Ayelet Shaked, a candidate for the Jewish Home party, makes the case for why more Haredi men should be part of the work force in Israel:
Jewish Home-Tkuma Knesset candidate Ayelet Shaked, participated in a panel Monday which discussed the issue of Haredim in the IDF, where she expressed the view that forcing Haredim to enlist in the IDF is no solution, rather these men must be encouraged to work and make money, in order to help the economy.A very legitimate and worthy argument. They also have to learn how to be less insular in society and how to relate to the wider ones.
"I have an unusual view," Shaked said, "The tiny problem is that the Haredim do not serve in the IDF, the big problem is that 50% of Haredi men do not work, this is an existential threat to Israel, and if these numbers continue - the economy will collapse."
