakland and Portland, for example, the police are clearing out the garbage. I should hope they'll also get rid of the mess in Philadelphia too; a woman was raped at the gathering there (Hat tip: Hot Air Headlines). More on that report at The Blaze.

In New York, there's businesses who are going to lead a special protest of their own against Bloomberg's appeasement of OWS (Hat tip: Commentary), because of the damage done to their businesses by many of the hoodlums who've been around there and scared away the more decent customers. Bloomberg is certainly responsible in his own way for encouraging this reprehensible behavior, and he is something of a socialist, and it's high time already he was voted out of office.

Update: according to The Oregonian and The Blaze, 3 men were arrested at Occupy Portland with explosive materials.

Looks like Sarkozy will apologize to Netanyahu

A week after that incredibly dumb crack he made while talking with Obama while semi-oblivious to the working microphone, French president Sarkozy will be visiting Israel to mend ties (via Blogmocracy):
French President Nicolas Sarkozy will visit Jerusalem to assuage the diplomatic damage caused by a gaffe he recently made at the G-20 gathering, a Jewish French diplomat said on Thursday.

France’s former special envoy to the Middle East Valerie Valerie Hoffenberg said her ex-boss would visit “soon” to try to clear up the “misunderstanding of the Israeli [government] concerning France’s position.”
By the way, look at this curious part at the end:
Sarkozy told the Jewish leadership he felt that Israel had lost the media war and had failed to make its case to the international community that it wanted peace, according to the sources.
This is ambiguous, of course, since we don't know just he's driving at; whether he thinks Israel should mend its borders and defeat Islamofascists - including the PLO - or whether he thinks Israel must make concessions.

But this gaffe of his might help provide an edge over him, and make it clear that the whole country doesn't like foreign sources speaking in such degrading terms about the leaders it elects, regardless of their political standings.

Most Americans back an Israeli strike on Iran

The talk of the possibility of an Israeli raid on Iran's nuclear setup is growing, and in its wake, there's been a poll showing that Israel has the American public's backing:
Most Americans support an Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear sites, while a smaller majority endorses such US strike, according to a poll commissioned by the Anti-Defamation League.

Some 63% of poll respondents characterized Israel as a "crucial ally" and said that the Jewish state's relationship with the US does not undermine America's image in the world.

As to Iran's development of nuclear weapons, the poll showed that 57% of Americans support Israeli military action to prevent such scenario while only 31% opposed such move. Some 50% of respondents supported US military action against Iran, while 44% expressed their objection to such strike.

Meanwhile, nearly half of all Americans said they sympathize with the State of Israel, while only 18% said they sympathize with the Palestinians. Some 63% of respondents said they believe Israel is serious about peace, while only 37% thought otherwise.
Iran's nuclear development is still a serious threat, and the sooner it can be stopped, the better.

Senate may succumb to dhimmitude by closing watchdog that monitors religious freedom violations in Muslim countries

If the US Senate does the following act suggested in this news article (via Jihad Watch and Atlas Shrugs), they will have made a farce of US politics:
For more than a decade, an independent, statutory monitor has been advising the U.S. executive and legislative branches on international religious freedom, drawing attention to the persecution of people of faith under Muslim, communist and autocratic regimes from Riyadh to Rangoon. But by this time next week, it may have to close its doors.

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) will shut down unless the U.S. Senate approves a reauthorization bill before then, or unless funding is included in a new continuing resolution (CR) to fund the federal government through the end of the year.

Last September the House of Representatives passed by an overwhelming vote a bill extending the USCIRF’s life for another two years. The bill was referred to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where it has been held up – by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), according to published reports.

Durbin’s office has not responded to inquiries and requests for comment....

It has drawn attention to the plight of Christians in predominantly Islamic countries such as Pakistan, Iraq and Nigeria; to ongoing religious restrictions and harassment of believers by Vietnam’s communist authorities; to incitement in Saudi school textbooks and materials used in mosques in the U.S.; to attempts by the Islamic bloc at the U.N. to outlaw religious “defamation” and promote blasphemy laws; and to the persecution of Baha’is in Iran, Buddhists and Protestants in Burma and Uighur Muslims in China.

