Almaleki arrested

The man who tried to honor murder his daughter in Arizona with a Jeep Grand Cherokee has been arrested:
PEORIA, AZ -- A man who fled after he allegedly hit his daughter and another woman with a vehicle in a Peoria parking lot last month is back in the Valley.

Police Spokesman Mike Tellef said Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, was returned to Peoria Saturday and booked on two charges of aggravated assault before being transported to the 4th Avenue Jail in Phoenix.

Almaleki allegedly hit his daughter and a friend with his car because he believed his daughter had become “too westernized." He was taken into custody in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday.

Authorities had been searching for Almaleki after he allegedly struck Noor Faleh Almaleki, 20, and Amal Edan Khalaf, 43, in the parking lot of a Department of Economic Security building on October 20, according to Tellef.

Noor Almaleki suffered life threatening injuries and remained unresponsive as of Thursday. Amal Khalaf suffered serious physical injuries and remains in serious, but stable condition.

After the hit and run, Peoria Police Department Spokesperson Jay Davies said Almaleki drove his vehicle to Mexico and abandoned it in Nogales where officials there later located and seized it.

Almaleki then made his way to Mexico City, where he reportedly boarded a plane to London.

When he arrived in London, UK Port of Entry authorities denied him entry into the country, according to Davies.

The UK contacted US authorities and Almaleki was placed on a plane back to the US and arrested Thursday afternoon when he arrived in Atlanta.
It's a good thing that the UK authorities cooperated here. Knowing that country, what if they hadn't?

Phyllis Chesler, who pointed to this news, has also brought up the case of a Muslim woman named Rabia Sarwar who tried to murder her husband.
