Chemical warfare used in Syria
The Assad regime has gone beyond the pale with use of chemical warfare:
Specialists working with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) – the international medical charity – said that 3,600 patients were admitted to their clinics displaying symptoms of exposure to poisonous gases. If confirmed, this would be the deadliest use of chemical agents since Saddam Hussein gassed Iranian troops and Kurdish rebel areas in northern Iraq in the 1980s.Simply atrocious, and proves why all these Muslim autocracies in the mideast are very dangerous.
Of the patients MSF said 355 died – but the actual death toll is certain to be far higher, given the densely-populated nature of the suburbs where Wednesday's attack was launched.
The loss of life appeared last night to have pushed the West to reconsider its response to Syria.
