Notes on the US Supreme Court
The Supreme Court's leftists have been really trying the public's patience lately. They voted against a law in Louisiana that makes it possible to enact the death penalty against child rapists. There's been a poll recently that shows that Americans feel so-called lawmakers like those have their own political agendas and are letting them dictate how they deal with such legal proceedings (Hat tip: Hot Air and Michelle Malkin).
I must concur that these leftists have really blown it. There are some cases where, even if the victim wasn't murdered, it's still repugnant enough (sometimes even too much to write about on this blog, I might add), and warrants severe punishment.
Surprisingly enough, now that their ratings have dropped recently thanks to this ludicrious misuse of their positions (via Hot Air Headlines), they've upheld the Second Amendment right to bear arms (also via Hot Air). But you what? I still don't think that compensates for their failure to uphold severe punishment, and if they really want to reconcile with the public, then I'd suggest they retract their other ruling on the death penalty. Otherwise, this current one is just a drop in the bucket.
