To allow Ahmedinejad to visit Ground Zero would be a victory for America's enemies

But then, so is allowing him to enter the United States, even to visit the UN council. First, here's what was reported yesterday (via Melanie Phillips), and Mitt Romney summed it up correctly about the monster:

"It's inconceivable that any consideration would be given to the idea of entertaining the leader of a state sponsor of terror at ground zero," Mr. Romney said in a statement. "This would deeply offend the sensibilities of Americans from all corners of our nation. Instead of entertaining Ahmadinejad, we should be indicting him."
Which is exactly what Israel should have done with Yasir Arafat, and should be doing with Mahmoud Abbas even now.

Ahmedinejad's request has fortunately been denied, and opponents of his visit make some good points:

The proposed visit also angered families of the victims of September 11 and local officials, including the City Council speaker, Christine Quinn, who said she had already been planning to attend a protest against the Iranian leader.

Mr. Ahmadinejad "is not welcome in our community, where we have seen the results, the ultimate results, of what happens when one disrespects the value of human life," a council member who represents Lower Manhattan, Alan Gerson, said. Council Member Eric Gioia said he would be organizing a protest at ground zero with victims' families in the event that Mr. Ahmadinejad does visit.

"It's an outrage," Mr. Gioia said. "The city of New York should not be giving a photo op to a tyrant."

Debra Burlingame — whose brother was killed when the hijacked airplane he was piloting crashed into the Pentagon on the morning of September 11, 2001 — said the visit would be "morally offensive."

She said allowing the request would play right into Mr. Ahmadinejad's hand.

"I think this would be a photo op for Ahmadinejad that would be published all over the radical Islamic world as him visiting the site of their greatest victory," she said.
That's exactly why he should not even be allowed to enter the United States. Not even to attend the corrupt United Nations council. What Dubya did by letting him into the US earlier was throughly unacceptable, and it's high time that Ahmedinejad be barred from ever entering the US ever again, unless it's in order to arrest him for high crimes against humanity. Shouldn't the authorities now be taking steps to put him under lock and key then?

Update: predictably, the traitorous dean of Columbia U, Lee Bollinger, has invited the Iranian tyrant to speak at the campus. I have no doubt that in contrast to the Minutemen, he'll get a very warm welcome there, won't he?

More on this at Hot Air. This travesty could very well happen, which is why we need to be on our guard as to what news develops. John McCain has said that the monster should be "physically restrained" from visiting there. More than that, he should be arrested upon any entry he makes to the US. There's already a movement being organized to protest his coming, and anyone who can attend is strongly urged to do so.

Update 2: Columbia U. has been urged to cancel Ahmedinejad's speech (also via Michelle).

Update 3: The JTA reports that some Jewish leaders and others have been calling for Ahmedinejad's arrest as well.

Update 4: another reason to boycott Columbia U: they'd invite Hitler to the campus. More on this at Michelle's blog too. With this news, I'd say that some very legitimate reasons for boycotting this repugnant university have just surfaced.

Update 5: also important is the memory of Shiri Negari, a lady who was murdered by a Hamas suicide bombing. Iran is a leading funder of Hamas, and this is something they're responsible for too. Michelle Malkin has more, and also see this entry by Stacy McCain at the Wash. Times.