A key function of the USCIRF has been its recommendations for the State Department to designate “countries of particular concern” (CPCs) under the International Religious Freedom Act, the same 1998 legislation that created the commission.

The Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations all followed some recommendations, but not others. The Obama State Department recently overruled USCIRF recommendations to designate Pakistan, Vietnam, Egypt, Iraq, Nigeria and Turkmenistan as “countries of particular concern” (CPCs), in addition to those currently on the list (Burma, China, Eritrea, Iran, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Uzbekistan.)

CPCs are countries whose governments either perpetrate or condone “systematic, ongoing, and egregious” abuses of religious freedom. The U.S. may impose sanctions or take other diplomatic steps as incentives to improve....

When the House debated the reauthorization bill on Sept. 14, its author, Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.) voiced frustration with the situation in the Senate, saying some members there “are trying to kill this commission, for some reason.”

“Quite frankly, I believe that some over there [in the Senate] and this very administration would not mind seeing this commission shut its doors,” he said.

During the same debate Rep. Christopher Smith (R-N.J.) described the USCIRF as “the quintessential watchdog agency in this town.”

“It doesn't get the big press, as Mr. Wolf said,” Smith said. “It doesn't have the big bucks – no K Street lobbyists – but it is a wonderful and a very important and effective commission that keeps track of religious persecution globally, that keeps us in line in the House and the Senate and also the State Department.”...

CitizenLink, an affiliate of Focus on the Family, is urging Americans to contact their senators to urge reauthorization of the USCIRF.
I too urge everyone to turn to their senators and ask them to ensure this watchdog remains open. Monitoring bodies like these are very important to safeguard human rights across the world.

Occupy Oakland should be shut down after fatal shooting

A fatal gundown has taken place near the Occupy Oakland encampment, which the mayor unfortunately did not have dismantled so far (via Hot Air). Now, again, she's saying they plan to take it down. But that's not enough. They must shut down that pointless socialist encampment immediately, and stop all the ruin that's occurring there.

Legislation to reform the UN

Rep. Marco Rubio is drafting a bill to reform the horrific UN, which would include the following accomplishments:
Allow the U.S. to fund only UN agencies and programs that advance U.S. interests and values, resulting in greater competition among UN entities for funding that would increase transparency and effectiveness.

Authorize the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate and audit the use of U.S. contributions to the UN.

Prohibit U.S. contributions to the UN from being used for any purpose other than the specific purposes for which it was made available by Congress.

Firmly establish U.S. policy on various issues relating to the UN, including transparency, reform, Security Council expansion, terrorism, anti-Semitism and the unfair treatment of Israel.

Withholds U.S. contributions from any UN agency or program that upgrades the status of the Palestinian observer mission outside a negotiated settlement with Israel.

Conditions U.S. membership on and funding of the UN Human Rights Council on the Council’s adoption of reforms barring membership of countries subject to Security Council sanctions, under Security Council-mandated human rights investigations, states sponsors of terrorism, “countries of particular concern” for religious freedom violations, or that have been designated as Tier 3 for human trafficking violations.

Makes it U.S. policy to lead a high-level diplomatic campaign to revoke and repudiate the Goldstone Report and its follow-on measures by the UN General Assembly.

Withholds U.S. funding from any part of the UN’s flawed Durban process, which has been hijacked by rogue regimes and used to advance an anti-Israel, anti-Semitic, anti-Western, anti-freedom agenda.

Conditions U.S. funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) providing assistance to Palestinians refugees until UNRWA meets certain safeguards against terrorist links.
Honestly though, they should revoke funding altogether for the UN, since it's been long past any true purpose.

Obama should apologize for trash-talking about Netanyahu, but so should Sarkozy

The news has spread on the web about how Obama and Sarkozy were making disgrace remarks about Netanyahu (H/T: Big Peace), unaware that the microphone at the G20 press conference where they were going to speak was turned on. More about this on the UK Mail (also via Big Peace).

