White House pledges funds for Lebanon repairs, but not for Israel

Another reason why conservatives should be appalled at Dubya: he pledged $230 million for rebuilding Lebanon (H/T: IRIS Blog), yet his administration indicated that Israel will not receive any money for repairing northern neighborhoods that were damaged by the Hezbollah's katyusha rockets.

As Debbie Schlussel pointed out, it's very likely that the money will be funneled to the Hezbollah for their own uses. Put another way, Bush's pledge of funding insulting to all American citizens who don't want their tax dollars going to terrorists. I strongly urge all concerned to contact both the White House and their Congressmen to complain about this.

Update: and while we're on the subject, see also this item about the Red Cross giving aid to the Hezbollah. Like the UN, they're outmoded.

That money will go directly to Hezbollah. I don't know what Bush is thinking. Already reports say this has happened. Israel could have put the money to good use.
