IDF soldier's car attacked with rocks in Ramat Beit Shemesh, causing it to crash
An IDF soldier driving in one of the radical Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) neighborhoods of Beit Shemesh had stones thrown at his car by extremists, causing him to lose control and crash into a pillar. It's too bad the soldier didn't crash the car into some of the hoodlums too. But, the police arrested at least one of the offenders:
The soldier was only lightly injured but taken to Hadassah University Medical Center, in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem neighborhood for treatment.
[...] A small number of non-Haredi activists later staged a demonstration at the site of the incident in the Ramat Beit Shemesh Bet neighborhood in opposition to the violence and extremism of elements within the Haredi community.
The police said an investigation into the incident has been opened.
Police arrested an anti-draft extremist in Beit Shemesh Monday evening, hours after an IDF soldier was injured in a stone-throwing attack that caused him to lose control of his vehicle and crash. [...]Oh, sure Abutbol does. He was blaming the victims some time ago, as the recent court judges noted in the case against the modesty signs, and anybody who thinks he'll change instantly would do well not to be taken in. He was at fault before, and is still bound to be at fault now. He's not a trustworthy politician at all.
Police units were also dispatched to the scene of the attack, and opened an investigation into the incident.
On Monday night, police arrested one suspect in connection with the attack, Behadrei Haredim reported.
Beit Shemesh Mayor Moshe Abutbol condemned the attack.
“It is sad that we have these kinds of extremists living here. I once again call on the extremists, as I called on them at [last year’s] Memorial Day honoring fallen IDF soldiers: get out of our city.”
