Tolerating the intolerant: fatal error
The Australian talks about why tolerating the intolerant could be the death of us (Hat tip: Aussie News and Views, which also has an audio podcast of a radio interview with reporter Alan Jones and Piers Akerman that's also recommended).
This also reminded me of something else I'd heard some European politicians saying that needs some focus: that the tactics of Islamofascism are unacceptable "in a secular society."
Now I'm not sure who and which ones in Europe said this, but, I think that's putting it lightly, and in fact, it's just the tip of the iceberg. Even in a religious society, the kind of racist, segragative, dictatorial, domineering and violent culture as advocated by Islam is unacceptable. Violence and racism are unacceptable at any time and in any form. To say that such fanaticism is unacceptable within simply a "secular society" is to seriously miss the point, not just because even religious societies, Jewish, Christian and Buddhist, have suffered from Islamofacism, but also because violent culture is unacceptable even within any religion. And, it makes no difference whether it's being practiced in or out of an Islamic country; the kind of barbaric crimes perpetrated by Islamofascists are absolutely unacceptable anywhere. That's one of the reasons why politicians in America and Europe need to speak out on matters like these, to decry cannibalism within Muslim countries as well as without. Otherwise, how do they truly expect to help their own western countries and nations?
