Bryan at Hot Air talks about how Austin in Texas has become a bastion for ultra-leftists, and how the Texas senate invited imam Yusuf Kavakci, an ayatollah Khomeini supporter, to a prayer sermon there. But who was it who actually invited him there? Not the Democratic members, but rather, a liberal Republican, Florence Shapiro. Republican state senator Dan Patrick was quite right to walk out of the whole show.
The most maddening thing about this whole sordid case is that this is also a Jewish politician who invited this vicious imam to speak there. It's awful just how many pseudo-representatives of my community are in the political field just now. Shapiro does not speak for people of my standing and should be ashamed of herself for inviting the fiend to the Texas senate as if nothing ever happened. It's time to start cultivating Jewish politicians with more recognition of what they're dealing with and with more respect for their own identity, as well as that of other more respectable communities.
