Haredi politician Yaakov Litzman, along with his spiritual gurus, must realize he came under valid criticism by the public for his offensive conduct as a health minister, and so, he may be moving to a different shop:

United Torah Judaism chairman and Health Minister Yaakov Litzman met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Thursday, as plans move forward for the establishment of a national unity government.

During the meeting, Litzman requested that he be appointed Construction and Housing Minister in place of Health Minister, according to a report by Channel 12 Thursday evening.

After all the trouble he caused in the past years, including his attempts to defend the child molestor Malka Leifer, and his poor personal conduct for the Coronavirus crisis, it could be they decided he'd best move to a different division to avoid remaining in the spotlight for all his offenses. Alas, he won't be forgiven or forgotten so easily, if the police continue their investigation and the courts indict him for his lawbreaking. He should retire already. That would be the best voluntary step he could take in order to apologize for his contempt.

Update: well, it looks like the awful politician has made a wise decision to at least leave the health ministry post:

Unpopular Health Minister Ya’acov Litzman has made a final decision to leave his post in favor of the Construction and Housing portfolio.

Litzman told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday he would agree to switch portfolios as long as the Construction and Housing Ministry will include the powerful Israel Lands Authority. Litzman’s rabbi, Gerrer Rebbe Yaakov Aryeh Alter, told him the Construction portfolio was needed to help his haredi (ultra-Orthodox) constituency.

Blue and White is expected to ask for the Health portfolio and while it was earlier expected to trade the Foreign Ministry for it and make MK Gabi Ashkenazi the next health minister, Ashkenazi said on Saturday that the party wanted the post for a professional appointment.

I'm fine with Gantz's party taking the post, provided they make a convincing effort to make much needed improvements there, and ensure it won't be exploited again by rats like Litzman to serve their repellent clan-based beliefs. What he did in the past number of years was nothing short of embarrassing and shameful. A much needed repair job is in order.
