The failed side of the IDF

A mother in Sde Avraham was lucky to be learning Krav Maga, as this helped her to fight off a jihadist who broke into her house, even as she'd been injured. The monster was gunned down while trying to escape. But the IDF, according to a security team member at the village, bears some responsibility for the terrorist's breaching the parameters in the first place:
Update: Naomi Ragen has more about the impressive courage of the mother.
The terrorist apparently entered Israel from Gaza near the Kerem Shalom crossing, he said, breaching a “smart fence” that warns of infiltration. The warning sounded, but was not dealt with. [...]I'm afraid they're right. That's why more alertness is badly needed, and dedication to ground defense.
Edry called on the IDF to “learn lessons” from the event. “We must not wake up in the morning feeling unprotected,” he said.
“There were serious failures here,” he added. “Residents here are waiting for the next round of fighting, and they are not happy with how the war ended. Everyone knows that even after Pillar of Defense the situation is going to get worse.”

Avi,
This seems like a very newsworthy story, does it not?
I am wondering why it is not being reported by the big MSM outlets.
I can guess why: they simply don't want anyone to know about an inspiring story of a woman who learned how to defend herself and her children. It's very typical of the mainstream press to turn their backs on something like this.
