WotW member's house vandalized a second time
[Peggy] Cidor was woken up by police after a neighbor found the graffiti on her front door and in the apartment building's stairwell and reported the incident. The slogans scrawled around her home included "The Women of the Wall are villains," and "Peggy, beware."What this does say for now is that Haredis have no respect for other people's property, and judging by what a slum Mea Shearim looks like in some parts, no interest in keeping their neighborhoods tidy either. No doubt the spray paint cans they used were bought with welfare money.
Cidor later filed a formal complaint and the police launched an investigation.
"I feel threatened. It's a terrible feeling," she told Israel Hayom. "I point to the ones who are truly guilty in my eyes, not irresponsible youths, but the rabbis and leaders of a sector of the haredi public who incite [their followers] with strong language. There was wild incitement in their media outlets. I feel that my life is in danger. Maybe someone will [try to hurt me with] an improvised explosive device."
This is just why it is getting very aggravating that the extremist Haredis are making a mountain out of a molehill, and can't grow a thick skin. I hope the vandals are caught and jailed.
Update: this sure isn't uplifting:
“Women of the Wall condemns this act of violence, vandalism and threat,” the group said in a statement. “The organization and leaders have recently been the victims of an onslaught of false accusations and attacks by right-wing, Orthodox journalists and other bloggers. The connection is clear — incitement and false claims attacking WOW and their board members in the media directly cause a real, physical threat and danger to the lives of the women.”So they're taking out their anger on righties, and pinning this in part to the right. If Haredi hoodlums committed the vandalism, they have successfully helped a leftist movement gather ammo with which to attack the right. The worst part is that there's no chance they'll believe that the Haredi extremists don't speak for us, and should be throughly ashamed of the alarmingly vulgar MO they're going by. One more reason why I'm outraged at the Haredi community for the ghetto mentality they go by.
Update 2: the following was first published on Front Page, but now they've removed it, presumably because of lawsuit? It asks if WotW faked a hate crime against itself. Now that I think of it, yes, it's possible. If WotW is going to take out their anger on "righties" without even considering that many righties have the same positions as they do, then they're only demonstrating how suspect their motives really are.
