Gen. David Petraeus throws credibility out the window (update: news had been distorted)
General Petraeus was attacked by leftists during the Bush administration's run. At that time, I did feel appalled at how he was being targeted.
Now, I discover via Nicholas Guariglia at Pajamas Media that Petraeus blames the existence of terror groups like Hezbollah on the Israeli-palestinian conflict:
General Petraeus, I'm sorry, but if that's how it's going to be, then I cannot offer my support.
Update: as I've since discovered, it appears that the info here on Petraeus was inaccurate, a fabrication of Mark Perry, an Arafat advisor.
Now, I discover via Nicholas Guariglia at Pajamas Media that Petraeus blames the existence of terror groups like Hezbollah on the Israeli-palestinian conflict:
Petraeus is a respected man, whose opinions are highly valued and held in high esteem — which makes his recent comment about the terrorist group Hezbollah all the more surprising. Just prior to the Lebanese elections — elections that Hezbollah lost, thank goodness — Gen. Petraeus spoke with the Arabic-language al-Hayat newspaper, published by the Lebanese Daily Star, and blamed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for the existence of Hezbollah. “Hezbollah’s justifications for existence will become void,” Petraeus said, “if the Palestinian cause is resolved.”Does he really believe that? Some way to toss all appreciation for him to the winds. Here, he had the chance to win the admiration of people like me. Instead, more than a year after his unfair targeting by the left, and he makes it impossible to do so.
