Sir Salman has now been knighted
In a bit of positive news from Britain, the queen has given Salman Rushdie a most well-deserved knighthood (via The Jawa Report):
LONDON (AFP) - Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday gave the British author Salman Rushdie a knighthood which caused protests by Muslims around the world when it was announced last year.Well boo hoo, cry us a nice cold bath. This is very good for Rushdie, something he should've recieved a long time ago. Any chance he might even get a sword like King Arthur's Excalibur to go with all that?
Rushdie, 61, was knighted for his services to literature.
When the knighthood was announced in the queen's birthday honours list last June, it sparked condemnation from a number of Muslim countries and organisations.
