Hudson court may seize imam Rauf's slums in Union City, NJ
The Jersey Journal (via Atlas Shrugs) tells that the Hudson court in New Jersey is weighing decisions on what to do about Feisal Abdul Rauf's "properties" in Union City. I hadn't discussed it here enough before, but as the NY Post revealed almost 2 months ago, Rauf happens to be quite a slumlord, setting up apartments with astonishingly awful fire and health code violations, to say nothing of a lack of cleanliness:
The court most certainly should confiscate the property, and declare it condemned and uninhabitable unless another party/business can take it over and make the needed repairs that the apartments require.
I wonder if any money Rauf's made off the apartments has been used to finance terrorism? That's another reason the court should take away the buildings.
UNION CITY -- City officials conducted a final inspection on Oct. 21 of the 16-unit building owned by the imam who intends to build a mosque and Islamic cultural center near Ground Zero and say fire violations still exist at the Central Avenue property.Wow. The problems with slumlords who control apartment complexes with poor service, something last century had a problem with, are still around. I'm guessing that rent control is still a problem too. Only this time, it's Islamofascists who are running the show.
Hudson County Judge Thomas Olivieri will hold a conference call with city officials and attorneys representing Feisal Abdul Rauf on Nov. 9 to decide what should happen with the building, officials said.
As a result of accumulating over 200 fire and health code violations, including problems with bedbugs, mold, and faulty fire alarms, the city had petitioned the court to put 2206 Central Ave. into receivership, meaning a third-party would be responsible for collecting rent and maintaining the property.
City officials said today the bedbug infestation persists in four out of the building's 16 units, some sewer lines have not been capped, and a fire escape ladder is still not working properly.
The court most certainly should confiscate the property, and declare it condemned and uninhabitable unless another party/business can take it over and make the needed repairs that the apartments require.
