Another savage act of jihad murder took place at a yeshiva in Jerusalem's Har Nof neighborhood
, taking the lives of at least 4 people and injuring several others before police were able to gun them down:
The son of Harvard’s Center for Jewish Studies’ founding director has been identified as one of four rabbis — three American — killed this morning in a terrorist attack during morning prayers at a synagogue in the Har Nof neighborhood of Jerusalem.
Funeral services for Rabbi Moshe Twersky, a Boston native and son of the late Rabbi Isadore Twerksy of Brighton, were planned for this afternoon. Yeshivas Toras Mosche, the Israeli religious studies institute where Twersky was dean, said in a statement, “It is with great pain and sorrow that we inform you of the murder of HaRav Hagaon Rav Moshe Twersky in today’s terrorist attack in Har Nof.”
Twersky, 59, was a 1973 graduate of the Maimonides School in Brookline, which was founded by his grandfather Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik.
According to Consul General Yehuda Yaakov, Consul General of Israel to New England, the other three killed in Tuesday’s synagogue attack in Jerusalem were American rabbis Aryeh Kopinsky, 43, and Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Goldberg, 58, and British Rabbi Calman Levine.A ll held dual Israeli citizenship, according to the Associated Press.
The victims were reportedly slaughtered, and more than a dozen others wounded, when two Arab militants burst into the Kehilat Bnei Torah Synagogue with a gun, meat cleaver and ax. The suspects were killed by responding police, according to the World Jewish Congress.
“Our hearts go out to the victims of this heinous crime and to their families. (This was) obviously the result of an orchestrated campaign by Palestinian groups whose sole aim is to incite to hatred against Jews,” WJC President Ronald Lauder said in a statement.
Yes, I think it was, though one of the senior police officials says if it was a "lone wolf" attack, then it's very hard to predict their actions. For now, the police did the right thing to wipe out the culprits. I hope they'll be demolishing their homes next. Keep the victims in your prayers.
