Republicans have been demanding that the lawsuit protections be added in a conference committee meeting to reconcile the House and Senate versions of what has been dubbed the “9/11 bill.” The committee, of which Coleman is a member, adjourned Thursday without taking up the proposal.Absolutely not, nor should residents of other countries fear doing the right thing either. It's good if this important amendment is going to be in discussion again. If so, then people should continue to lobby for it until it's time for it to appear in Congress again.
Coleman’s staff said the measure could come up again as the Senate finishes work on the conference report this week.
The postponement came as 64 House Republicans — including Rep. John Kline of Minnesota — distributed a letter saying “No American should fear lawsuits for doing the right thing.”
