Author of "Submission" says EU is killing the continent
Bestselling French writer Michel Houellebecq, author of the dystopian novel Submission, has claimed the West is in an advanced state of decline, echoing the views of the late philosopher Oswald Spengler.I know some populists are trying to change things for the better. But I think it'd be far better to just dismantle the EU, or turn it into simply a trade commission, or some other non-political body to ensure it wouldn't be able to prove the menace it is now.
Mr Houellebecq, who’s novel Submission looked at a France in which a pro-Sharia Islamist becomes the country’s president, said he saw the West in an advanced state of decline due to the rise of Islam and demographic changes caused by mass migration and low birthrates, Le Point reports.
[...] Houellebecq also railed against the European Union: “In the recent history of France, there is something that is not about suicide but about murder. And the culprit of this assassination is hardly difficult to discover: it is the European Union,” he declared.
Houellebecq deserves admiration for putting blame where it's due. He also speaks of a possible Christian revival in France and Europe, which does seem to be taking place. But much more is needed if the disaster is ever to be reversed.
