Even Israel has a problem with LGBT issues
The surrogacy bill, seeking to allow single Israelis and same-sex couples to use the services of the surrogate to have children, passed its first Knesset reading on Monday, with a majority vote of 45 MKs. Fifteen MKs opposed the bill and three MKs abstained. This is one subject on which I can agree with the Haredi parties, and particularly with Jewish Home. Of course, I'll have to note that the Haredi parties might want to look at the beliefs of sex-segregation being espoused by their constituents, which could lead to homosexual mentalities. Maybe if they'd start thinking about how helpful it could be to move away from such balderdash, they might be able to fix things for future generations.
The bill, promoted by Health Minister Yael German (Yesh Atid), seeks to regulate surrogacy services in Israel, as well as for Israelis who pursue such services overseas.
[...] MKs representing the ultra-Orthodox parties opposed the bill.
"The health minister presented a bill meant to destroy the nature of family as we know it," MK Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism) said.
"This is a corrupt bill and only corrupt [MKs] can support it. We are treating the import and export of babies as if we were dealing with frozen meat. This bill is morally depraved," Shas MK Nissim Zeev said.
Habayit Hayehudi MK Orit Struck said she voted against the bill because it "undermines the family unit." She further blamed Yesh Atid for "trying to strip the State of Israel of its Jewish values."
