Republicans make fools of themselves by cancelling ANWR
Something is very wrong with the Republicans lately, as Beth at My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy discovered: they backed down on a bill for drilling oil in Alaska that could save the US tons of money. In a reply she got to the question from the Republican Main Street Partnership, it was said that:
Michelle Malkin's got more on the subject, featuring letters of rightfully appalled readers, plus, if you'd like to contact House speaker Dennis Hastert on the topic, go here.
The Anchoress also features a good argument on this incredibly angering position they took.
But most interesting of all perhaps, is this page here explaining who exactly the Main Street Individual Fund is, ditto this one on the Republican Main Street Partnership. They're the ones who helped torpedo the project, and among their contributors is George Soros, who's known to be a very big lefty.
Others on the subject include Donkey Stomp, Infinity Prolonged, Wizbang, Oblogatory Anecdotes, Sister Toldjah, The Pink Flamingo Bar and Grill, BizzyBlog, MacStansbury.Org, Mark the Pundit, Weapons of Mass Destruction, California Conservative, Gina Cobb, Junkyard Blog, Below the Beltway, The Blue State Conservatives, Ace of Spades, Sensible Mom, Iowa Voice, Euphoric Reality, Ankle Biting Pundits, Project Nothing, Bird, Conservativity, Severe Writers Block.
Thank you for taking the time to write. The ANWR vote for some Members of Congress would cost them their seat in Congress, jeopardizing the Republican majority. The Members are responding to their constituents needs and we hope you can understand. No, I don't understand. This is enough to make one wonder if they're more interested in spending tons of money on Saudi oil when they could save tons of said money by drilling at home instead. What is this, a parroting of the Dubya adminstration's own positions on maintaining relations with the House of Saud? I'm not impressed.
