Clearer details on the Fort Hood jihadist
Some more exact details have emerged on Malik Nidal Hasan, who murdered 12 people at Fort Hood. Contrary to earlier reports, he's still alive and now in custody after being wounded, and the female officer who shot him is also still alive. And a relative of his told FOX that he was always a Muslim, and, in a predictable form of apologia, the relative also said he was a "good American".
According to the Wash. Post (via The Jawa Report):
FOX News now reports:
I think there's going to have be some serious consideration about letting Muslims serve in the army if they could pose the stealth threat Hasan became.
See also these posts at Jihad Watch that tell a lot more about Hasan and some of the horrific things he wrote online. Why a man like that would be allowed to continue his army career is beyond me.

According to the Wash. Post (via The Jawa Report):
He had been a "very devout" worshiper at the Muslim Community Center in Silver Spring, attending prayers at least once a day, often in his Army fatigues, said Faizul Khan, a former imam there. But even more astounding is to learn that this sheep's clothing monster was a psychiatrist. There may have been absurd depictions of psychiatrists in fiction years before that depicted them as evil. But now, as this case suggests, it may not be so farfetched. That said, the SanFrancisco Chronicle tells that his performance in this career was said to be very poor.
FOX News now reports:
A former neighbor of Hasan's in Silver Spring, Md., told Fox News he lived there for two years with his brother and had the word "Allah" on the door.NPR reports that he was prosyltyzing:
A source tells NPR’s Joseph Shapiro that Hasan was put on probation early in his postgraduate work at the Uniformed Service University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. He was disciplined for proselytizing about his Muslim faith with patients and colleagues, according to the source, who worked with him at the time. And KXXV-TV reports:
Hasan, was giving all of his furniture along with copies of the Qu'ran to neighbors Thursday morning. And in this clip from CNN, he's seen wearing an Islamic robe:
I think there's going to have be some serious consideration about letting Muslims serve in the army if they could pose the stealth threat Hasan became.
