Fawaz Damra is deported, but it's still not enough
The Akron Beacon-Journal (via Debbie Schlussel, who's done some of the best coverage of the case), has a report by the AP Wire on the deportation of Fawaz Damra, the imam who was in charge of the Cleveland Mosque, and is a most notorious terrorist supporter, and has had connections with some of the worst Islamic terror gangs out there:
As Pat Campbell notes, deportation is too easy, and in fact, is dangerous: what if Damra goes and joins up with any of these terrorist cells outside the US to plot more evil? In fact, that's something to worry about when it comes to all the Muslim deportees who took part in the Islamic led riots in France. All countries concerned should be on the lookout for possible returns of these fiends as members of even more vicious terrorist cells planning attacks on democracies.

CLEVELAND - Federal authorities arrested an Islamic religious leader Friday as they began the process of deporting him for supporting terrorist groups. At the same time, Brian Moskowitz, the ICE official in charge of the offices in Michigan and Ohio, tried to claim it as his own victory. But don't be fooled. Debbie's done extensive coverage on Moskowitz as well, and not only was any role in getting Damra deported as he should have been long ago formal at best, his statements in the AP's report are nothing more than...just that. Moskowitz is little more than just another real life version of the emperor from Hans Christian Anderson's classic tale, and is simply not fit for his job.
Imam Fawaz Damra, the leader of the state's largest mosque, was arrested without incident at 6 a.m. as he left his residence in the suburb of Strongsville, according to a federal official.
Damra, 44, was convicted in June 2004 of concealing ties to three groups that the U.S. government classifies as terrorist organizations when he applied for U.S. citizenship in 1994.
That conviction was upheld in March, clearing the way for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to begin deportation proceedings.
In Damra's trial last year, prosecutors showed video footage of him and other Islamic leaders raising money for an arm of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which has been listed as a major terrorist group by the State Department since 1989.
Jurors also were shown footage in which Damra called Jews "the sons of monkeys and pigs" during a 1991 speech and said "terrorism and terrorism alone is the path to liberation" in a 1989 speech.