The GOP's Michael Grimm has called on Obama to apologize for his remarks, and he's right, the president of the USA should apologize. But what about France's own president? Shouldn't he be called upon to repent too?

I think he should, if he hasn't been yet. Certainly, this whole incident that's thankfully just coming out into the open will likely have caused even Sarkozy some embarrassment. But that's just why he should apologize for acting so incredibly disrespectful, to say nothing of setting such a bad example for France's politicians, and even others in Europe.

Update: the White House is trying to "limit" the damage done by this lugubrious act of Obama's and Sarkozy's, but really, what's the use?

Update: here's an op-ed by Joseph Klein.

Ron Paul thinks "friendship" will solve Iran crisis

Pseudo-conservative demagogue Ron Paul is floating around in fantasyland again, going soft on Iran:
GOP presidential hopeful Ron Paul says "offering friendship" to Iran, not sanctions, would be a more fruitful to achieving peace with Tehran.

The Texas congressman says fears about Iran's nuclear program have been "blown out of proportion." He says tough penalties are a mistake because, as he says was the case in Iraq, they only hurt the local population and still paved a path to war.

When asked on "Fox News Sunday" what he would do to deter Iran's alleged nuclear ambitions, Paul said "maybe offering friendship to them."

Paul's remarks put him at odds with both the Bush and Obama administrations; U.S. policy has relied heavily on sanctions and diplomacy to try to convince Tehran to abandon its atomic program. Iran says its nuclear program is peaceful.
Some of those locals he mentions, unfortunately, are as anti-Israel as Ahmedinejad himself and even supported the Occupy Wall Street insanity. But let us be clear: these sanctions usually involve barring weapons and such from being shipped there, not food and drink, which Paul hasn't considered. His use of "maybe" shows he hasn't a clue how else to deal with Iran, and he's obviously making these statements because he's worried about the news that Israel may attack Iran's nuclear installations.

Since I've mentioned the Occupy subject, I think it would be best to bring up a related subject involving Ron Paul. First, let's take a look at what he says here when he stupidly slammed the mission to obliterate al-Awlaki. He said:
Speaking to an audience at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., the Republican presidential candidate roundly blasted Obama for approving last week's predator drone strike that killed al-Awlaki, the al Qaeda figure linked to two unsuccessful attacks on U.S.-bound airplanes.

Paul noted that another American, editor of online al Qaeda magazine "Inspire," Samir Kahn, was killed in the attack. Paul questioned whether the government has the right to kill journalists, as well as terrorists.

"Can you imagine being put on a [hit] list because you're a threat?" Paul told a crowd of sixty journalists and their guests. "What's going to happen if they come to the media? What if the media becomes a threat."
Paul, of course, refused to recognize that Khan, by joining the al Qaeda and editing their obscene propaganda, was just as abominable a creature as al-Awlaki and it was on those grounds that Khan was terminated. It's got nothing to do with his being a journalist.

Now, here's the part that needs sharp attention:
Paul took the opportunity in the same press dinner, however, to also express sympathy for the ragtags of the left, the budding Occupy Wall Street protest movement.

Paul said that he shared the frustration of the protesters currently occupying the Wall Street section of New York City, and said he felt the demonstrations are rooted in a host of economic woes brought on by fiscal irresponsibility and globalization.

"I think civil disobedience, if everyone knows what they're doing, is a legitimate effort," Paul said, according to CBS News. "It's been done in this country for many grievances... The solution is to get a healthy economy back."
Just how exactly are they supposed to do that when the whole real purpose of the Occupy movement has since proven itself to be more about socialism, racism, rape and anarchy? Why, their repulsive methods have just damaged business for a resturant (H/T: Betsy's Page). As this article tells, quite a few of the Paulbots have attended these OWS gatherings, and here's news of another supporter who was arrested for arson. Those concerned about the damage the OWS movement is causing would be strongly advised to pay careful attention.

