A punk rock band that'll have to be boycotted
American punk rock band Green Day used their performance at the Coachella music festival on Saturday night to make a political statement, altering the lyrics of one of their songs to reference the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.Obviously, whoever their audience is, they're of a most far-left nature themselves. Anybody who realizes what bad news such a bunch of creeps are should not buy any albums of theirs. This should also serve as a lesson why punk subculture can be very repellent in the long run.
During a rendition of their 2004 track Jesus of Suburbia, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong changed a line in the song’s lyrics. Instead of singing the original line, “Runnin’ away from pain when you’ve been victimized,” Armstrong sang, “Runnin’ away from pain like the kids from Palestine / Tales from another broken home.” The lyric change was met with cheers from the crowd.
The move was not unprecedented for the band, known for its politically charged performances. In 2016, during the U.S. presidential election, Green Day altered the lyrics of their song Holiday to protest then-candidate Donald Trump, referring to him as a “white supremacist.”
