Why the veil should be banned, starting in Utah

Phyllis Chesler provides some very startling revelations about the kidnapping and rape of Elizabeth Smart: her kidnapper, Brian Mitchell, had her wearing a veil, and that's why the authorities initially didn't find her. This may not be a case involving Islam - not per se anyway - but it certainly is a case involving potentially copycat tactics.
The detective who backed down and did not make clear that Smart must be allowed to be identified should be arrested, thrown off the police force and ostracized for his astonishing negligence, all in the name of "cultural sensitivity", a grave error that almost cost Smart her life. As for Mitchell himself, I hope he gets the death sentence for his abominable crimes against Smart.
