Last House to veer to the left?
Mike Long, another contributor to Big Hollywood, argues that the remake of the overrated Wes Craven's 1972 movie that was based on the Virgin Spring, sensationalizes the rape taking place inside it, and even oddly presents the villains sympathetically at times. If that's what goes on in this new movie, that's very grave.
Perhaps Long would also like to take an in depth look at DC Comics's Identity Crisis, which does some similar things, and which I've spoken about mainly on my comics blog. After all, comic books that sensationalize/trivialize serious subjects can't be overlooked any more than movies can.
(On a side note, it's eerie how Wes Craven's name suits him as a director who dealt mainly with horror films.)
