Islam was the first socialist movement in the world
According to this article in Dawn (via Big Peace), Islam was surely the earliest ideology to take up the concepts inherent in socialism. And there's a verse in the Koran, 2:219, that says, “They ask you as to what they should spend. Say what is surplus with you”.
Who knew this could've been the earliest thing, whether religion or ideology, that would take up what in later years would come to be known as socialism?