Ron Paul's foreign policy outlook on regimes like Iran is bad, but then if he's going to support a movement as horrific as OWS, so is his domestic policy outlook.

Update: some more on the subject at Hot Air.

Private memorials held for Fort Hood murder victims

The families of the soldiers murdered by Nidal Hasan in Fort Hood are holding private memorials for the victims. Among the things we learn here are:
No public memorials were planned at Fort Hood to mark the second anniversary of the worst mass shooting on a U.S. military installation.
Is that because the PC crowd doesn't want this to be remembered or known about? Don't be surprised if it is.
"The thing I've heard a lot of families who've lost people in Iraq and in Afghanistan (say) is that they just don't want people to forget," Kerry Cahill said. "People don't bring it up because they don't want to remind you—well, I remind myself every day. I don't want people to forget that it happened, and I don't want people to forget my father."

On that sunny autumn day two years ago, a gunman wearing an Army combat uniform stood near the front door of a Fort Hood medical building where deploying and returning soldiers received vaccines and other tests. He shouted "Allahu Akbar!"—which means "God is great!" in Arabic—and opened fire, witnesses said. Some soldiers thought it was a training exercise.

He rapidly fired, pausing only to reload, shooting at soldiers hiding under desks and those fleeing the building, according to witnesses. Capt. John Gaffaney was fatally shot after throwing a chair at the gunman. Spt. Jason Dean "J.D." Hunt, Staff Sgt. Justin DeCrow and Pfc. Michael Pearson died while trying to protect several nurses at the back of the building. The others who died, most in the front area, were Capt. Russell Seager, Sgt. Amy Krueger, Spc. Frederick Greene, Pfc. Aaron Nemelka, Pfc. Kham Xiong and Pvt. Francheska Velez, who was pregnant.

Some witnesses identified the gunman as Maj. Nidal Hasan, an American-born Muslim who was scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan the following month. His trial is set for March. If convicted of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder, he faces the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
And we must hope he receives the former punishment, since he really deserves it.

Islamization looms in Syria

Khaled abu Toameh writes on Hudson NY about the rather unsurprising rise of Islamic fundamentalism in Syria's anti-Assad revolution, which is also being stoked by the Muslim Brotherhood (Hat tip: Jihad Watch):
As Syrian dictator Bashar Assad continues to slaughter his people, there are growing indications that the Islamists are increasing their efforts to replace his regime.

What started as a secular Facebook revolution against the Assad regime is now beginning to look more like a jihad [holy war] led by Muslim fundamentalists.

The Muslim Brotherhood is clearly seeking to hijack the anti-Assad protests, in both the political and military fields.

In the past few months, there have been many signs of a "return to Islam" in Syrian society. Large banners urging women to wear the hijab have appeared in Damascus and other main cities and many restaurants and hotels have stopped serving alcohol in keeping with Islamic law. This is in addition to the fact that many of the daily anti-Assad demonstrations are being launched from mosques, especially after Friday prayers.

The Muslim Brotherhood is by no means a "moderate" organization. Its motto leaves no room for questions about its true intentions: "Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Koran is our law. Jihad [holy war] is our way. Dying for the sake of Allah is our highest hope." Muslim Brotherhood's spiritual leader, Sheikh Yusef al-Qaradawi, has come out in favor of suicide bombings, which he called "evidence of God's justice;" the death penalty for homosexuals; the beating of women; a genocidal a hatred of Jews: "O Allah, do not spare a single one of them….kill them down to the very last one," as he put on al-Jazeera on January 9, 2009 [www.MEMRI.org]; and, as he said on April 14, 2004, boycotts of America and Israel: "Our duty is to make them as weak as we can."
If the Islamists like the Muslim Brotherhood rise to power in Syria, then nothing's really been replaced at all, any more than in Egypt - it'll just be sadism as bad and even worse than Assad's own tyranny.

