Stabber at Paris police station was a Muslim convert
French detectives on Friday referred the investigation into a knife rampage by a staffer at Paris police headquarters that left four colleagues dead to anti-terrorist prosecutors, sources said, according to AFP.So now they tell us what his background was. Yet they failed to suspect him out of likely political correctness. And his wife, it appears, may have encouraged him to violence, if this AP Wire report says something:
Three police officers and an administrative worker -- three men and a woman -- died in the frenzied 30-minute attack by the 45-year-old computer expert that ended when he was shot dead.
Two others were injured in the Thursday lunchtime stabbing spree.
Earlier, officials said national anti-terror prosecutors were watching the murder probe closely but had not yet opened an investigation of their own.
Later on Friday, however, sources at both the Paris prosecutor's office which had been handling the inquiry and the anti-terrorist prosecutor's office (PNAT) said the case had now been passed to the latter.
The man, named as Mickael H., was born on the French overseas territory of Martinique in the Caribbean and was a recent convert to Islam. He was partially deaf.
He had worked for the police since 2003 without ever arousing suspicion. But his wife, who is being questioned by police, claimed he had behaved in an "unusual and agitated" manner the night before the attack, sources said.
The perpetrator of a deadly knife attack at a Paris police headquarters was likely in contact with members of an ultra-conservative Islamic movement, the Paris prosecutor said Saturday. It appears this is another case of a felon not being properly penalized for prior acts of violence, and it's possible he did communicate with Salafist terrorists, despite the AP's attempts to downplay all that. All that aside, that the Macron government would try to avoid the issue is shameful and repellent, and demonstrates exactly what's wrong with their conduct.
In a press conference, Jean-Francois Ricard said the civilian employee, who killed four of his colleagues Thursday, “had likely contacts with members of the Salafist movement.” [...]
It took some 24 hours for authorities to say the attack was a potential act of terrorism, and on Friday morning the French government was still maintaining there was nothing to suggest the armed attacker had any ties to extremist groups.
French opposition lawmakers from the Republicans and the far-right National Rally party are accusing Macron’s government of bungling the case and are calling for a parliamentary inquiry.
Ricard said the autopsies “attest to a scene of extreme violence” in an attack that lasted seven minutes, adding that two knives used had been purchased by the killer — including a knife for preparing oysters.
Ricard said that while the knifeman had no prior convictions, he had been accused of domestic violence a decade ago.
The wife of the knifeman, who was killed by police, has also been apprehended and is in custody until Monday at the latest. Ricard said she exchanged 33 text messages with her husband about Islam in the hours leading up to the attack.

Jonathan S. Tobin said:
“As our Evelyn Gordon wrote in a prescient COMMENTARY [magazine] article published in January 2010, by signaling its willingness to withdraw from some territory, the Israelis did not convince anyone of their good intentions.
To the contrary, such concessions reinforced the conviction that Israel was a thief in possession of stolen property.
The reaction from the Palestinians and hostile Europeans was not gratitude for the generosity of the Israelis in giving up land to which they too had a claim, but a demand that it be forced to give up even more.
Land-for-peace schemes and a belief in two states on the part of Israelis has always led most Palestinians to believe that their goal of forcing the Jews out of the entire country was more realistic, not less so.”

“How can we achieve peace if the Palestinian people remain without a place to call home? The answer is simple:
Jordan is already 78% of historical Palestine. Jordanians of Palestinian origin constitute more than 80% of the population according to U.S. intelligence cables leaked in 2010. Jordan is essentially already the Palestinian Arab state.
The only problem is, the King of Jordan refuses to acknowledge this.”

“J-Street and Peace Now and practically the entire Democratic Party and all of Western Europe take it as axiomatic that a new State of Palestine would bring peace.
Voices who point out that Israeli concessions in the past to Palestinians has brought less, not more, peace have been drowned out.”
