Should a girl be allowed to play on a mainly men's cricket match?
Maccabiah chairman Amir Peled is adamant that Naomi Eytan cannot play. “Just a couple of years ago an Israeli umpire was killed when he was hit by a ball,” he told the JC.Ahem. If it's because he feels that as a girl, she may not have the endurance for the impact of the ball being thrown by a man, he should say so, yet he remains ambiguous, so I'm not sure what his beef is.
When asked if he is suggesting that cricket is too dangerous for girls but not boys he added, “I didn’t say that. We have our regulations and we cannot allow mixed teams.”
If the case is taken to court, I'm okay with that. I'm not okay, however, with transgender men deliberately pretending to be women and butting in on women's sports to get prizes they don't deserve.