Salafists in Egypt cover mermaid statues in Alexandria

Well look at the latest results of the "Arab spring" (Hat tip: Jihad Watch):
The shapes of the mermaids that embellish the fountain of Zeus in the centre of Alexandria have been deemed "inappropriate" by the Salafist Al Nour (Light) party, which decided to "veil" them completely with a sheet during a meeting yesterday evening.

The incident, which was reported by the website of the Al Masri Al Youm newspaper, has unleashed a wave of comment and disbelief on Twitter, where the paper posted pictures "before and after the niqab" of the fountain of the sirens, upon which an enormous placard carries the words: "Egyptian women devote themselves to their husbands and their nation".

Political leaders of the party, which is at the head of a coalition of Islamist parties that will stand in the forthcoming Egyptian elections from November 28, had recently announced that they were against the statues, deeming them contrary to Islamic tradition, the newspaper reports. "Covering a statue of sirens will certainly lead us to Paradise. I can't wait," was the ironic reaction of one Twitter user.
They're also against the history of the country's original non-Islamic population, and don't be surprised if they'd want to obliterate those interesting statues altogether in their desire to make Egypt a sharia regime.

Offices of Charlie Hebdo firebombed for publishing Mohammed satire

The French satire paper that published about the Danish Mohammed cartoons 5 years ago and was lucky to be acquitted has now had their offices vandalized for publishing another satire on the same subject (via Diana West):
Molotov cocktails were today used to burn down the headquarters of a leading French magazine because it mocked the Prophet Mohammed.

Arsonists struck shortly after 1am at the Paris offices of Charlie Hedbo, a Gallic version of Private Eye which prides itself on its mix of cutting satire and investigative journalism.

Its latest edition carries a cartoon image of a bearded Mohammed - something which is blasphemous under Islamic law - and pretends that it is being 'guest edited' by the Prophet.

It is accompanied by the slogan '100 lashes if you don't die of laughter', and the magazine is renamed 'Sharia Hebdo', after Sharia law.

A source at the magazine, based in Boulevard Davout in the city's 20th arrondissement, said: 'Molotov cocktail petrol bombs were used to attack the offices first thing this morning.

'The attackers concentrated on the computer system, literally melting it. The offices were empty so nobody was injured, but thousands of euros worth of damage were caused.' [...]

The magazine's website was also hacked, with messages appearing in English and Turkish denouncing its journalists for causing widespread offence.

Armed police were this morning surrounding the charred remains of the building, which is close to a number of housing estates where the occupants are predominantly Muslim.

Many regularly complain about discrimination in a country where racial and religious tensions often boil to the surface in riots.

Six years ago, Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard provoked anger across the Islamic world when he published 12 satirical images of the Prophet in a Danish newspaper.

The then editor of Charlie Hebdo was prosecuted in France for 'insulting Muslims' after he reproduced those images, but he was acquitted in 2007.

Despite this morning's attack, the special edition of Charlie Hebdo was still on newsstands this morning, complete with an editorial 'by the Prophet' on Hallal drinks.
Good to see that they were able to get the edition to press. But with that told, it's additionally disgusting to learn that one of Time's reporters has blamed the victims for what they've gone through, and how about that, they won't come to the defense of a member of their own industry. More on the subject at Ace of Spades HQ. Time is another leftist publication that's long due for the dustbin, and I think it's high time now for another competition for drawing Mohammed in show of solidarity with free speech. In French, that's la solidarité.

Update: here's another item on the subject at Jihad Watch.

Rape crimes increasing at Occupy gatherings

Power Line presents some more disturbing info on how the Occupy "rallies" are unsafe for women and come to think of it, for anybody. Another example of how horrifically backwards some leftists can really be.

Congress should stop arms sales to Turkey

Michael Rubin at Commentary talks about Turkey's increased incitement against Israel and the west, and asks if Congress will stop arms sales to them. More than that, they should stop the arms sales to Turkey, if Erdogan and his dark forces are going to continue with that horrorfest they're running.

I do not know if I'll ever be as good as him, but I do my best.
