I thought the term was "dovish"!

What does the ultra-PC AP Wire describe Democrat John Murtha as? Well, wait'll you see this:

"It is time for a change in direction," said Rep. John Murtha (news, bio, voting record), D-Pa., one of Congress' most hawkish Democrats. "Our military is suffering, the future of our country is at risk. We cannot continue on the present course. It is evident that continued military action in Iraq is not in the best interests of the United States of America, the Iraqi people or the Persian Gulf region."
Wow! These kind of anti-warrists are usually described as "dovish" where I come from. Now, it looks like a whole new description's been coined for them, that being what the patriots in favor of bringing down the dictators like Saddam are usually called, which is "hawkish"! Gee, what'll the MSM think of next?

Murtha and other Democrats of his standing might also want to take a look at recent polls pointing out that only twenty percent of Americans support a pullout from Iraq just now. One Jerusalem also points out that
A Democratic Iraq will transform the Middle East in a way nothing else can. That is why the Saudis and the Iranians are so desperate to stop this transformation.
One more reason why it would be ill-advised to withdraw, because that'd be basically caving in to such totalitarian regimes as Saud and Iran, and even the PLO, whose leaders/members were and are also against the reshaping of Iraq.

Others on the subject include Instapundit, Sister Toldjah, National Review's The Corner, Protein Wisdom, Big Lizards, Iowa Voice, Confederate Yankee.

  • I was born in Pennsylvania in 1974, and moved to Israel in 1983. I also enjoyed reading a lot of comics when I was young, the first being Fantastic Four. I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
