It's not enough to arrest Haredi thugs. Auerbach has to be arrested too
Following the disturbances, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat spoke with the commander of the Jerusalem District Police and asked him act with force. “The time has come to put an end to the disruption of the lives of Jerusalem’s residents,” Barkat stated. “The right to demonstrate is a sacred right when it is done according to the law.”At least 36 were arrested. They should not be released in a hurry, and should have serious fined imposed. In fact, they should also be made to post bail if they want to be let out of prison, pending a trial hearing.
“Anyone who breaks the law for any reason must be treated harshly,” he continued. “I intend to ask the government to increase the punishment and the provision of effective tools for the police to prevent demonstrators from harming the public.”
And again, Auerbach and his thugs have to be arrested in order to put a stop to these horrific shows of contempt more effectively.
Update: it's vital to note that at a protest at an army recruitment center last week, the rioters tried to set fires:
The protest continues those that took place last week, in which some protesters tried to set fire to the Jerusalem draft office, according to a video clip posted online Tuesday. This is another very horrific issue regarding these demonstrations - the Haredis are willing to endanger anybody by starting fires and arson. For that, they should face very severe charges and any culprits caught cannot be released.
The footage, posted by the Behadrei Haredim website, was filmed Monday as the protesters prevented entry or exit from the building. The grainy clip showed them trying to set two small fires in what appears to be the guardhouse at the entrance.
The army said that that the protesters had set fire to some signs and anything else they could find near the fence.
“They tried to destroy the fence. There were no injuries. There was, of course, some property damage, but nothing too serious,” an army spokesperson said, adding that “the suspects were taken by the Israel Police for further investigation.”
