Iowa Democrat wears hijab at Islamic center after mocking Christians

A Democrat named Cindy Axne certainly gave a poor impression of herself after she not only mocked Christianity, but also wore a hijab at an Islamic center in Iowa:
After vulnerable Rep. Cindy Axne, Iowa’s lone congressional Democrat, mocked Christians during an out-of-state campaign event with a far-left activist group, she donned a hijab at Iowa Islamic Center while looking to make a positive impression on voters ahead of the upcoming election.

[...] While Axne called her constituents of the Christian faith “anti-vaxxer crazies,” she forgot to mention that the Democrat politicians wanted to force restrictions on Americans, which “temporarily closed houses of worship,” which caused the polarization of going to church.

Following many gaffes and mishaps over the past year from Axne, this past weekend looking to correct some of her mistakes and make a positive impression on voters ahead of the upcoming election, she donned a hijab at Iowa Islamic Center.
And it goes entirely without saying what she did was embracing a practice demeaning to women, no matter what religion is in focus. The Catholic wimple is decidedly a poor example for women of religious standing, but if Axne was ever in any way claiming she disapproves, her embrace of Islam's similar form of dress contradicts that, and suggests it's more likely she just doesn't see the Christian religion in any way as being satisfying enough for a religion to represent such forms of dress. Or, put another way, she approves of the idea women should degrade themselves with such an outfit, but doesn't think Christianity is where it should be done. It remains to be seen whether this publicity stunt will cost her her job in the Iowa assembly come election day later this year. People like her have done a terrible disfavor to women with the example she's setting.
