Happy Jerusalem Day
Today is the day we celebrate the time when back in 1967, Israel liberated this city from Jordanian rule.
Now you've probably heard that the US ambassador to Israel decided to go the route of some EU ambassadors and boycott the invitation they were sent. That's certainly a disgrace that all they can do is rudely shun a polite invitation to join in a festivity, showing only that they've failed to rise above anti-Israelism. The mayor, Uri Lupolianski, said it right when he said:
So enjoy Jerusalem Day, and I hope it'll be good.

"Anyone who doesn't recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel does not recognize the state of Israel." -- Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski, in response to EU, US ambassadors' boycott of Jerusalem Day. 05/13/2007Oh, he's right about that. I'd say that's exactly why the reader, on the other hand, can show their solidarity by joining in the festivities that these ambassadors can't or won't.
So enjoy Jerusalem Day, and I hope it'll be good.
