Ugh: OJ Simpson turns up on Twitter

Hot Air reports that the scummy ex-football player/actor OJ Simpson, charged in 1995 with murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her new boyfriend Ron Goldman, and served time in prison for armed theft, has now set up an account on Twitter, already long a cesspool of toxic characters:
I couldn't think of a better reason to avoid Twitter, if you don't happen to have an account there. This is just awful.
He posted this, notes the New York Post, nearly 25 years to the day that Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman were murdered. The bit at the end here about him “getting even” is an obvious dark joke about those murders. As the NY Post notes:
This is how he’s commemorating stabbing two people to death, it seems.
Some Twitter users are outraged but I see it as a logical development in the platform’s evolution. Twitter’s where you go to interact with celebrities and sociopaths. A celebrity sociopath will fit right in.
It’s scarcely an exaggeration, in fact, to say that O.J. is all that was missing from our social-media hellscape.
In the 10 hours since the tweet was posted, @TheRealOJ32 has garnered more than 110,000 followers. What Simpson said in the video itself makes clear he's still very unrepentant for his repulsive crime. And the alarming number of followers he's just garnered makes clear there's tons of morally bankrupt people on that otherwise awful social media server too. As if you didn't already know.
Simpson appears to address the legitimacy of the handle, stating, “Now there’s a lot of fake OJ accounts out there, so this one, @TheRealOJ32, is the only official one.”
“This’ll be a lot of fun. I’ve got a lot of getting even to do,” the ex-jailbird says, smiling to the camera.
If the account truly belongs to Simpson, its launch is oddly timely: June 12 marked the 25th anniversary of the murders of Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ron Goldman.
I couldn't think of a better reason to avoid Twitter, if you don't happen to have an account there. This is just awful.
