Samuel Alito is now Chief Justice
It's certainly quite pleasing that judge Samuel Alito's now been nominated for Chief Justice. With any luck, he'll go on to be an inspiration for many law systems in many other places.
That the Democrats' attempt to filibuster the nomination didn't work could very easily be because they made such a big deal out of it. If they didn't go to such lengths as to politicize more than 90 percent of whatever's done in the US, maybe they could have some sensible cases to make, but alas, they're still slumming. I would strongly suggest that they stop worrying 24 hours a day about political matters, and go find some simple entertainment or pastime to spend time on instead. If they did, I'm sure it could help.
For now, nice to know that a judge who can make independent decisions has been nominated, and I wish him well at the job of Chief Judge.
