Marine Le Pen may be gaining ground

The Weekly Standard reports that Jean-Marie Le Pen's daughter Marine may be gaining ground in French electoral polling, mostly because she doesn't exactly have the baggage problems her incredibly dumb father does. And as reported here, a new survey by Harris Interactive has put observers in shock.
Even if the poll doesn't make Marine Le Pen a favorite in next year's elections, as they say, this could suggest a major shakeup in French politics that'll make the Tea Party look like a minor adjustment. Actually, what really saddens me is how once again, the Front National is being resurrected, because Sarkozy may not be doing enough to fully satisfy. We can only hope that he'll continue to make some more positive steps, and he certainly did by admitting multiculturalism is a failure, and earlier by making reforms in the pension age and standing up to corrupt unions. But more important steps may be needed, if that's what it'll take to ensure that Marine Le Pen doesn't gain, and we shouldn't underestimate what could happen.
