Here's some data on Ammo about crime rates across the USA, and a most interesting point to consider:

89% of firearms used in crimes were obtained illegally, per a 2016 BJS report.

Interesting. That's something not often discussed in the wider MSM. Obviously, there's a black market for firearms in the USA as much as anywhere else, and if that's not dealt with, no wonder it'll continue to be very easy for criminals to obtain them without license and registration. Also:

There is little correlation between a state’s firearm laws and violent crime rates. While New Hampshire has relaxed firearms laws, the state’s violent crime rate in 2022 was only 146.38. Washington, D.C., has extensive firearm regulations but a much higher violent crime rate per capita.

Again, when black markets for guns aren't combatted, that's why it's easy for illegal firearms to wind up in criminal hands in many urban areas. What can be done about it?
