Israel should reduce ties with China

The USA administration wants Israel to cut security ties with China, if anything (via Breitbart):
The US is asking its allies, including Israel, to sever ties with China in areas with security risks, a US official with knowledge of talks on the matter said on Tuesday.It should be a priority for Israel too. China's commies have done deeds hurtful to Israel in the past, and they certainly have run relations with Iran, which has long proven dangerous with their nuclear weapons. There's only so much about China that can't be overlooked, and it's time for other countries besides the US to reevaluate connections with them for a change.
The demand marks an escalation, since in previous public statements, US Ambassador David Friedman and State Department officials had focused on the establishment of a more robust review process for foreign investments that could pose risks, and a reduction of reliance on China for emergency equipment in light of the coronavirus pandemic. The Trump administration official said that Israel must be prepared to take concrete action to reduce its ties with China.
“I don’t think polite deflection will cut it anymore,” he stated. “This is a high priority for the US.”

If there are genuine security concerns, Israel needs to be wary; but Israeli intelligence services are better able to assess that than Trump. We are living in a time when the US is becoming more isolationist and reducing its role in the Middle East, giving Russia much more of a free hand. Israel needs all the friends she can get, and needs to maintain working relationships and communication with other international powerhouses. Not the time to insult China at the behest of the US because Trump is having a tiff with his former buddy in China.
