Saudis try to influence American media

Accuracy in Media (via Mediacrity) discusses how America's enemies are trying to gain influence over major media sources in the US, including the Saudi prince Al-Waleed, who bought stock in Rupert Murdoch's NewsCorp. And they make a good point in how, just because Murdoch runs what's thought of as being a "conservative" news source such as FOX News, doesn't mean he's on that side himself:
It is widely assumed Murdoch himself is a conservative because of the editorial policies at his newspapers and the fact that Fox's "Fair and Balanced" format accords the conservative side a respectable hearing. But the media tycoon has given gobs of money to Democrats (including Al Gore in 2000). The belief among those who watch the media closely is that Murdoch is simply a smart CEO who has figured out something that other media legends have missed—conservatism sells. It's as simple as that. Conservatives, while thankful for one TV network that gives them a break, should not assume Murdoch is one of them.

What are the odds that Islamofascist propaganda (not to be confused with peaceful Muslims) will seep into the American mainstream as a result of this?
See also this entry from History News Network on how Waleed's been making efforts to edit FOX reports to his favor. As they say here:
FOX news must be carefully watched not for conservative bias but for Bin Talal kind of bias. The Accuracy in the Media Report entitled "Radical Arabs Seek Influence Over U.S. Media - December A" should be taken seriously indeed.
Yep.

Well Avi, I think America would be quite shocked to realize that in England Murdoch is thought to be, at least with his Sky News, all the way to the left...

Yeah, I'm aware of the fact that Sky News is almost as bad as BBC. That certainly gives a clue to Murdoch's duplicity.

Already influenced ours in OZ.
Just look Murdoch's coverage of the latest "RACIAL" riots.

Alexandra,
Rupert was called by some of his family members (including his mother) - Red Rupert.
He basically runs PRC media and that communist censorship doesn't bother him at all.
In OZ his top columnist are commies (e.g. Phillip Adams).
He only attacked conservative audience in the US because it was the most available slice of th emarket pie.

Thanks for the notes, Felis and CTT.
