Attempted gun snatcher gets shot
A security guard shot a Palestinian man who launched an attack on both security forces and police at the entrance to Ma'aleh Adumim on Wednesday. He doesn't deserve medical treatment, really. He should just suffer from his injuries while in a cell.
The suspect rammed his vehicle into a police car at the entrance to the town, before running towards private security guards and trying to snatch one of their handguns, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.
"In response, the guard opened fire, striking the man," Rosenfeld added. The attacker, aged 30, was rushed to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center Jerusalem in serious condition.
Police are investigating the incident.
In a similar incident four months ago, security forces arrested a Palestinian resident of the West Bank on suspicion of stabbing an Israeli security guard in the same area. The suspect, named as 20- year-old Ala Hanaisha, confessed to stabbing and lightly injuring the guard.
During questioning, he said the attack was motivated by nationalistic sentiment, police said.
