Mike Pompeo defends Israel's right to annexation of its birthright
Annexation of Jewish settlements in the West Bank is “ultimately Israel’s decision to make,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a briefing on Wednesday. And I'm glad, if anything, that Avigdor Liberman doesn't look to be part of it, after all the trouble he's been causing. We'll see over the next few months - certainly after the Corona crisis is hopefully over - what happens in this regard.
“As for the annexation of the West Bank, the Israelis ultimately make those decisions, so that’s an Israeli decision,” Pompeo said.
“We will work closely with them to share our views of this in a private setting,” Pompeo added.
He also said he was glad that Israel was on the way to a “fully-formed” government and avoided fourth elections.
“A fourth [election] we think wouldn’t have been in their best interest, but we’ll leave that to them. We think it’s not in the world’s best interest. We’re glad there’s now a fully formed government,” he said.
