Soldier who shot a terrorist in defense gets wrongly convicted

An IDF soldier who was put on trial for shooting a terrorist in Hebron in what appears to have actually been to stop him from possibly committing more violence even while subdued was convicted, and the family believes it was all fixed:
The family of Sgt. Elor Azaria were tense as they entered the courtroom on the Kirya military headquarters to hear the verdict in the case of their son Wednesday.

The soldier's mother, Oshra Azaria, wept and leaned on her husband for support. Azaria was greeted with applause and embraces as he entered the courtroom, and sat between his mother and one of her friends.

As the guilty verdict was read out (a process that took two and a half hours), the Azaria family and their friends showed their pain and anger.

One woman shouted "Disgusting leftists!" and left the room. Another woman was escorted out after she yelled: "My son in Military Intelligence won't be going to his army service tomorrow!"

Oshra Azaria burst into tears and shouted, "This game was fixed!"
After pondering this, I have to agree it's quite likely. That's doubtless why much of the public supports a pardon for the soldier. It's all a miscarriage of army justice, and does make them look like they're so desperate to "prove" themselves that they panicked over the notion the left would attack them and convicted the soldier over putting a murderer to death. It's throughly idiotic and makes them look bad, not to mention divisive.

I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
