Why the GOP could lose their House majority this year
Real Clear Politics (via Oraculations) talks about why the Republicans could lose this year's election, and presents polls that show that Democrats could have a very sizable lead over them too.
If indeed they do lose, well, there's some very good reasons that have come up, even now, as to why. The deal with Dubai to buy Doncasters, which has gone all but unchallenged, is one of them. And then there's the fact that the Republicans did not take a firm stance regarding illegal immigration, their having approved of funding to stop the flow notwithstanding. I think it could also be because Bill Frist for one did not apologize publicly for the errors he made in making it seem as if he'd be willing to support amnesty when he did.
But believe it or not, it's not just the fault of the politicians. Even some conservative columnists and other influential representatives who were vocal about Portgate either may have been - or were - surprisingly silent this time. Tammy Bruce, if anyone, certainly came out against this, yet others, while I won't name them, I certainly will say that it surprises me that they too have failed to speak out. By not doing so, they run the risk of damaging their credibility, and that too can undermine the conservative movement.
