Political Don Quixotes

Politakid discovered a few days ago that Michael Berg, the father of Nick Berg, who was brutally murdered by the al Qaeda in Iraq in 2004, is going to run for Congress in Delaware next year with Ralph Nader's Green Party. And the bad news is that he's the male version of Cindy Sheehan. He may not be running with the Democrats, but even so, that someone who's apparently doing a grave disservice to his loved one is still very bad.

And, while we're on the subject, here's another example of someone who's too far removed from reality, that being Israel Labor party member Collette Avital. As Cosmic X says:
It is interesting because it demonstrates the total disengagement from reality and the inability to carry on a rational discussion that characterizes many Israeli leftists. Colette, read my lips: The Oslo Agreements were an act of insanity and stupidity, and you and your friends are responsible for it.
And then, there's Mary Mapes, who's unwilling to come to terms with Dan Rather's own wrongdoing, and I'm sure wouldn't be willing to admit that Peter Jennings and Tom Brokaw were just as bad. (Via Michelle Malkin.) If people like that are afraid or unwilling to come to terms with reality, then they shouldn't be wasting their time in the political/media world, period. They could relieve themselves of a lot of stress that way.

And the first two of the three examples given here would be advised to take a good look at what the author of Don Quixote, Cervantes, who had been a prisoner and a slave of Arab pirates in his time, had to say:
"Trust no Moors [Muslims], they are all deceitful." -- Cervantes

About me

  • I'm Avi Green
  • From Jerusalem, Israel
  • I was born in Pennsylvania in 1974, and moved to Israel in 1983. I also enjoyed reading a lot of comics when I was young, the first being Fantastic Four. I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
