Sean Penn, major phony
It appears that actor Sean Penn tripped to New Orleans for the rescue mission in the Katrina aftermath just so that he could gain some actor's publicity from it, and was rewarded with a sinking vessel. From AFP, via Yahoo's news section:

...Movie star and political activist Penn, 45, was in the collapsing city to aid stranded victims of flooding sparked by Hurricane Katrina, but the small boat he was piloting to launch a rescue attempt sprang a leak.Ahem. "Outspoken" actor? Is that in the sense that he'd be taking a position like that of better people like Medved, Malkin, Limbaugh, and Cavuto? Because knowing that he is more or less against the deposing of Saddam, I don't see how that qualifies Penn for a term like that. Moonbats are speaking freely all the time, whereas for the more sensible crowd, theirs faces attempts to suppress it.
The outspoken actor had planned to rescue children waylaid by the deadly waters, but apparently forgot to plug a hole in the bottom of the vessel, which began taking water within seconds of its launch.
When the boat's motor failed to start, those aboard were forced to use paddles to propel themselves down the flooded New Orleans street.Me, I wouldn't set foot in his sinking ship even if he paid me for it. And I think I'll be avoiding all and any movies of his in the future too.
Asked what he had hoped to achieve in the waterlogged city, the actor replied: "Whatever I can do to help."
But with the boat loaded with members of the Oscar-winner's entourage, including his personal photographer, one bystander taunted: "How are you going to get any people in that thing?"
