More Lev Tahor members arrested by Mexican authorities
Mexican police raided a local immigration facility near the border with Guatemala on Friday and arrested 17 members of the "Lev Tahor" sect.If they're imprisoned in Mexico, where authorities can physically punish serious offenders, they'll deserve everything they get.
During the raid, 26 cult members were found in the compound. Two of them, a Canadian citizen and an Israeli citizen, were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking and serious sexual offenses punishable by about 20 years in prison.
Yisrael Amir, who escaped the sect a few years ago, and several members of his family, participated in the raid to identify his 3-year-old son, his sister and his brother who are still members of the sect. Yisrael's son was located at the scene and he was taken to Israel by his father. We must hope any other cult members now on the lam will be caught as well, and deprogrammed upon capture too. The damage the late cult leader Helbrun caused is tremendous, and will take years to mend.
Two other wanted persons were not found and according to testimonies, they left with another group of friends about two days before the raid. Five others were detained on the spot and are expected to be deported for illegal stay, and the rest of the people who stayed at the compound were transferred to the compound of the Mexican Ministry of Welfare, where they are expected to stay for four days.
Update: here's more on the father who rescued his son from the repulsive cult, and it tells something most disturbing:
It was also crucial for Amir to bring his son back before the sect follows through on revealed plans to relocate to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Last year, an official letter was sent by the leaders of Lev Tahor in which they declared "loyalty and surrender" and requested "cooperation against the Zionist rule."That the cult leaders were willing to do such a thing says everything you need to know about where they could stand on Islam, not to mention barbarism and antisemitism. It's very fortunate the clan was stopped before they could leave for that chamber of horrors country.
The Israeli families of the cult members were deeply concerned by this development since the Lev Tahor members would likely be used as bargaining chips by Iran against Israel or be publicly murdered to send a message if they were to find their way to Tehran.
