Hulu could take over from where TV leaves off
According to the following report from Media Post, the video site of Hulu could one day wipe out network television:
Of course, living overseas, I can't even watch anything on Hulu, because they block viewings of their content outside the US. It's a shame, but until they're willing to consider that overseas audiences would also like to watch their archives, neither I nor others here will be able to check them out. I'm not sure even Fancast can be viewed overseas.
If analyst Laura Martin is right, Hulu is the demon seed that will wipe out the network television business as we know it. In a new report, the Soleil Securities analyst estimates that the online video hub will cost TV networks $920 per viewer in advertising if their audiences are cannibalized by Hulu. And she believes the bulk of viewing on Hulu is indeed taking eyeballs from TV.And I can offer a good reason why: since it's mainly video productions you find there, the key to success is that you can pause the recordings any time during play, if you need to answer the door, relieve yourself, or even have some dinner in between, and need not worry about missing a thing! In that case, is it any wonder Hulu is edging out standard network TV?
